GLK is unique. it has food that you just can not get elsewhere. also it has the most amazing hip (does this date me) clientele. the food is prepared wonderfully, comes relatively fast, and the drinks are not chintzy.
Meh. I don’t get the hype. Slow service, drinks took forever then felt rushed at the end. There are too many restaurants with good service to cram into this loud place. Must be putting all their efforts in the new location. :/
So great! It was my first time for a going away dinner for me. Bummed I waited so long to try this place as I’m leaving. Amazing food especially the fried green tomatoes and Reuben French fries. And prices were so good for the Bay Area.
So good.... always want to go back. The avocado toast and donuts are my favorite!!
Always excellent and good value...had pork belly sandwich and a couple boozy slushies, left full and happy, yummm!
it was great
The food was delicious and it’s. A great location. At first the music was too loud but it seemed to get more quite over time. I’d definitely eat there again and recommend. Service was fine.
Always a reliable choice, Grand Lake Kitchen never fails to please. Would love an alternative burger like turkey or chicken. The menu seems small on occasion, particularly for dinner entrees.
Really cool place with very good food. Only complaint was that the bar service was slow and did not keep pace with the food. Long wait for drinks/wine came after meal was done
We had the bone marrow, the burrata, asparagus, polenta, chickpea stew, blue cheese burger and pork chop. They were all so good, but the pork chop was spectacular. It was the best pork chop I've ever tasted, so juicy and flavorful. Service was great as well. And we could actually could hear each other at a normal voice level. This will be a go to restaurant for sure.
y'all are becoming my new favorite spot. excellent friendly timely service and delicious food with a wide variety of choices
Excellent food and service. Will be back.
A homey place with a buzzy vibe and interesting menu. Lots of choices, whether you want small plates, munchies, big dishes, whatever. Good vegie options. Polenta and snap peas made a great combo. Vegetable Pot Pie was a hit, and the hamburger is great. Fun neighborhood spot.
The food is yummy, creative, modern and eclectic. Staff was really great, friendly and helpful.
The Chinese chicken salad had very little chicken in it. For $14 I was very disappointed !
Delicious... so yummy, I had the avocado toast and their donuts... loved them both!!
Food is absolutely amazing. Menu always changing.
Not sure of they tag team tables here because it hasn't happened in the past. Our initial waitstaff was pretty inattentive and seemed slightly annoyed when we asked to place an order for drinks then appetizer. We didn't see her again after that. Our next server was great though. There were a couple minor issues like my friend's steak wasn't cooked to preference and my salad came without any dressing but we worked it out. Would definitely come back but might sit at the bar the next time, great service there. The Seelbach cocktail- highly recommend.
Vegetarian pot pie did not taste good. It had a sour vinegar note.
Loved it all!
Fast service, good food, save wait time by doing a reservation which lets you know to switch times if one is not available... but the folks that are patrons are cool, you can stroll to the lake for the 10 minutes you wait. Baby friendly too. I like outside. Food is great!
Everything we ordered was fresh and delicious. Serving staff personable efficient accommodating. Right by the lake for a walk after. A perfect restaurant.
Mid day lunch. We had a seat on the sidewalk. It was pleasant. The staff was attentive and the food was good. The view was of the busy street and overlooking the park. We enjoyed it and would recommend it.
I always enjoy eating here, the staff is friendly and courteous. However the pickled veggies they put on the table are of limited attraction to most people. I recommend changing that up to something else.
Delectable pork belly sandwich and boozy slushy, friendly service; GLK never fails to please!
A little disappointed that they had discontinued a couple of the cocktails (Sazerac & Vieux Carre) from the menu that were listed on Open Table. Beer selection not that good. Food OK. Ambiance was good.
I was disappointed about the limited selection of dinner items
I usually get the chillaques without the dairy. I love it. It this time it was bitter. Everything else was good.
Have been here several times and usually have great food, but this time the food was awful and on my toast was dust and on my boyfriends chilequiles was a hair. Hopefully this time was just a miss.
Great place for casual dining, lots of good selections of beer, cocktails and food. You can have a bagel with cream cheese and smoked salmon for dinner if you'd like. I was impressed. The food was prepared well, arrived in a timely fashion and the server was nice. They also made some excellent music choices, well done Grand Lake Kitchen. I would definitely come back anytime I'm in Oakland.
It was a good first time there, although our server was not really very helpful. She didn't check in on us or make sure we had everything, we had to find her and wait for her each time we needed something. The food was good though and we will definitely be going back.
Food and service excellence as usual. Always a great choice.
I adore their Chilaqueiles - they make them without the eggs or dairy for me and it is exceptional - just delicious. May never get anything else there again.
Great menu of imaginative tasty variations on classics, like Porcini Waffles.
I’ve eaten here many times and am always satisfied. I was very disappointed with the chilaquiles, however. The tortilla chips were left way too crunchy, and there wasn’t enough salsa verde. The chips are supposed to be limp and saturated with sauce.
Love this neighborhood gem. High quality food. Super nice team from the wait staff to manager to bArtender.
We always get the bone marrow when they have it. It’s just meat butter on some great toast. Had the veggie pot pie also - slightly under-seasoned, but the crust was awesome. Wife had the chicken - very good not great. Service would’ve been 5 stars but we were seat right by the front door on this cold, windy nite. There was an empty table for two in the back, but the hostess didn’t seem to want to walk that far. The wait staff made up for her though. Will come back again (and again)
Very disappointing. Ambiance very much lacking. Also, very limited menu of perhaps 5 entrees. No side salads offered at all, only entrée salads, so one doubles the cost. Busy and seemed very understaffed. Little attention was paid to our table after placing order. Never came back to see how we were doing; never asked if we wanted dessert or coffee. Based on your rating I expected much higher quality and service.
Smoked fish tower with cocktails, properly well cooked steak, a more than comforting matzo ball soup... with great service.
Just had a delightful meal. Looking forward to returning to try out more of the menu
