While we love the ambiance of the Grand Concourse and have enjoyed great meals there, tonite was not the case. The service was terrible. Our waiter greeted us promptly when we were seated, took our food and drink orders, but we rarely saw him after that. Our soup arrived and was lukewarm at best delivered by an assistant waiter. Our entrees were okay but our desserts were delivered by another staff member who didn’t bother to clear the table until after the desserts arrived. We were never asked if we would like coffee or tea. I feel that since we ordered off the fixed price menu our server decided to focus his attention on larger parties where his tip would be larger. We were very disappointed with our meal. This was a dinner to celebrate my husband’s birthday, however, his dessert was not embellished with a candle as did the table near us who was also celebrating a birthday.
My family and I were visiting Pittsburgh and Sunday brunch at the Grand Concourse was our last big event before heading home. I was a little concerned about the buffet style because food left sitting out is sometimes not the best. The food here was outstanding in both quality and selection. Our personal favorites were the custom made omelettes and donuts and the bananas foster station. It's a bit pricey but worth it.
SLIGHTLY overpriced, but good food. Front desk folks were great, but the wait Service and "chefs" were mediocre at best.
One of my favorite restaurants of all time, the Grand Concourse continues to impress.
Only suggestion, food could of been warmer.
Filter water, had a metal taste
Put a pitcher of water on table for self serve
It was very good
I had such an amazing experience. It started with the ambiance and view. It continued with my Smoked Cherry Bourbon and my meal. The service from my attendant was amazing!!! This was truly an experience.
Food was good- service very very slow. Decor was very nice!
The Grand Concourse is the gem of Pittsburgh fine dining!
Loved the food, ambience, and our great server. Would definitely return when we're back in town.
Dinner was good. I asked to take my leftover crabcake home. When I got home and looked in the box it was a piece of raw meat. Disappointed.
Wait was a bit too long, despite reservation and 15 minute early arrival. 40 minutes later I inquired and was immediately seated. As a solo party, it became clear I was overlooked. Food was very good. Floor is in midst or renovation and with a crowd seemed a bit of a safety hazard.
Outstanding Brunch !! Make a reservation it gets busy
Waited 45 minutes to be seated. Had to be re-checked in 3 different times. Although the food was amazing. I was extremely disappointed that I had a reservation and still waited 45 minutes to be seated.
After many brunch visits this was first time I question my return. With events taking place in town, it was almost impossible to reach Station Square, the valet parking was all screwed up, they ran out of eggs and roast beef and the chicken was all dried out.
My foodie boyfriend was beyond impressed with his meal. The salmon pate' was fabulous. The server, buss staff and valet were all friendly. A beautiful establishment, rich in history. We sat on the platform overlooking the river. Stunning! We will be back in 3 weeks!
Wonderful service and wonderful meal. Our server, Alexis, was outstanding. We enjoyed the shrimp scampi, blackened mahi mahi, and peppered beef medallions.
Our friends proposed here and all of us have a really great time there. I think the engagement here will be the whole life memory of theirs.
We went to the Grand Concourse to celebrate our anniversary. We have been there in the past and thought it would be a good place to celebrate. We were disappointed. The food was mediocre and it wasn’t very warm when it was served. The service wasn’t anything special either. We will not be returning.
My husband and I enjoyed the blue crab club sandwhich. It was delicious! It was our first time visiting the Grand Concourse, and we will surely be back.
I ordered an ice tea and it it was brought it a badly cracked glass and had to be sent back. The server said she didn't notice it. Evidently she didn't notice us either because we waited a long time for her to come to our table and she was less than attentive. This ended up being not one of our memorable anniversary dinners.
My husband and I were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary in which our wedding reception was in the main dining room. Given the fact that our reception was in the main dining room we were looking forward to sitting in that area to reminisce. Although we enjoyed our dinner and the service it would have been nice to be fore warned about the construction. Just a little disappointed with the seating arrangements. We had dinner on our actual anniversary date, but probably would have held off until the construction was completed had we known. We were pleasantly surprised to have been given a copy of the dinner menu signed by our server and the chefs. So that was a nice memento.
Food was delicious. I had the butternut squash soup & the surf & turf & my husband had the mahi mahi. We shared the chocolate lava cake dessert. We will definitely dine here again.
