Great food and atmosphere. Operation was something regretted as they used trainees with some mistakes.
We made a lunch reservation to have an anniversary lunch with our Daughter-in-law and granddaughter. Everything was great !! The venue of course is spectacular, the food was great as well as the service. The child mac-and-cheese hit the spot. To top it off the Happy Anniversary dessert was fantastic. Will come back again.
We hadn’t been to the Grand Concourse in many years. We were very happy to return and had a fabulous meal. Every bite was delicious and our server Noelle made our visit especially pleasant
Wonderful brunch as usual.
Food stations are always the same - tired of going to get the same old stuff and it’s not really
That good / scrambled eggs are from powder ? Sausage and gravy was gross / smoked salmon looked old / cold salads are gross / donuts and banana foster waffle station are the long things that remain yummy - sorry to be negotiate but this brunch is just not worth it anymore
Birthday Such a great place in am.
We were delighted with the Sunday brunch. The selections of food were amazing. We loved that there was a section for children. We will definitely come back when we're in the area again!
A great brunch with wonderful selections and great Bloody Marys!
This is probably the best buffet this side of the Mississippi.
We waited over 30 minutes for our server to deliver menus. Water and bread never arrived. After waiting another 10 minutes we left. Maitre D apologized stating there were too many inexperienced servers on the floor. There was obvious chaos throughout the restaurant.
Service was the worst ever. Right now it is very difficult to get into the Station Square area because of construction. There is NO signage, so you are on your own.
When I made my reservation with Open Table, I requested to be seated in the Main dining room in a booth. When we arrived at the hostess station, they said no tables were ready and we would have to wait at least 15 minutes. I looked into the main dining room and it was EMPTY. I asked about this. She said she was trying to get us into the Riverroom, so she never looked at our request. Then they seated us in a booth that sits 10! There were 4 of us. Very uncomfortable , so we asked to be seated in a table for 4 as we should have been given. The woman who seated us was annoyed. (remember, the place was empty???)
So, we tried to relax and put the hassle behind us. Our server was completely out to lunch. We gave her our drink order and she disappeared for almost 20 minutes. (remember, the place was empty???) She returned without any drinks because she had thought she lost someone's credit card. It was sitting on our table all along. So THEN, she put our drink order in. Mistakes were made during the whole dinner. The food was good, but we had a very stressful night. We won't be back.
Disappointing. The main dining room was deserted and they crammed everyone into the rear train car. It was very noisy and not at all the ambience we wanted. Also the Martha’s Vineyard salad, which I normally love, was nothing but lettuce.
Will go back but will specifically request NOT to go in the train car!
Have been here multiple times and never had a problem until this visit. Service was excruciatingly slow. They seemed understaffed even though it did not seem very busy. Drinks were slow to arrive. Bread came after the appetizers and about the same time as the meal. Food was good but not quite what I have had in the past. Because of the slow service, we were not able to enjoy desserts before needing to leave to be able to make our show time. Based on one bad day, I would hesitate to say I wouldn't recommend the restaurant, but I may think twice before picking it again.
I was disappointed in our table. We were seated at round table and I spent the entire night ducking from the staff who were bring food and drink from the kitchen. Because it was a special occasion for my in-laws I made the choice not to let the poor seating choice ruin the evening.
Family visiting from out of state and everything was fabulous!
We were seated immediately and our server, Herbert, was absolutely fantastic. He had wonderful manners and was extremely helpful with giving us information about the food, establishment itself, and directions to the bathroom. Our view of the river and the city itself was second to none. The food was spot on, and we didn't feel rushed to finish our meal at any point. 10/10 would recommend to anyone who has a loved one that they would like to spoil.
We had an excellent dinner without being hurried. Herb was the best waiter with his recommendations for both food and wine.
This is my favorite restaurant in PGH !
Lot of fond memories always creat new fond memories no matter what sort of events I celebrate with my family and friends ! It is fun to ride Moneghalla incline to Grandview ave to see our beautiful city from the lookout including GrandConcourse !
We have also created memories dinning during Christmas Eve and Christmas Day !
Staff has been warm and friendly all the time !
Our drinks were brought out promptly. The waiter was very attentive and the food was delicious. Even the valet service was very prompt. We have dined there before with similar results.
We were quickly seated and had great service from our waiter Rinor.
l think that because we went on Labor Day, the Grand Concourse was not staffed sufficiently in the kitchen and the wait staff. My dinner was a little tardy and when it was placed in front of me the waiter immediately picked it back up mumbling “Something is missing” and left. Several minutes later he returned with the wrong vegetable on the plate, but the vegetable was the only hot thing there. As my companions already had a good head-start on their meals l decided not send it back. When another deficiency was pointed out to the waiter, he apologized but made no effort to correct the fault. l don’t think l am being too hard on the restaurant considering the prices charged
Horrible service, granted our server was new I had to ask three times for lemons. He came back three times to tell my boyfriend they didn’t have what he ordered, the food took forever and when it did come out it was good but barely enough. We left hungry.
Great value for Sunday brunch. Everything was 5 star. A very impressive place to take guests. A Pittsburgh treasure no doubt.
