We had dinner at the Grand Concourse last Sunday. We were celebrating our daughter's partner's graduation from college. Her parents joined us on their first trip to Pittsburgh from Puerto Rico. The atmosphere and connection to the history of Pittsburgh was perfect. Our table was in the large room facing the city and the view was amazing. Everyone loved their food and the waitress was very kind and the service was great. When the room was crowded it was a little loud but typical of a popular restaurant. We would definitely recommend the Grand Concourse to friends, family and visitors.
Natalie, our server, was amazing. Kids menu for 6 year old and 3 year- old-pizza and burgers. Prime rib for me (Fri. Sat. Sun after 4pm) and many seafood choices which were recommended. My mom got crab cakes, she was pleased. River/downtown view from some seating areas. Parking validation. Online menu available, good selection. 2 adults 2 kids with 2 desserts and soup/salad for 2 was $110. Well worth it.
It was a delicious food and good place to visit.
Brunch is always a winner
First time for the Sunday buffet , definitely won’t be the last . Looking forward to coming again soon . Thank You, to the staff at the grand concourse , for a memorable wedding anniversary .
Great food and wonderful ambiance!
I think the Grand Concourse brunch is the best in Pittsburgh. I reccomend it to anyone. It is a little pricy. I have been going there for a few years and the price keeps going up. I think it was better priced a few years ago.
Excellent restaurant with a nice and varied menu with top notch service. The River Room, where we ate, has a view of the Monongahela River and the downtown skyline making it a nice room for a casual lunch or dinner. We have always been happy with our dining experience at the Grand Concourse restaurant whether it is in the River Room, the Main Dining Room or the Bar.
Wonderful lunch with relatives from out of town. Christie was attentive and helpful. We had a lunch COUPON and she insured that we could use it. The view of th city was great.Everyone enjoyed their entrees.
Went there last minute for Mother's Day and Birthday. Did not know til we got there it was a buffet. Pleasantly surprised though. Food was great, service wonderful and my sons got their fill! Love the history on the walls. My grandmother used to travel through here on P&LE to Canada. Ice sculpture was a nice touch!
Beautiful building. Food is great! Had the buffet. I think they raise the price for Mother’s Day and even though the food was great, I thought the price was a bit much. Must try the made to order pasta, doughnuts, and bananas foster. It was a very nice experience and I have no regrets with the choice to dine here on this special occasion.
Buffet stations disconnect and invisible. Napkin and silverware were damp. Stations setup to create bottleneck.
Went fpr Mothers Day Brunch. Selection was amazing and the kids ate more than I can imagine. It was better than your typical buffet food. Would highly recommend for a Special Occasion.
Visited the Grand Concourse for Mother's Day. They didn't make it special. Horribly over crowded, food was only average, prime rib was overcooked...dry and dead. Menu overall was what they normally offer on a Sunday brunch. Too overpriced, not a good value at all. We'll have to look elsewhere for special occasions....
This visit was for Mother's Day brunch. I was very surprised to find that the brunch foods were average at best, and way overpriced. I had been to Grand Concourse many, many times over the years for dinner, and it was always unique and delicious, a special treat. I expected the brunch to be the same, but was very disappointed that it wasn't. The food assortment was average, the tastes were ordinary, and the price was way more than it was worth. The service and the ambience were excellent, unfortunately the meal was subpar.
Took my wife here for Sunday brunch, great selection of delicious and fresh food! Beautiful building, nice vibe, even though it gets packed we weren't Disturbed by anyone. Try the build your own donut and also the pancakes!!
My family and I went to Grand Concourse for Mother’s Day brunch and it was wonderful. Very accommodating for my baby girl. The Sunday brunch is always an amazing experience. Food is delicious.
Went for my mom's birthday, which was also mother's day. The staff were attentive and wonderful with the influx of people. Food and drinks were delicious. Very worth the price for the selection available.
Our Mother’s Day dinner was absolutely delicious. Herby was exceptional server. The only complaint was the loud, pounding bass beat from the special event’s DJ in the main dining room. It was horribly irritating in the River Room. Otherwise a perfect evening. One of the best meals ever!
Food was terrific and service was even better. Hadn’t been in awhile and glad we went back.
Great view of the city. The food was fantastic and a bit pricey, but well worth it.
I have eaten at the Grand Concourse many times over the last 15 years and usually it has been a very good experience. This time, however, things went a bit south. We were taken back to our table promptly at our reservation time, but the table wasn't ready. We waited a couple of minutes while it was readied. After seating, it was about 30 mins before we got a server and only after we asked for one. While the server was nice, the service was very very slow. It was as if we were kind of forgotten. Several tables around us were seated after us and received their final course well before us. I did talk to the manager and she apologized and gave us a small discount. Two and half hours later we were finally done. This was an unusual experience for me and hopefully it will not happen again.
