My husband and I went for our 14th Anniversary. We have dined here in the past for special occasions and their brunch. We were drawn to the Restaurant week menu this particular visit for our special occasion. The only complaint was that the desserts on the menu were not available for our reserved dinner date. Other than that, the food, service, ambiance, etc was wonderful..never disappointed in the Grand Concourse.

The reason we chose to dine here was it was listed as the best prime rib in Pittsburgh, available after 4p. That was the sole reason for the visit. It was a Monday night. The waiter was phenomenal- but the first thing he said was “There’s an error on the menu- there is only prime rib Fri-Sun, so that isn’t available tonight”.
I was devastated.
We also ordered lobster bits for the appetizer- was disappointed in the portion/presentation.
Most likely will not return.

We went for restaurant week. Unfortunately, there was a wedding so we weren't able to sit in the main hall, but the water view made up for it. Service was slow due to the wedding and our entrees came out almost cold. The food was good, though not anything to write home about. Our server was terrible. She complained about how many hours she had to work, gave unnecessary details about her personal life, and interrupted our conversation to add her own point of view though it had nothing to do with the actual subject matter. I was horrified by how unprofessional she was and she made us feel very uncomfortable. For such a fine, historic establishment, we didn't expect that. Fortunately, we all knew how to laugh it off and still enjoy our evening despite the odd out burts from her. It's a classic place, so I would give it another shot for brunch or cocktails before blacklisting. Some people just have off days.

For their Pittsburgh restaurant week, they had a fair offer of choices. The steak was good. The scallops and shrimp, although flavorful, not the best choice as they were the small bay scallops, four of them and two basic medium shelled shrimps. More of an appetizer. Just a big disappointment for such a nice place as we had better expectations as everything else was spot on. The salad and dessert were perfect. Our server was the best.

This was our first time having the brunch. Sadly, I can not recommend this. We had a 1:30pm reservation but we had to wait a half hour to be seated, then we had to wait another 10 minutes before our server came to the table.... only to tell us that she is supposed to be leaving and will have to find us someone else. She ended up staying though. While plentiful, the food was just average. I waited in line twice to get an omelet, only to be ignored both times by the cook, so I never did get an omelet. The scrambled eggs at the buffet line were very hard. The carver at the meat station complained of his back pain and that he couldn't wait to get out of there. Some of the better food options were the smoked salmon, the breakfast sausages, and the roasted veggies. My husband said the donuts were good, but my favorite taste of the day was the bananas foster. Truly delicious! I hate to give a negative review for this restaurant because we have had amazing meals from the dinner menu here in the past. We just know to never again come for the buffet. Not worth it for the price. You are basically paying for all the staff running around, but not really helping anyone, and for the ambiance of the building. On the flip side, my mother, whose birthday we were celebrating, said she enjoyed her meal and thought everything was good. So, for her, I'm happy. For me, not so much.

Our server and the food were both excellent. We had an out of town guest so we did the incline then brunch....beautiful day to show of our city! Waited 30 minutes after our reservation cation time to be seated, I suppose because we requested window table.

We had reservations for 1:00pm but were not seated until 1:30pm. We went to the desk twice to get updates. The second time they said that they could not find our reservation then they said it showed that we were already seated. Finally they did seat us and our server was excellent. The manager did pay for a round of drinks because of the situation. So we ended up having a great time.

Had a wonderful experience. The food was great but more importantly, Rebecca, our server was fantastic! She truly loves her job and it shows. The place was busy but she made us feel like we were the only ones on the restaurant. Thank you Rebecca!

There was something on our table when we sat down. There was a hair on the napkin of our rolls/crackers. My filet was very fatty. My boyfriends filet was cooked medium well like he requested. The portions were very small for the price. Not a good experience at all.

Food was lackluster and host staff were downright rude. Nearly 1/3 of the items on the already limited lunch menu were unavailable. Our server was the only saving grace during this uninspired meal.

The food was great and the restaurant is beautiful. The service in the Gandy Dancer bar was terrible. It was not too busy yet the bartender mostly ignored us and then got weird with the bill. In the dining room they kept running out of the things we were ordering. The crazy thing was that it was not real busy or late and it was a Friday evening. The waitress never bothered to refill our water glasses which (admittedly) is a pet peave.

