This was our first visit to the Crescent City and Grande Isl. Restaurant was a great choice! The food was delicious and the service was fast and friendly. Great experience! Definitely would recommend to anyone visiting New Orleans!
The outdoor venue was beautiful. It wasn't too noisy. The staff were all very kind but not efficient. It took forever to be able to order our meal and then it took even longer for it to arrive to the table. My drink, the Awakening was fantastic!! I highly recommend it. I ordered the Wagyu flank steak. I've never had it before but I've always heard that it is amazing and tender!! Mine was neither!! It was tough and had a metallic aftertaste!! The onion rings were great as was the calamari. The ribs were fair and the fish po' boy was good. I'm glad that we tried the place but I don't think that we will come back. I have a feeling that it's probably a hit or miss depending on who is cooking. We paid an awful lot for this meal (only 4 people) and most of the food was left on the table. If you have other choices, I would recommend trying that first.
We went for happy hour three nights in a row!!! Fabulous oysters, very fresh!
Not impressed. Appetizers were the best part of the meal. Much better and cheaper food elsewhere. Service was good once waitress came to our table. We sat for about 10 minutes without being acknowledged. Keep searching for another restaurant at which to dine.
While in New Orleans on a weekend fun trip my wife and I along with three other friends made a point of trying the Grand Isle Restraunt following a recommendation by my son. My wife and I are originally from New Orleans and love hometown style seafood style fare.
The Grand Isle was not a disappointment. It’s crawfish season right now and the menu has various special selections that featured crawfish. The crawfish beignets were delicious the redfish smothered with a crawfish in a brown sauce was highly praised by our companion who gave it a try. The shrimp and grits was on par if not better than Emeril’s. The prices were reasonable the waiter Giocomo was attentive and helpful and the food was excellent. I highly recommend this establishment and suggest you could try just about anything on their menu and be satisfied with your selection.
Only table available was in the bar. Hostess not exceedingly friendly and not very prompt, left several parties standing around.
I love going to Grand Isle everytime I am in the area of the Hilton and the convention centre.
Went for the first time for a business lunch. Service was excellent. The recommendations our waiter made were awesome. Had the smoked fried oysters app, they were killer!! Looking forward to taking my wife there soon.
So we booked reservations. We arrived on time and was seated right away. I ordered a martini and oysters on the half shell. Martini showed up 10 minutes later with no olives!?!?!?!? We then ordered dinner. Oysters never showed up but dinner did. I ordered a glass of wine with dinner. It showed up after the main course. At least three times the staff broke glasses. After I told them that they forgot the oysters and my glad of wine, all the wait staff said was “sorry and we won’t bill you”. No kidding.
Our server, Patrick, was excellent- friendly and attentive. The decor is wood floor, wooden tables, small chairs. All in keeping with the Fish Camp vibe, however, there are no soft furnishings to absorb any sound so the atmosphere ranges from lively to raucous. Good, fresh seafood.
Amazing service. All the workers were so friendly. The food was fantastic. Really liked the shrimp ju ju.
Great food. Crawfish menu was great. We had a dietary restriction at our table and they accidentally sauced the entree. No problem, they took it back and made a new entree no questions asked. Very happy with the service and food.
Our party of 4 had lunch here after my graduation at the Convention Center. The mimosas were great. We enjoyed gumbo, smoked oysters, crawfish pasta and shrimp and grits.
Food was way overpriced the shrimp juju was good my catfish was horrible no flavor at all. My sons chicken tenders were better. Charged $4.50 just for a child size root beer. Fiancé said shrimp poboy was good but it was small for the price for sure. Definitely wouldn’t recommend them to anyone or go back again. Very disappointed
Mark our waiter was awesome. Full of energy and love of the food he was serving. I would go back just to have him as my waiter. Food was awesome. I am from
New Orelans. I know good food. The fried Oysters and fish sandwich were off the chain. Little pricey but good.
We ride in the Orpheus mardi gras parade every lundi gras and used to always like eating here for lunch before we rode. NOT ANY MORE. EVERYTHING we ordered was horrible, but it used to all be delicious. They used to have AMAZING barbecue shrimp on the menu that is no longer available. The gumbo was terrible. Shrimp and grits tasted bland and over-worcestershire'd. The crawfish bread was good, but the waitress informed us that the reason we had to wait so long for it to come out was because "we had to wait for it to thaw before we could serve it." I imagine that plenty of restaurants serve frozen food without our knowledge, but apparently now the staff doesn't even care that you know you're being served frozen food. We were embarassed to bring our friends here--it is a totally different place now. Perhaps they lost their old chef that served the bbq shrimp. Do not recommend.
