Interesting menu, lovely wait service and pleasant atmosphere. Loud and somewhat cold, but many restaurants are these days. Everyone enjoyed their food. I didn't like the stringy broccoli rabe and said something. They very nicely brought the whole table their delicious homemade donuts to make up for it. Would go again. Parking is a real problem in the area, duh what's new.
The food is expensive and not great. The chicken was dry. The shrimp and rice grits lacked flavor. The drinks are good and appetizers or small plates seem reliable. Next time I’ll stop in for a drink and a nosh - but too disappointing to go for anything other than a burger (which is supposed to be decent).
Our waiter Jorge was amazing. Food beautifully presented . Especially loved the "Spring cleaning salad". Everyone enjoyed their meal.
Great service and cool spot in the diamond district😎
Cosy restaurant with a nice neighborhood feel, but the food was subpar. With the exception of a good matzo ball soup, everything else we ordered was merely edible. The fried pickles and cheese curds were almost entirely batter, the burger was flavorless and was lacking carmelization on the onions as the menu claimed. And the kids grilled cheese was overcooked and not eaten. All in all, very disappointing.
Great food, location, neighborhood go to place, professional staff!
Not as pleasant as the Lakeshore GLK. Staff was less friendly and less accommodating. Food was less tasty. Disappointed experience overall☹️
Drinks were small and expensive, good but not great. Food was good, not great, also expensive. Haven’t tried brunch yet, but I will.
Lunch at GLK Dimond is great. Quiet, relaxed and great service. The food is always great so anytime for that. Ben and team take really good care of me. This time I brought a friend who has a mobility disability and, by request, our roomy corner was there for us.
Soft scrambled eggs with cheddar on rye with bacon and salad? Okay great. Cold smoked salmon on everything bagel with cream cheese, red, onion, capers, just like home!
When GLK Lake Merritt first opened, it became our neighborhood diner, a tiny space with counter and a few tables. David cooked, May front of house. They have grown but we are fortunate that it actually seems just as "tiny" as the first time we ate there. Really good food, prepared with love. Can't go wrong.
Wonderful food, service, and easy to dine with kids - we couldn't ask for more. And the soft serve is better than icing on the cake!
Food is interesting. Deserts outside the doughnuts leave something to deaire.
Nice people, good service, food was nothing special.
I recommend GLK, Dimond all the time. I got a gift certificate from my nephew and took a friend to enjoy the tower o' seafood. She's very gluten sensitive and they happily accommodated her. We were never rushed, the food was great and the server and receptionist (?) and bus people were all very cordial.
The menu at Grand Lake Kitchen-Dimond is simple and unpretentious but the food is outstanding. Seven of my most critical, hard to please friends joined me for dinner last Saturday and everyone was duly impressed. We ordered the Ruben fries and deli meat plate for starters and the food flew off the plates. The meal only got better from there. Between us we ordered sandwiches, burgers, steak, pork, shrimp grits and brisket. No matter what we ordered, the food was consistently delicious and well seasoned. I highly recommend Grand Lake Kitchen--Dimond.
It was my birthday dinner and a group of ten and the waitstaff were very gracious, attentive and generous. We all loved the food, especially the Brussel sprouts, mixed drinks, (Hot Buzz was yummy but some others were watered down), brisket and donuts!!! The restaurant is spacious and clean. We will definitely go back!
Music way too loud!
Great way to spend New Year's day brunch! Food was delicious and crayons and high chairs kept our 18 month old occupied.
Our first time at the Diamond location. We loved their combination of innovative dishes and well executed classics so that you can bring the whole family. We closed the brunch with killer house-mad donuts. Highly recommended.
Big fan of Grand Ave location! 2nd new Dimond District location is great - bigger space, nice interior design and same excellent food and service. Nice to have 2 locations available!
Great food! Great service! Highly recommend.
Very good restaurant. Glad they opened in the Dimond district. Food is always very good. Only problem is the noise when there are a lot of diners.
The food was good but was disappointed with my Paloma...it really lacked flavor and tasted like it was watered down.
Very cool, relatively new restaurant. Great decor, attentive staff and delicious food. Portions are big and the donuts are super yummy ( $5 for four full sized donuts!).
Really fun vibe. Funky, creative, high-end “deli” food. Great mixed drinks. Will definitely return. Pork chop was scrumptious. Donuts were killer for dessert.
good, friendly service, tasty food
The menu’s dull for lunch, mostly tailored to a brunch crowd. I ordered the tuna salad. It was incredibly dry and flavorless, as if they had dumped it from a can and done nothing more for it. My companion ordered a dish with an exotic name that turned out to be egg salad on toast. He pronounced it uninteresting but acceptable. My salad seemed not to have been dressed except with grated Parmesan. The pita bread was warm and good but welded closed so I couldn’t place tuna salad inside it. Also, there were only four tiny pita wedges. Disappointing. We would’ve made this a regular stop had the food been more interesting and better prepared. The service was mediocre. I was first given a cup of coffee full to the brim. I asked that some of the coffee be removed so I could put sugar and cream in it. The cup returned less than half full. Later, when I asked for a refill, even though the restaurant was not crowded, the refill took twenty minutes to arrive.
Unique pairings of food that are absolutely delicious
Great food and very good wine list, with most wines available by the glass or carafe if you don’t want a bottle and reasonably priced. The food is quite good for the price point and the service is friendly (neither aloof or too fawning). The roasted chicken I ordered was really well cooked with a generous helping of root and leafy green veggies. The steak my friend ordered was also perfectly prepared and came with plenty of sides. A good place for a weeknight dinner and the acoustics and low music volume make conversation pleasant.
I really love this place. Great food and drinks, and a fantastic addition to the neighborhood. I eat here often and was recently disappointed that they removed salmon from the menu. It was an amazing main dish. Please bring back the salmon!!
Nice to have more eating choices in Diamond. Unique dishes, excellent preparation.
Great overall. The sprouts were a little undercooked and service was ok. Our waiter, I felt was ok but almost like couldn’t be bothered. He was ok.
Great to have this spacious, yet cozy restaurant in the Dimond Neighborhood. It is so comfortable and the food is the same as the Lakeshore GLK - but without all the noise and lines...........and parking issues! Plenty of parking on the street or just a block away at a free lot.
Great local restaurant that brings a lot to the neighborhood.
Love the beautiful new space. Great place for a party. Menu has affordable options, everything was tasty.
Kid-friendly and great cocktails for the parents
Everything was fantastic. We love the location on Grand Street and are so excited to have this location so much closer to us. The only thing I will say is that its very bright inside in the evening so its not really a date night place. But if that's the only complaint then they're doing fine, amiright?
We both found our meals disappointing and decided maybe we’ll do lunch or brunch instead the next time.
Great addition to the neighborhood! Will be back soon with friends.
Such a great addition to the neighborhood. A more relaxed version of the Lake Merritt location. Similar menu, same great cocktails and wine. But more space to enjoy. Great place to grab a bit at the bar, have some friends gather, or to take your dog on the patio. Food follows the simple and delicious path they took on Grand. You can't go wrong.
Overall dinner was pretty good. The staff was great. The food was a bit pricey and the dinner options a bit limited.
