Friendly and professional service, consistently fresh and well delivered food
The service was so slow and took 15 minutes just for someone to take a drink and appetizer order and then another 15 minutes for drinks and appetizer to arrive. Ordered an Aperol Spritz which was Aperol and water- onion soup arrived Luke warm and charcuterie platter arrived with stale bread that wasn’t crostini’s just stale bread. We decided NOT to order mains and continued on to another venue for the remainder of our dinner.
A Friday evening go-to place. Wish they had more outside seating. Inside is a little loud for us. But consistently good food and service
The location is superior, and outside seating is perfect! The food, the waitstaff, and the wine selections = first-class dining. We are so lucky to live very close by so we may frequent Grand Cru often. One of our favorite places!
Excellent food. Service was decent at the bar. Was not that busy on a Friday. It's a tad bit pricey, but worth a try.
Everything we had was delicious except the deviled eggs (truffles do not actually make everything better). The cheese selection was delicious, our salads were delicious and well dressed, and the entrees were outstanding. Cocktails were a delight and the Shiraz I tried was gorgeous and my friend was thrilled by his sparkling wine flight. Lovely night with excellent service and a great atmosphere.
Excellent food quality and variety of choices. Service was prompt and paced for proper digestion.
Joslyn, our server was very attentive and we had a very pleasant dining experience overall. Our entrees and desserts were nicely presented and cooked. Next time, I'd skip the cheese plate - it would be better to have fewer cheeses and larger portions of each and the bread with it was too hard and dry. Not the best presentation.
The wine was excellent. The food was very good. The only downside is the waiter was slight (very slightly) pushy in trying to get us to order. We were talking and taking our time, he seemed a bit impatient, though the indoor section was nearly empty.
My Mom and I had a wonderful time at Grand Cru. My scallops were possibly the best I've had and the halibut was delicious as well. We both had wine flights and enjoyed all the selections. We would definitely go back. Joceyln, our sever, was very professional and attentive.
Slow service from beginning to end. Good food.
Good food, good wine, good atmosphere, rude and confused servers.
This was a great dining experience. Our server, Josyln, was outstanding. The food was both artfully presented and cooked to perfection. The selection of wines will fit any taste and the assistance we received from the staff helped us pick a perfect wine to complement our meal.
Great food, service and wine selection. We ate "light bites style." The beet and timatoe salad is plentiful with lovely citrus surprise. The lamb meatballs were the highlight against some magnificent cheese dishes. Worth a visit to explore the menu and wines! I'll be back.
Great experience. Will come back. The rabbit dish was so so but the mussels were so yummy
Great food and service! A++ wine list 🍷🍷🍷
Food was OK, not great. My Bistro Burger was overcooked to almost dry, some of the apps were again alright - no distinct flavors
Steak was over cooked (MW instead of MR). Server asked as he saw my face looking at it but I said I would keep it. My fault, but I didn’t want to wait. Cheese plate was boring with several flavorless items and dry break that wasn’t really for cheese. Good wine and decent prices but now I remember why it has been a while. The outdoor seating is really great.
Invited friends for dinner and Grand Cru delivered!!
The main course food was very good for each of the three of us and the quiet outdoor courtyard made it possible to visit and converse. However, the deficient bread to start was just bizarre. They charge for what was supposed to be a basket of varied breads. We ordered it because none of us found the possible starters appealing. But the bread did not appear. And when it finally did after multiple further requests, we wished it had not. Just one type of bread -- stale French bread toasted on a grill.
Excellent service, food and ambiance.
The restaurant lived up to my expectations. I booked them for a quiet, romantic dinner, at it was worth the reservation. The meals were delicious, and creatively prepared, and their service was wonderful.
Great menu, good variety to select from. . . one of the quieter restaurants in the area.
Although we have eaten at Grand Cru several times for dinner, we had not been there for lunch. The $14.00 menu offers a salad or soup followed by any of the several sandwiches or crepes on the menu. A la carte options are certainly available but the menu is very good and the terrace is ideal on a good weather day.
