Don't know how they stay in business. Our waitress just wasn't around. Couldn't get our water glasses refilled. Food very average to below average. The decor is beautiful but you go to a restaurant to eat - not sightsee. The menu and staff needs a reboot. Go and look at the stain glass but eat somewhere else.
Have only been for Brunches and love the atmosphere, great for groups. Lots of options for foods and good mojitos
Service was great once we were seated. Our reservation was for noon but we weren't seated until 12:30 and the check in staff wasnt very attentive. Excellent value for the brunch. Grand Concourse is one of my favorite restaraunts.
Brunch was great-- the entire party really enjoyed themselves.
I was able to make my reservation at 6am when it was convenient for me. We walked in and it is always breathtaking to see the beauty of the building. Our waitress was perfect and as always so professional and my one year old granddaughter enjoyed all the attention from her. The food was great , everyone was stuffed and fully enjoyed.
Arrived with only about an hour before close. There were very few tables in use, which I thought would be a bonus, but they were pushing everyone into one scenic corner. The only issue I had was that we were kind of crammed in when we didn't need to be, the the two couples behind us were talking at 85 dB, it was like I was a part of the conversation, unwillingly. If it had gone on any longer I would have asked to move. It may not have been an issue if there was any additional background noise, but it was quiet for that part of the night.
Food was great, as were the cocktails. Ate off of both their specialty and main menu.
We had a great meal at the Grand Concourse. The food was amazing, the service was tremendous, the restaurant is a great way to remember what being an adult is all about! That said, having kids running around while their Dad's chase them in gym shorts was not what i expected at all!!! I'm not sure why certain restaurants are afraid to enforce a dress code, especially one with the caliber of the Grand Concourse. I was highly disappointed with the behavior and the attire of the guests, and with the restaurant's inability to gain control!
Not only was the restaurant beautiful, the service and food were amazing.
The Grand Concourse is a sight to see! The interior of the building has much of the original seating and fixtures of the old rail station. Redone, it is beautiful and the stained glass windows and ceiling were amazing. It had a nice menu and the food was delicious.
We had an outstanding dining experience.
Can not wait to return.
We decided to try the Grand Concourse brunch as it was recently advertized as one of the 100 best brunch locations in the US. It was worthy of the accolades as it was exceptional in every category, food quality, quantity, selection, service and a terrific view of the city.
The first half of our dining experience we were not impressed with the service. We had to track waiters down and it was difficult to just get our water refilled. The food was fantastic though and since brunch is such a self serve thing anyways we weren't too upset. By the end of the meal though we couldn't find anyone to get us a bill. Eventually a manager came over and comped our entire bill. It was a wonderful surprise and such a generous way to handle the situation. We were extremely impressed and will definitely return.
The food and view were great. The service was good not great. If you have visitors in from out of town it is a great place to have Brunch.
in the service. Waiter was very eloquent but did not match with service.
Am a frequent partaker of the Sunday Brunch. This time I noted some changes in the food arrangement - all definitely for the better. Also had much better service than I have had in the past. I love the ambiance and take friends and family there quite often.
Coming from out-of-town, planning our weekend visit to Pittsburgh. We were lured in by the fantastic photos of the Grand Concourse Dining Room, However, when we arrived we were ushered in to a side dining room with little to no character or other visual interest at all. As it happened, the main dining room was not open to any patrons as it was booked for a wedding. That was not indicated or advised when we made our reservation only days before...why not?!? Had we known we probably would have opted for another dining venue. The food was good, service was fast and good, but we were in from Cleveland and wanted to experience a bit more...afterall Pittsburgh, we can get fantastic food in Cleveland, we have an Iron Chef!
Excellent food service...can't say anything negative .
Always delicious food. Mixed drinks were excellent . Wine serving size lacking and pricey -- it's just wine.
We dined for three hours and never felt rushed.
We celebrated our 3rd Anniversary! My husband had never been to the Grand Concourse before. Our food was excellent.
The food was wonderful and flavorful. The service was great although, the waiter talked a little on the quiet side. The atmosphere is one of the best I've been to. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to somebody. I love that the main part of the restaurant used to be a train depot. The stained glass windows and decor is original.
We had a nice table by the window and could watch the river traffic. Food was good. Service was excellent. We had a nice 43rd anniversary. Waitor even remembered that at the end of our meal. Loved that cheesecake!
Had the seasonal Chef special of the coconut shrimp which was EXCEPTIONAL I would go have just for that. They also offer some new unsweetened flavored iced teas. Service was exceptional as always
Excellent menu, excellent food, excellent service. One of the best dining experiences I've had in a long time.