I love the history of Pittsburgh. You can feel the history when you are in this amazing restaurant. We went there for brunch. It was noted it was a birthday celebration I was greeted with a "Happy Birthday". I thought I had requested the main dining but that was not on the reservation but they however accommodated my request. The food was great and abundant with a wide variety of options. The entire family enjoyed the experience.
We went on the labor day weekend for brunch so it was very busy. We were able to be seated about 5 minutes after check in but had to wait another 5+ minutes before our server was able to get to us. The food is good and there is a decent variety. The donuts are great and definitely worth walking to that side of the restaurant. Overall a decent experience but not extra ordinary.
I was actually very disappointed in with the Grand Concourse Sunday. We have always had great service and were excited to bring out of town guests and were not impressed. First, we were not seated until 45 minutes after our reservation time. Then, we sat at the table for another 15 minutes until our waiter came over. Tables around us were dirty pretty much the entire time we ate. We went up to the buffet to find that they were out of plates. We were given very watery coffee in regular glasses because all mugs were dirty. The man carving meat took forever. I waiting in a line so long, my other food was cold by the time I got the prime rib. Food containers were empty for long periods of time. The food was not labeled like previous visits. I have always been so impressed with the service at the Grand Concourse and this time does not make me want to come back. On a positive note, my omelette was amazing! The salmon Rockefeller is a must! I hope they get back to where the used to be and this was just them all having a bad day. It will be a long time until we return again. And please could you have some gluten free options available when people ask. I would love to be able to enjoy the pasta bar but I feel discriminated against because of my disease.
Wonderful brunch and great service
Our waitress was amazing! She went above and beyond!
We had 10:30 reservations, through Open Table, & we were not seated until after 11:00. Service was friendly but very slow. The beef was so horribly overcooked that I didn’t bother trying the other two carved meats. We’ve e joyed this brunch several times through the years, but this visit just didn’t live up. Hopefully it was a fluke, not a trend.
Great food, super crowded and loud. Beautiful architecture. Service was decent.
Waitress was very attentive! Food was amazing. The only negative would be there is just too much movement and the staff doesn’t pay attention to their surroundings. I will be back as it was a great place to be
When I booked this it asked if it was a special occasion and I put birthday. I saw them do something special for someone else that was dining but no mention to us which was disappointing. Everything else was fine
Prime rib was not great
I brought my new fiance to this restaurant as it has always been one of my favorites. I was so excited to show her the main room. When we got there from Columbus, OH, we found out the restaurant was rented out when we attempted to walk in and were immediately and very abruptly stopped. I asked if I could just walk her in to merely see it and we would walk right out as we came such long way. We were immediately confronted by an African American woman who was working the front desk. She exclaimed with immediate authority that we were not permitted to enter and that we couldn't even walk in and right back out just to see it. It was if the President were there. I was very disappointed and somewhat embarrassed. Although the dinner was great as usual and the server was top notch, the experience at the front desk just ruined the night. How it was handled was incredibly unprofessional and with absolutely NO finesse. Although I know that events happen that will occupy the restaurant and that our timing was just bad, considering how far we came just for this dinner and this location, I find it hard to believe that accommodating a mere "quick peek" was that much to ask. I expected more from such a fine restaurant. If I owned this place, I would want to know these things as customer relations mean so much in the restaurant industry. We wont be back.
Great food. The Waite staff was excellent. The Birthday person had a wonderful experience.
after dinner we went to the bar for some drinks. we saw (2) small mice run across the floor and told the manager. FYI
Always an excellent Choice! Especially our server Stacie!!!
The prices are very reasonable. The quality of the food is outstanding. Service was great. Our waitress had a great personality. She was very prompt and courteous and we enjoyed the experience and interaction. Our guests are from out of town and they thought the stained glass in the main dining room was gorgeous. We sat in an area where we had a nice view of the river and it made for a very pleasant experience.
We were one of two tables booked for that night so we had practically the whole place to ourselves. Our reservation was for 8 p.m. (we arrived on time) and wanted to enjoy a cocktail and the view before ordering, which we did. My champagne cocktail was a tad too sweet, so they topped it off with more champagne to even it out !!! Perfection (must purchase pear vodka) Just before 9 while using the bathroom and taking in the lovely place, I received a text from my husband that the kitchen was closing at 9, so I had to hurry back and place my order...I felt that was odd ... My oysters were delightful (Maryland) and they even gave me a bonus one since it was my birthday! I'd had fish two nights in a row so I went for the petite filet with a lovely potato and asparagus. The potatoes were nice, asparagus perfectly cooked but my filet was a tad sinewy ... turn off for me, which is why I always and only eat filet. I switched with my husband and ate his flat iron steak which was way more tender and fresh than my filet (and of course he ate mine) ... our server Lauren (sp?) was delightful, however if she came to our table right after serving, I might have returned the filet for another one ... Not a reflection of her but since the place was so empty, there was little staff activity near our table... In any case, she accommodated my request for a complementary glass of wine to ease my disappointment (lovely!) The manager came after she heard and said she would report my concern to the beef purveyor ... We did not want dessert, but they brought me the customary creme brulee with a lovely happy birthday message on it ... I would go back again as it is probably one of the nicest restaurants in Pittsburgh, but I would be more assertive about my satisfaction ...
We had a wonderful time. Great waiter, nice window view. Food wasn’t top of the line ...possibly because our reservation was for 2:15 and the buffet ended at 3pm