A group of friends met up at Grand Cru for lunch for our first visit. We were pleased with the ambience and menu selections. Service was at a relaxed pace and could have been a bit more attentive since we were on a schedule. Food was well prepared. Overall an enjoyable experience.
Our waiter was just plain grumpy with us. He did not want a table of 7 and he knew he would get a 20 percent automatic tip regardless of his service, which made a bad situation worse. Very disappointing. I had to shield my guests from his behavior all evening.
This was our first time at the restaurant and it was wonderful. Great wine selection and great food. A very enjoyable evening.
Waiter was not very pleasant or helpful.
This was a business lunch. I had a side salad and some duck breast crepes and my guest had the French onion sup and a salad. Everything was perfect. It can be noisy, but I expected that, as it is a popular lunch spot in Ballston.
We ordered the following items:
* Mussels - Good
* Foie Gras - I did not expect this to be sweet and fruity.
* Escargot - The was no garlic the butter for us to dip the bread.
* French Onion Soup - The soup was not hot. It was just warm. There was no color on the cheese.
The first waiter was so rude. He treated us like we couldn't afford to dine here. I had to give him my credit card first. The manager had to send in a second waiter. After the appetizers, we did not want to order anything else and we paid and left. This was suppose to be my birthday dinner from my wife. This restaurant used to be one of my favorites but not anymore.
We had reservations for 645 and were promptly seated. We were not approached for cocktails and appetizers until almost 715. Our appetizer arrived around 725 but not our cocktails. I was getting up to search for them when they finally got there. Around 730 they took our entree order. . We didn’t receive our main course until almost 8 o’clock. And then They forgot about us. We finally flagged down someone Upon request they did bring the check, but then didn’t come back to collect the payment.I had to go seek someone out to hand them the credit cards and the check. We finally got out of there around 8:50. We won’t be going back.
We have had dinner at Grand Cru three or four times in the past months, finding the location, the food, the service, and the later hours very convenient. My only wish would be for a few new additions or seasonal changes to the menu - everything is good but a new offering or two would be good.
Love going here. Best French onion soup around
Very relaxing outdoor patio. When the weather is nice, no one eats indoors. It's a lovely atmosphere. Only thing to watch out for is that when the sun is setting it moves across the tables. We had to move to a different table to escape the right sun around 6 pm.
There is an extensive wine bar area where you can choose your wine. They throw it in a vat cooler and in 5-7 minutes your wine is chilled--great opportunity. The food is very good. Scallops quite tender, though only 5-6 ocean scallops and little else with it The duck breast was moist and tasty. But surprisingly, best of all, was the Steak Frites. Now this is not at all what you would get in Paris--it's better. The steak is not the thin pan fried French version; it was a thick steak cooked to perfection with a wonderful seasoning and charcoal broil.
We'll be back.
We love grand cru! The food, drinks and service are always amazing. The menu is changed frequently with new and interesting choices.
This was our anniversary dinner. Initially my husband called to make reservations but was told after being on hold for awhile that they had no availability. I got on Open Table and was able to make reservations immediately! We had the cheese board which was good. Good crackers instead of bread & some nuts added would have made it great. I had the scallops which were awesome. My husband had the filet & liked it. We shared the chocolate mousse for desert and it was great. Portions were perfect! I never eat an appetizer, main meal, and desert! We’ll definitely go back. Hoping they have chateaubriand next time!
Hard to beat good wines, a nice choice of small plates, and a pleasant evening. Greatly enjoyed!
Disappointed with Steak Frites. Requested medium and steak was med rare and extra chewy. I generally do not send back steaks, but should have.
Overall great. Only complaint was we ordered appetizers and they did not give us time to enjoy them. Entrees came out just a few moments later. We have been here several times and will continue to come back.
It’s was Mother’s Day, the service was slow but the waiter was friendly and polite. I hadn’t been there for several years and was surprised at how much larger it is. Everything was okay, just not quite what I had hoped for. My mother said she’d come back just for the dessert. She loved her pear tart! Also, none of us drank wine, so I can’t speak to the variety of those offerings.