I searched online for a great brunch place that had good views of the city. This was it! The brunch buffet is huge varying from lox and bagels to roast beef. Get the bananas foster on a Belgian waffle! Great place to bring visitors to Pittsburgh!
Thanks to the General Manager who helped us with this special group Graduation event our family planned.
I can't say enough about the service, and excellent food all our guests enjoyed for the Sunday Brunch.
Once again I will be back with friends and family, a great place to dine in Pittsburgh! Top Notch as always!
Great Service, Great Food, Great Atmosphere. Loved the omelets, donuts, fish and bloody mary's
So this was our second time around for a sunday brunch. It very difficult to find something negative to say about this place. I enjoy everything about it from decor to live pianist. If there is one thing that I could change I would bring more variety to the menu as it was almost the same items 2 sundays later.
Extremely disappointed with our dining experience
Made a reservation for 4. Bill was just under 300$ however only 2 people are the food
Both chicken dishes were undercooked which is a disgrace in today's society with the knowledge of the dangers around undercooked chicken
Will never be back
After making a reservation we arrived, were seated and flat out ignored for almost twenty minutes (the restaurant wasn't busy, we made reservations at the last minute). I had to go find the manager to get some attention and along with profuse apologies, our food began to appear, but we clearly remained an afterthought. The food left so much to be desired I am not sure where to start - even my steamed cauliflower had so much salt on it, it burned. I mistakenly ordered coconut shrimp which was so salty and spicy, I couldn't taste coconut at all, not to mention the shrimp weren't fresh. While we appreciated the attempted save from the management team, I wouldn't go back for all the reasons mentioned above. Loved the views!!
I have moved out of Pittsburgh, but returned for a few days and brought committee members to Grand Concourse. Many had very specific dietary needs, and sometimes have difficulty finding what they need in a menu. They loved this place.. great food, wonderful choices, lovely setting etc.
We went to the Grand Concourse for our wedding anniversary. I made the reservations online which was very simple, it was my first time dining there. When you walk in it's such a beautiful place, so well kept and clean, makes you feel like you stepped back into the 30's, just breathtaking. We were seated out by the big open windows with the river view and we had a little two person private table that was "reserved" since it was our anniversary! The waiter was awesome, very attentive always filling our drinks even before they were empty, making sure we had everything we needed. The food was mouthwatering, from the bread and salmon spread w/crackers, to the main dishes, everything was wonderful! I would highly recommend the Grand Concourse!
The food was really good. It was not too crowded on a Thursday. We asked to sit in the "grand dinning room", but even on a Thursday it was closed for a private party. We were given a table with a view of the river. It was very nice. We checked out the grand dinning room when we left.
When making my reservation, I stated it was my granddaughter's sixteenth birthday, and would appreciate a good table. When I arrived, the main dining room was booked for a party, and we were seated in another room by the river. I was very disappointed with the seating, and would not have booked a reservation with Grand Concourse had I known we would not be seated in the main dining area.
Out of town guests were very impressed with city view and historic, majestic building. Sunset dining menu (early bird from 4 pm - 6 pm) made it possible to entertain small wedding group for reasonable price with maximum restaurant experience!
The bread was so amazing and the food was to die for.. A little pricey but deffentily a place you have a go to on a special occasion. Wonderful time
A friend was in from out of town. We had a quiet dinner catching up, watching the sun set on the beautiful skyline.
The food was delicious and the wine list extensive.
Our meal was well prepared and delicious. Their signature salad was not its usual best, some of the lettuce was a bit rusty. Otherwise it was a fine experience.
Words are not enough for this brunch. This is the only "MUST DO" on my list when family or friends come to visit us in pittsburgh.
We have enjoyed the Sunday Brunch for 30+ years, visiting at least twice yearly. This year, however, it seems the quality of food is lacking. The apple dumplings used to be made with whole apples, now it appears to be apple pie filling. The made-to-order egg station was manned by a chef who, when asked to make "fried eggs" stated he did not know how. I constantly had to flag the waiter down for coffee refills. At the very least, coffee should be replenished without asking. When the waiter was asked the price of the brunch, he stated "not sure--it will be on the bill."
Was traveling to Pittsburgh with a friend and we made reservations here for Sunday Brunch. Food was above average for a brunch buffet with tons of variety. It was very crowded and thus some lines or bumping into others at the food stations. Obviously this is the place where people go for Sunday brunch! The setting is cool as it is in an old train depot. Very pretty stained glass. Allow yourself some extra time to look around.
