Grand Isle Restaurant
Nice place with casual feel and New Orleans gate.
Nice place and friendly attentive staff. Tried to change reservation in Open Table on website and it dropped out. Had to make second. When I called hostess to check, she could not find it. Not sure what went wrong.
Made a reservation for 2pm (listing says kitchen is open until 4pm for lunch) and called to say I was running 10 minutes behind, was told no problem. When I showed up, the host expressed surprise that I had made a reservation as he said the kitchen was closing today at 2pm. He checked with someone else and I was told sorry, we’re closed. Had I not called I would be less upset but that is just poor customer service. You should know if your kitchen is open or closed if you are a host answering the phone.
Delicious casual seafood dining
Nice place for lunch, everything was good. I had the shrimp sandwich. The location is close to Harrahs. I think this place could be great. It was pretty empty when we went there , so it was comfortable.
Just what I needed after a few days on a very rich creole French diet. Good seafood, reasonable prices, attentive friendly service, relaxed casual ambiance. I had the fried catfish with collard greens and mac & cheese. My wife had the seafood stew and a salad. We stew was superb, and the greens were some of the best I've had (yes, there are differences depending on preparation). Salad was big enough for 2. Mac & cheese flavor and consistency was great, with a nice brown top. Catfish was just right crisp. Came with good cole slaw. Everything was nicely seasoned without too much salt.
All the fish entrees were outstanding. Highly recommend the redfish!
Very loud. Atmosphere was a mix of drunken sports bar crowd meets mix of tourists and locals. Uncomfortable seating. Excellent food. Slow service...all aspects.
We had high expectations but were quite disappointed. Our blackened swordfish was quite flavourless. The Cornish hen dish didn’t mesh well. Appetizers or desserts didn’t entice us.
Waiter did great. Very watchful of our needs. Not intrusive. I would rank him a 8.5 on scale of 10.
Great spot with great food. I would go back.
Awesome service! Food was fabulous! We look forward to our next visit!
Happy hour is the best! The raw oysters were great! And it's an awesome deal on the boiled shrimp and cocktails. I was stuffed!
6 Fully stuffed crawfish beignets were delicious and filling. Jason provided courteous and prompt service.
The service was terrific from the ‘hostess’ to our waiter. I would definitely go back
Excellent service. Food was great quality. Loved our drinks. Great for large party
The food was outstanding. Best ever. They did allow a family with two kids dancing on the tables and screaming in the background. Not the best .... Should be on the parents though.... Will definitely come back...
Vacation in New Orleans
Great food, great fun!! Waiter was a blast. He made the dining experience fantastic!
Great meal & service!!!
Food was good. We would eat there again
Why does this review have to be at least 50 characters? Stupid.
The food was amazing- best oysters ever! Our waiter and the manager were very attentive and charming. We will be back!
GM and server Alex were friendly and helpful. Shared with us information regarding the restaurant and New Orleans .
Unfortunately any review on the food would be bad as our experience was tainted due to only what could be called poor management. Our waiter,Alex was very Good, attentive and conscientious. We were dining outside and had more than 3 rats running around our table. We had to leave and Alex our waiter saw what happened and called out the manager who explained that this is New Orleans and after dark the rats come out and there is nothing they could do. We didn't finish our meal,we paid and left and of course never to return again. Management could have rectified this situation however the only thing that was said was "we are sorry".
Visiting from out of town for French Quarter Fest. Had a fantastic dinner here on our first night in town. We were staying at the Hilton, so it was super convenient. Went back for our last dinner too even though we told ourselves we would not be repeating restaurants during our stay in NOLA. Sat outside both times and it was very pleasant. Food and service excellent.
Great for a family or big group. The food was very good. It's in a foodie town, so that's the reason for 4 stars. It's great stick to your ribs, good food.
My husband and I had one of our first dates at this restaurant. Their Bloody Marys are some of the best in the city. We made reservations, but had to wait to be seated because the person doing the seating seemed to have double duties. It was at a busy time, but inefficiently handled. We are locals and now know that there are better places for NOLA seafood, but we had nice memories of Grande Isle and chose to go there. We each had one Bloody Mary. We ordered the crabmeat dip which was delicious. I would go there for the drinks and the dip again. However, the oysters are priced for tourists, so we chose to order something other than raw oysters. Pricing for outstanding oysters is much better at many local restaurants. My husband ordered 1/2 fried oysters and 1/2 shrimp with French fries. The oysters were decent, but the shrimp and fries were heavily salted and inedible. I tried them after my husband stopped eating. I had a house salad with fried oysters. It was decent, but overloaded with onions. My husband had a Diet Coke and I had a glass of water. Our bill was $85.00 before the tip. We did tip our server as she deserved it and was attentive. If the food had been excellent, we might have been less upset. We have also eaten at more expensive restaurants, but the quality was worth it.I’d say save your money and head out to one of the locally touted and rated restaurants.
Server was very friendly. Even showed us how to clean the crawfish in the boil we order for an appetizer. Overall food was just ok and it cost us the same as our trip to GW Fins. We didn't feel the food was nearly on the same level.
The Grand Isle restaurant was a GREAT place for breakfast. The food and the service were amazing and the views were spectacular.
We love Grand Isle and go there whenever we are in NOLA. We miss some of the staples on their menu such as the Turtle soup. The Chefs have changed, but the place remains good overall. Fresh oysters, great crawfish, good fresh gulf fish. And those frozen beer taps are just fabulous. Great engaging wait staff who pay attention to what is needed at the table.
The food was very good - both of us had the shrimp and grits, and my friend also had an appetizer of oysters. The bread pudding dessert was excellent. The service also was good, although it took some banter from us to get our waiter to lighten up a bit :) We did end up thinking he was great, though...and very attentive to filling water glasses, checking in about the food, etc. Overall, a very nice meal in a very nice, casual place.
Our meal was delicious!!!! Our cost time in NOLA and the food here was great!!! Thank you!!!
We went for lunch, its in a good location, close to Harrahs and the convention center. Great halibut fish special of the day. Husband enjoyed the gumbo. Server was a nice guy, but we ordered raw oysters, he brought char grilled oysters with cheese on it. It looked good, but returned it, because we really wanted raw oysters. When in New Orleans again, we'll probably be back for happy hour
We had a fantastic experience and owe it all to our server, Alex. He was kind, polite and very sweet to us. The food was wonderful and on time (even though we were informed that there was a big party in the rear area).
All in all a great evening.
Wonderful evening dining on the patio
The server was good. The food was good but not great like it used to be. We used to make this the first stop after settling in at Harrah's.
Friendly staff, tasty food, seafood platter overpriced
Grilled oysters were great, service was good.
