It was a great valentine dinnwr
Went for lunch/brunch, shared savory French toast and pork belly sandwich and two boozy slushes - excellent!!!!!! The delicious food and friendly service are always stellar!
Finally had a chance to try dinner at Grand Lake Kitchen and the food was great. The Reuben Fries are delicious, though wish that the pastrami had been leaner, and the vegetable pot pie was the best I've ever had. We shared the roasted chicken, which was tender with crispy skin, but it was very small and wish we hadn't had to carve it ourselves. The salad which came with the chicken was quite good.
Service is a different story as we waited 10 minutes before being acknowledged by a waitress. They seem to share service coverage, which means no one is responsible for a particular table and it's easy to get ignored. Also, as in typical Oakland fashion, the staff seem to feel that they're doing you a favor!
Overall, love the casual ambience and food, but service needs an upgrade.
Great place. I wish the music was a little quieter.
Always great food, drinks, service, and ambiance. And we are all so happy they put Reuben Fries back on the menu!
Consistently good food and service. Love this neighborhood gem!
Lakeside dining with excellent food in a relaxed and friendly. Good wine and beer and the well made cocktails are a pleasant surprise. Pet friendly.
great local spot w/ an eclectic menu. we had a great lunch and I look forward to going again.
Nice place to eat
Hmmmm. The menu didn't seem as odd and innovative as last time we visited months ago - but perhaps memory and/or taste buds fail. Service was prompt and friendly. I had pea soup (pretty good) and Chinese chicken salad (pretty good). My wife had a many-meated sandwich which was quite good. Dining companion had veg pot pie of which she said: white sauce okay, crust better than average. Our memories of GLK were better than most recent experience. We'll try again in a week or two.
Excellent lunch, seated immediately through reservation, delicious food. Noisy inside.
everything was good. The chick pea stew, the prix fixe (spare ribs), the free pickles, the deli meat sampler. We went to another Grand Lake restaurant 2 nights before- and this -place (GLK) is ALWAYS best in 94610 by far.
really pleasant service, we felt comfortable the moment we stepped in... food great : satisfying, tasty, decent portions, etc. loved the wine pours sur la table...
Food was good. Chicken breast was a little dry but the veggies, potatoes and sauce made up for it
Great food and great service! I happy there are a few vegan option - I just wish there were a few more :)
I have only been there for brunch/lunch, but loved it each time
Really enjoyed this outing to GLK. Many know this place for its brunch, but we were there for dinner and it was inviting, cozy and tasty. Service was attentive and friendly. We'll be back!
Another wonderful meal - braised lamb ribs to die for! Tasty cocktails, friendly service.
Food was good. Not a long wait time. I recommend making a reservation (which is what I did) otherwise wait time will be kinda long. I had the savory French toast dish. Personally I'm not a huge fan of rye bread or mushrooms so it was odd that I chose this but I was so intrigued I had to order it. Overall it was pretty fricken tasty. I would order it again. My friend had the chilaquiles. It looked bomb but I didn't try it..
The only thing that didn't impress me was the winter sangria. Other than that wait staff was good. 👌🏻
Delicious food, friendly service, great ambiance. I look forward to dine here again!
Grand Lake Kitchen seems to always have consistently good food and service. It can get a little noisy during the prime time hours but, its not so overwhelming that you can't talk with your friends. My lunch favorites are the Yadi turkey sandwich, Avocado toast and the Cali Mixed Plate. Their Matzoh Ball soup is delish too! Enjoy!
Food was ok. Nothing special.
Had lunch sitting outside on a sunny day which was great, and also dinner on New Years eve. Both times the food was excellent, though they were out of some entrees and dessert items. Hip scene and great service and menu.
What delectable seafood! The leaning tower of fish was an absolute hit. I would add a larger portion of bagel chips at the top though. :)
The staff was very friendly and accommodating.
I would recommend allowing larger parties to stay for a longer time--(retaining current customers is more profitable in the long run). :)
We came here for dinner to celebrate my husband’s birthday. We had a reservation and was seated promptly upon our arrival at the restaurant. Our waiter was friendly and helpful with our questions about the gluten free options that were on the menu.
We enjoyed our food. Everything was delicious! We had a chicken breast dinner, a lamb rib roast, and two orders of sea bass. For dessert, we had donuts, butterscotch pudding, and apple pie with ice cream. The whole experience was delightful because of the excellent food we had at the restaurant. I will be back!
Everything was top quality and you can tell people cared. Service, food, decor inside, prices were great. Just overall great first experience.
Missed brunch, but their lunch menu was good. We shared the bone marrow. Bread was great! I ordered the Cali salad with chicken. Greens were perfectly seasoned. Overall good experience. I hope to sample the brunch menu next time.
Had a sandwich and tea here. The waitress served some free pickles prior to lunch that were a nice treat. Ingredients were all good quality and service was also very good.
Such a pleasure, as always. These folk GET food, and have crafted a gem of a place. I take everyone here.
My staff truly enjoyed our Team Brunch at this location. Great service and perfect noise level. All thoroughly enjoyed their meals!
Went for Chanukah dinner. I was disappointed in the chunky style latkes; my companion did like the matzo ball soup. Also felt they were rather skimpy on the applesauce; not even enough for two latkes. I've heard so much abut this place and wanted to like it. Would consider trying their brunch, their original known for meal.
The food is tasty. Especially the fresh made donuts. However, for brunch they do not have a simple bacon, egg, potato plate. You have to buy it all separately so it comes out to abou $17. For a basic bacon and egg plate. WAY to expensive.
We have been patronizing GLK since they opened. It is our favorite neighborhood go-to for any meal we can have there. Most recently, it was lunch. Fabulous. Breakfasts? Fabulous. Dinner, incredible! Great food, great people on the team. They never miss a beat.
Always good service and yummy food.
Great food, great service from our server. She was attentive, even when the bar erred or forgot something, she was right on it to correct the issue.
One note: This is Oakland. So, you must expect your car will be broken into while you dine. DON'T park a car unless there is absolutely NOTHING inside of it. Our back window was smashed just so they could steal two reusable shopping bags with 3 cheap t-shirts in them.
Another delicious meal at grand Lake kitchen. The latkes were a little too finely shredded for our taste but still crispy and warm. Kale and Caesar salads were both excellent as was the brisket and burger. GLK faltered on dessert (sufganiyot and butterscotch pudding) but were very gracious about taking them back and not charging for them .
GLK is a friendly place. The bar scene looks great. The menu is uninteresting but what they do serve is for the most part prepared in house and entrees are served hot.
This was our first visit and the hostess accommodated our request for a quite table so that we would be able to converse with our out-of-town guest. We sat in the corner booth and exchanged conversation with our neighboring table who had made it before the dinner menu time frame. They gave us recommendations for appetizers and the doughnuts for dessert. We found the atmosphere to be very welcoming and the menu had many good selections. The chef had a good reputation and the NY Steak was prepared perfectly. We also had the chard and the lamb, all delicious. Service was very nice. We will return. Intimate but festive atmosphere.
Enjoyed our meal and our server josh will definitely come back
GLK is usually spot on. It wasn't over the holiday weekend. Service was spotty, my food wasn't warm, the stereo was blasting.... This was the first time like that though, so I'll be back presuming this was a fluke with perhaps the B Team for the holiday.