The sewer smell in the entry was absolutely horrible! Food was excessively salty. Crawfish pasta was very fishy and just not good. Chicken dish was overpriced and very salty. We are not picky eaters by any means. We will never go back. Spent over $200 for 4 adults and 2 kids. What a waste.
Awesome lunch and our server Collin was very attentive! Will definitely be back the next time we are in town! Don’t miss the dessert!
We ordered appetizers that never came. When the entrees arrived we canceled the appetizers. We ordered drinks to go, but when the check arrived, the drinks were not on the ticket and we did not receive the drinks. I ordered shrimp and grits and the shrimp was over cooked. People were friendly and atmosphere was great. Others enjoyed their food especially the redfish with crab.
We visited late afternoon on New Years day and the restaurant was very busy. We were seated promptly and the waiter apologized for the delay in getting to us. Despite the restaurant being so busy our drinks did not take too long to come and our meal was fairly quick. The good was excellent and we would recommendvespecially the shrimp and gritsvwhich had a delightful light sauce. Definitely somewhere to visit again.
The barbecued shrimp were wonderful with a delicious sauce. My husband ordered the fried chicken with sweet potatoes and devoured it completely. I had the pork chop and sweet potato with apple chutney and thought I had died and gone to heaven with the first bite down to the last. We finished with the Crème brûlée special and did not leave a speck on the plate. The meal was totally divine!!!
The four of us dined on the evening of Sat, Dec 23, 2017. Our dinning experience wasn't as good as I remember dining at Grand Isle before, but maybe this was a glitch so we'll certainly return because their food is great.
Happy hour 4-6 $0.75 oysters is a bargain
We waited FOREVER for our food. After seeing tables who were seated after us receive their food, the waiter responded to our first inquiry about the delay that our food was being plated. Ten minutes or more later, still no food. Instead of apologetic, the waiter seemed perturbed by our ensuing inquiries, of which there were at least 2 more before our food arrived. The 3 fish dinners were over cooked and the $30 "Special" entrée was NOT worth the money.
The tourist trade from the convention center must keep them in business, because I can guarantee that no local New Orleanian ever eats there more than once.
Seating and service VERY SLOW. Had a reservation but didn’t matter, was seated 20 mins after reservation time.
Everything okay until I got notice from open table when we returned that I didn’t show for reservation. We were there 10 minutes early. Had flank steak and husband had poBoy. Food average.
Food is good and nice location . Great neighborhood place. Service is attentive but can also be too intrusive at times if you are meeting friends to visit.
Great for a business lunch. Not too noisy, but still lively.
They served huge local oysters and they were fantastic. They had several tv monitors on but my husband and I were still able to talk. Huge servings. Friendly staff.
Cordial Wait Staff; Above average burger and onion rings; Pass on the fried smoked oysters...
Hidden gem on Fulton St
The whole fish was delicious, the sauce around it was incredible and the fish was not overdone.
This restaurant was a big disappointment the service was incredibly slow we had asked several times to just get silverware or have additional water. The food was mediocre . And I would not recommend this restaurant to any of my friends.
Stopped in one afternoon for the Oyster Happy Hour, then returned the following night for dinner. Some of the best oysters and shrimp in NOLA. The service is outstanding, from the hostess, to the bartender to the waiter, and even the owner/manager. The steak for dinner was good. but can't compare to the seafood options. The ambiance is comfortable and casual, but upscale at the same time. I'll definitely return on my next visit.
It was our first time in New Orleans and we just came across this restaurant. The food is great and the service was fantastic. The area is safe and is close to some very nice hotels. The outlets are around the corner, to walk off the food. Enjoy!
Drinks were great! Menu was limited and somewhat disappointing. Food was overpriced. Love the location and feel of the restaurant just wish the menu had more to offer.
My friend ordered the shrimp boil and was happy with it. I was not as happy with what I ordered - my tuna tartare was not well prepared - stringy and congealed. Our waitress was fantastic, but she couldn't make up for the food. I would not go again.
I had made reservations for 5, but two people from the party were not able to make it. The night still went on though. The food was absolutely delicious, The environment was very nice and the service was fantastic! I will definitely be visiting this restaurant again the next time I am in town!