We were seated in the area with a wonderful river view /city scape view. Our server was Staci who was very attentive and made suggestions as to what we would enjoy from the menu. My wife had a seafood combo. I ate Crispy Duck. We enjoyed wine and had Lobster Bites as an appetizer. It was an enjoyable evening and easy walk from our Sheraton Hotel room.
It was very chaotic in the dining room. We were sat late (no big deal) but then didn't see a server for 15 minutes. She finally came by, took the drink order, and then another full 20 minutes passed and she hadn't come back. I couldn't even flag her down to ask if the drinks were coming -- she kept whizzing right by us. It was our 5 year anniversary and we were so excited to try the food, but after 35 minutes of being seated and no drinks, we decided to just leave. It was really disappointing. However, we went to the Melting Pot across the way and had an incredible time. Our server, Eddie, is our new buddy. So it all turned out well, just with no credit going to this particular restaurant.
Everything was great. The only suggestion for improvement would be if the Brunch duration could be listed during the reservation process. We were not aware Brunch ends at 3:30 p.m. until we arrived at the restaurant.
You can always depend on Grand Concourse for a really great brunch. Especially good if you like seafood.
This was our first time getting the Sunday Brunch. We were disappointed in the selections of food and that some of the items were not done well (too dry) or not kept heated enough. There are tons of dessert options but we wished that the food selection was better. The carving station was fantastic.
Excellent dining experience. Did not get a scenic window table as requested weeks ago. Had to wait even though we had a reservation
We have visited this restaurant many times and absolutely love their Sunday brunch. This time the food was great and the service good as well. However, when you make reservations they inform you that they will only hold your table for 15 minutes if you are late. But if you arrive 15 minutes early they have no problem making you wait 30 minutes for your table. As I observed many people coming after us and being seated before us and some without reservations I decided to inform them that we had been waiting for 30 minutes. They didn’t seem too concerned. Don’t bother arriving early!
Service was not as good as the last time I went, due to the waitress not putting the napkin on my lap as was done the first visit here for brunch. Other than the napkin on the lap, everything was great.
Impressive building for a restaurant. Busy as usual for a sunday morning brunch, we were a few minutes late being seated but we had a perfectly located table with views of downtown Pittsburgh. Food was plentiful, warm, well presented, coffee is good. Reservations always a good idea here, especially when Steelers are at home.
A beautiful destination restaurant. We were there for Sunday brunch while visiting Pittsburgh for the first time. The historic rail road station is
completely amazing to see. Our seat had a lovely view of the rivers. The buffet style brunch has more choices than I can describe. Absolutely something for everyone. Our server was very attentive even with a busy Sunday crunch before a Steelers home game. Save room for desert.
Gandy Dancer once again understaffed. Time and time again the waitstaff is too limited especially for the weekend. Our waitress could have cared less about service to us. No apology for long wait to take order or for delay from kitchen and bussing was only done when asked. Hostess's very good, after that downhill.
I am not the typical person to write a review and I love the GC so much I actually hand my wedding reception there. BUT.... Our waitress left a lot to be desired and made for the worst meal I have ever had there. We ordered a $140 bottle of wine that she broke the cork in, couldn't pour which lead to spilling on the table, and never refilled a wine glass through out the meal after the initial presentation.
We asked for bread 11 times (Yes I counted) and after her telling us she forgot for the 11th time we were done with our entrees.. The attention to detail and table presence didn't exist. We waited over 45 minutes for our appetizers to come out and then couldn't complete them fast enough before our salads hit the table pretty mush simultaneous to our entrees.
Excuses for everything over empathy and action. I have been a very loyal customer for many years with no complaints, but this time I feel like I could have had better service and experience elsewhere and paid a fraction of the price.
We brought our daughter and her friend from out of town - awesome Pittsburgh experience!
food was superb and Corey our waitress did a wonderful job.
Gorgeous historic building. Service was terribly slow, no prebussing.
Food was okay but with price and caliber of restaurant, staff should be better trained.
5:30pm reservation on a Friday. Table for 5 + baby. Terrible server that showed very little care for us - she made a few comments when we ordered and seemed utterly confused throughout our meal. Slow response on drink and food orders. Had no knowledge about most of the menu. My suggestion would be to train every server the same if you’re going to charge premium dollars - the service at hard rock or a chick fila exceeds this establishment. Food was average.
Service is top notch.
Atmosphere is great, so is the view of the city along the riverfront.
Just Awesome !!!!
