The menu at Grand Cru consists of an impressive array of tapas items, world class entrees, fondue and hand crafted desserts. the idea is equisite food paired great wines at a price you can afford. But if you are in the mood to eat at home, stop by and pick up a bottle of wine to go.

Definitely a spot you can take your grand mom or mom and dad to. Service was a bit slow now and then but it was a Sunday pm with a small staff on hand, we were not in a hurry. Wine flights were fun and a good way to experience and compare some new wines. Food was good but both entrees were de-glazed with a sweet note that is not to our liking. All in all a very nice dinner and will recommend to those seeking a traditional meal/ambiance.
They validated our parking ticket though we arrived 30 min before the validating time, 6:00 - closing. It was nice gesture. Courteous staff. Beef steak I ordered was nice and tender. Unfortunately, the spinach was a bit too salty to my taste. We liked the ambiance which was very French with brick wall and paintings of French ladies. Nice selection of tables and chairs as well. We will be there again in a near future.
Everything was amazing. The food, drinks, service, etc. This is definitely a new favorite of ours!
We are regulars and enjoy Grand Cru very much. We especially love the warm service, wine selection, atmosphere (you can actually have a conversation because the music isn’t insanely loud!), and of course the food. We’d like to see the menu change a bit more often but we always enjoy our meal and wholeheartedly recommend Grand Cru!
Enjoyed our lunch very much, love the ambiance and everyone was so nice. Food was delicious.
Great place. Never disappoints. Best staff. Delicious food and great drinks.
We were anticipating higher quality food. The food was really not that good.
Jocelyn our server was outstanding. Always apologizing for checking in on us to make sure we didn’t need anything. Whenever I am in town I always try to squeeze in one dinner at Grand Cru.
We enjoyed our first trip to Grand Cru and happy to have a wine bar in the 'hood. We loved the salmon dish and dessert but the French onion soup was disappointing. Also, would like to see more French wines since it is a bistro. We also go to places that have a good selection of Italian wines. The red wine flight was ok--only 1 French wine in it (Bordeaux). We will try again as it is close to home.
Service at Grand Cru has been a little off lately. They struggle at lunch rush. I would advise avoiding the lunch hour. After lunch, dinner -- great.
Wonderful hostess and serving team. Food is delightful! Décor is quite cute as well!
Never enough waiters there. Way too long between times when they check on you.
Lovely Valentines night out. Food was Devine!
It took 1 hour to receive an appetizer; and subsequently 3 iterations of well done fillets instead of medium rare! I attributed this to the occasion. Nonetheless the service was great and the atmosphere was very romantic.
Delicious food, great atmosphere. I have dined there often during the past few years and I'm never disappointed. Great place to bring business associates after work.
Please mind it can be very loud during peak hours. Other than that it's a nice place.
Used to love this place. Ordered Brie appetizer. Although it looked nice from the outside it was uncooked on the inside. They brought another one that was cooked but by the time the server brought it out it was barely warm Steak was OK, but ordered second drink with dinner. We were 1/2 way through dinner when he brought the drinks. It was not crowded. Staff need to be better trained. One drink was way over priced. Makers on the rocks is typically $10 and it was $15. Other drink was inline with the norm.
Superb steaks frittes! Delicious desserts! Courteous services, and cozy dining environment!
Sat next to a corporate party made the noise too loud. Otherwise it was very good. Lil pricey but very good.
Food was excellent overall. Try the Brussel sprouts--very good. Meat cooked to order and well (duck breast and pork medallions). Liquid cheesecake was a pleasant surprise with fantastic passionfruit curd.
It was cold by the windows.
Truly delicious food and extremely friendly service. If I could change one thing, I would give the small tables (for 2 people) a little more space. I felt as if the couple next to us was listening in on our conversations and staring at our plates - that's how close we were sitting. Next time, I will try to reserve a different table than those super-close small tables for two...
The meal was delicious. We enjoyed our dinner. There were plenty of options. The atmosphere was great. Cozy little place. The service could have been better especially after spending $300 for a party of 4. I would go back again. Very nice restaurant.
Grand Cru is perfect every time! First and foremost, I love being able to sit down in a charming, relaxing environment, and actually hear the other people at the table. Thank you, Grand Cru, for keeping the noise level down! Whether small plates or an entree, the food is consistently excellent. I don't drink much wine, so when I do partake, I appreciate experts helping me make a great choice. There are no pretensions or airs at Grand Cru -- just knowledgeable, gracious, and hospitable people who make great recommendations. I just love this place!
I like this place a lot. The food is reliable, the location is easy to get to, the ambience is cozy ... but this time around the service was inconsistent. I was disappointed too in the duck. It wasn’t hot when it arrived and I think they just microwaved it when I asked that it be hot. I’ll likely try other options in the area.
We had a Saturday night dinner at Grand Cru. The food was interesting (in a good way) in the combination of flavors. I was a little disappointed in the service, which seemed a little disjointed. There were too many people involved - to the point that, when the courses arrived, the person delivering the dishes didn't know who ordered which dish (and there were only two of us). I did appreciate the wine flights. They were reasonably priced and of good quality.
I like an environment where I can actually hear my dining companions. Grand Cru was borderline too noisy for my taste.
Great food, great service and ambiance. Will return!
Wide selection of wines. The food was very good.Service was very good
Really great restaurant. I’ve had dinner here three times and each was very good.
We had a lovely NYE dinner at Grand Cru! The food was delicious and the wine expertly paired! We stayed until midnight and the sweet staff poured champagne at the bar for our group and all the staff to ring in the new year! It was a wonderful experience! 🥂
It's a wine bar! You expect to go for a glass of wine and a nosh. It was news years eve and Grand Cru only offered an over-priced fixed price menu. I felt ripped off.
We had a fantastic waitress and the food was great. The Pre-Fix menu had a lot of great options and everything was very tasty.
We really enjoyed the New Year's Eve special dinner with optional wine tasting. The menu had a generous choice of three courses, plus the dessert sampler. Pine Smoked Salmon appetizer was delicious. Main courses of seafood soup and surf and turf were also great.
Limited menu with poor choices, so didn’t even order food. Good wine selection.
We dined at Grand Cru on NYE. The fixed price menu had ample offerings and our selections were nicely prepared and presented. Good value for the cost.
My wife and I have been to this restaurant several times and love their menu. However, we made a reservation for New Year’s eve at 5:45. We knew that the New Year’s Eve dinner menu started at seven and was hoping to be able to order off the general menu since we got there before that time. My wife and I are not big eaters and did not want to take advantage of the holiday three or four course meal. However, the only option we were given was to order ala’ carte off the New Year’s eve menu. Which gave us very restricted choices. Thank you.
They did not have enough wait staff. Once we ordered I did not see a waiter/waitress until it was time for dessert and the waitress told us they were short handed and if we ordered another drink or dessert it might be awhile. So we left and went somewhere else for dessert. Too bad we really enjoyed the place last time we went.
The food was really good for the location. We had a large group and the service was okay.. I've been there in the past with large groups and service has been good so I wonder if it was just the individual serving us.
Nice wine bar with good food if you find yourself in sterile Ballston