Other than being seated after folks with a later reservation and more than 2 hours before food was delivered (reserved for 4pm, order taken at 6pm,) the food was very delicious (almost worth the wait.) Just wish the customer service and deliverance would match the price and taste of food.
The restaurant was great food and wine was wonderful. Service in the restaurant was great. The saloon was a completely different matter. The bartender did not greet us with a spoken word. He just stood there until we spoke. When asked for a sweet drink suggestion he said,"any with juice are sweet." We attained a menu from across the bar ourselves. Then were approached twice for our table while we could not get his attention to pay. We finally left cash and left for our table. Bad experience
This was the fourth time we’ve had Sunday Brunch at Grand Concourse (GC) & the experience is always basically the same. The difference this time was what happened 2 days after we had dined.
My husband & I split the check & left a cash tip. We were charged $67.11 & $66.11 respectively. These charges cleared our accounts on Mon. On Tues, my husband noticed a pending hold from GC on his account for $62.11. He called his bank to be told that the bank couldn’t release the hold without hearing from TGC.
He called GC & spoke to 3 different managers. The first two just passed him along. The third, the General Manager, however, FLAT OUT LIED and told him it was not in any way GC’s fault & that his bank did this & he would have to speak to his bank.
I have worked in banking for 10 years & I know this is not the case & that the GC server ran the card twice which caused the double hold. My husband called the bank to be told BY THE BANK REPRESENTATIVE that the Mgr from GC had LIED & that the bank would not randomly assign a hold for a business.
She pulled the debit card history & confirmed that a charge had been entered for $62.11 & then another charge had been entered for $5.00. She then explained that this had been declined by GC & the charge for $67.11 put through. The pending hold for $62.11 was on the account because the server had not declined her mistaken entry fast enough.
She said the Mgr appeared to be covering for the server & reiterated that a bank would NEVER put a hold on an account unless initiated by the merchant.
I am VERY disappointed that an esteemed restaurant like GC would feel it appropriate to lie to its customers when it has made a mistake. My husband stopped & spoke to the Regional Mgr on his way home. The Reg Mgr agreed it was an error by GC & offered to reimburse any fees incurred. My husband told him to tell his Mgrs not to lie to clients & to train his servers how to process card transactions to prevent this in the future.
An excellent way to celebrate Mother's Day, one week early, with 3 generations of Moms!
The service was mediocre. The waitress was unfriendly and non-resposive
The food was great and the view by the windows can’t be beat but the service was just ok and they made it known they didn’t want people to sit and talk for very long even on a day that it wasn’t very busy.
The server was very good. The ambiance was very nice and the buffet had an excellent. The only (very minor) criticism to ensure the waiters bring coffee more often (since the cup is very small). Overall the waiter was very helpful and the atmosphere was nice.
Amazing view and an overwhelming amount of amazing food. I went here 3 years ago and kept telling my boyfriend that we needed to go if we were ever back in Pittsburgh. Definitely lived up to the hype and expectation I expressed to him. Very happy and will be back
We had a lovely time at the Grand Concourse for brunch. Our wait time was short, our waitress was wonderful and the food delicious.
Very slow service took over 20mins to get a server.
Came to celebrate son’s college graduation. The waitress was extremely slow or new and was confused and forgetful. Ordered food medium-rare. Lamb chops were cut paper thin and prime rib very well-done. Had to send them back. The venue is beautiful and historic but the food is very very mediocre. Can’t say I’d go back there again or recommend it to anyone.
Place is beautiful food is banquet quality with five star prices. Will never go back
Brunch buffet was great; good selection, something for everyone.
We stayed in the Grand Concourse for hours; not because we were eating constantly, but because we got caught in conversations while eating from the brunch buffet. We did not feel pressured from our server which also add to why we simply got caught up in the atmosphere.
it was our first time having brunch here and it lived up to our expectations. The food was great and our waitress-Lyn- made our time there even more enjoyable. We’ll definitely be back.
This was our third visit here. I had requested this as a birthday present from my husband and wanted nothing else!!! Even though it was a cold day outside, the room was filled with warmth, our server was lovely and the food was exceptional. We weren't rushed through, and were able to enjoy our meal. This is a first-class restaurant and we all had a wonderful time. It is elegant and just a beautiful place. There were so many different choices and what we had was delicious.
Great service and great food ! Pleasant atmosphere for a very enjoyable family get together with an outstanding selection of delicious brunch items. Special nod to the freshly made donuts!