Service was very slow and pretty bad compared to what we have had in the past.
The waitress brought out my husbands drink (rum and coke) a good 35 minutes after we ordered it and most of the ice was melted therefore watering down the drink. When she finally came back to the table he started to tell her that it was watered down but before he he got to say it she said I know it’s watered down. I’ll get you a new one. First of all why bring a drink to the table that you know is bad? Second of all the “new” drink took an additional 15 minutes to receive.
Appetizers were shrimp cocktail that also obviously sat for an extended period of time before being brought to us as all of the ice under the shrimp was melted and pretty much just cold semi icy water.
3 of the 4 guests orders were steak all of which were not cooked to the temperature that was requested. 2 were to be medium but were mid well close to well done. Way over cooked for our tastes. One was to be medium well but bordered on medium rare and was sent back.
Not our best visit here by a long shot!

Although it is a Pittsburgh staple, I would not recommend this restaurant as a showcase of what this city can offer. Busy, chaotic, disorganized, poor service. Should consider quality over quantity. Not the best brunch of breakfast buffet I’ve ever had. Old school way of running things, needs updated.

While the building itself is beautiful, the meal itself was subpar. I ordered a filet and asked for it to be cooked so that there was only a little bit of pink showing. The waitress said that I should order it cooked medium then. Unfortunately, it did not come slightly pink. It was served to me rare, appearing like the cook only seared it on both sides but nothing more. I called the waitress back and explained the situation and she was happy to take it back. I understand sometimes errors are made and I wasn’t critical of them. Unfortunately, five minutes later my steak was brought back to me still undercooked. Having to send it back a second time was frustrating, disappointing, and definitely interfered with my husband and I enjoying a nice dinner out. The taste of the filet was not to the standard I had expected either. I don’t know that we will return.

For a place like this, known for seafood, you’d think a $13 order of calamari would be fresh and plentiful. About 6 pieces, not
Freshly breaded.

The inside of the restaurant is beautiful the view of the river is fantastic. The main courses were excellent. The lobster bites didn’t taste of anything but breading. The Brie was good. The shrimp were OK

Favorite place for Sunday Brunch. Have driven over here from Ohio many times. Well worth the drive. Beautiful decor. Lots and lots of food items from which to choose. Delicious cocktails. Great place to dine as a couple or with a group of family or friends.

It started out great. We were seated at a table by a window with a nice view. The waiter seemed distracted or inattentive all evening, from 6 to 9. We ordered raw oysters and drinks. The waiter did not ask me which oysters I would prefer. As we walked in there were several choices on ice. It seemed to take forever for the drinks to arrive. The waiter didn’t bring enough water timely to some of our party and too much to others. He also spilled water when he was told it wasn’t needed. We ordered 4 entrees, three came out first. They were fine. The last entrée to arrive was mussels, due to it coming from another kitchen. It had to be sent back because it wasn’t hot. The waiter was kind enough to take a good photo of us. A glass slipped off a tray carried by someone bussing the tables. On its way to smashing on the floor water sloshed onto one of the people at our table. A lengthy apology was given and the manager also apologized for the cool mussels and the falling glass. We had some coffee, espresso and bananas foster creme brûlée. The check eventually arrived. No discounts were applied or offered, except we were offered more coffee. I must say the reggiano potato croquettes were fantastic. Two spindly asparagus spears were tasty, but more would have been desirable. The medium rare filet mignon seemed closer to rare, but it was delicious. The shrimp scampi and rainbow trout were delicious! The peach sangria was tasty and artistically prepared. My drink had been empty for about an hour and a half when I was asked if I wanted another one. This restaurant automatically brought plastic straws without regard for the potential threat to aquatic life. I would return to the restaurant and hope for a better server. Another note, while we sat waiting for our check another employee was steaming and polishing the glasses and flatware at a table next to us.

So my very first visit here, the waitress actually boxed up our food for us, but this visit we did it ourselves. Very friendly staff though. I'd definitely come back.

Our waiter was Herbert. He was excellent! In fact, all of the staff were professional and courteous. The food was good, but I am handicapped and had to walk a ways to the dining room. However, we were seated at a window table and it was very nice to be able to look out and see the river. This brunch was for my aunt's 65th birthday and she had never been to the Grand Concourse before. It is lovely as always.

Excellent variety of dishes, from the omelet bar to the bananas foster over french toast to the fresh donuts, and then beautiful looking ham, turkey and prime rib. What’s not to like?

The Grand Concourse is our go-to Sunday brunch when we have guests staying with us. The quality and quantity of food is beyond belief and the cost is shockingly low especially for our friends who are from New York- they can't get a corned beef sandwich at a deli for that price! Other than the number on the scale the next day, Sunday brunch is the best!
