Great rentavation and preservation of the station. Easy access with valet or off site parking.
Waitress took such a long time bringing our drink order that I went to look for her. Salmon was undercooked. Vegetable on the plate was just sautéed peppers. Crab cakes were unimpressive. Snapper, mashed sweet potatoes , ginger rice, coconut shrimp and creme brûlée were all good.
Amazing service, amazing food, and an amazing venue!
The Grand Concourse is exceptional in every way. I get there a couple times per year for special occasions and I am impressed every time.
The food was great. Variety for everyone's taste. Our group enjoyed themselves. We were celebrating two birthdays. Our waitress brought out something special for the birthday boys. They appreciated very much.
Great atmosphere in every room, especially main room and sunroom with view of the water. Lobster Mac was the best option in their brunch buffet
We went to the Grand Concourse for the first time this past Sunday and we couldn't have asked for a better experience ! Our waiter, Herby, was BY FAR one of THE BEST waiters in the Pittsburgh area ! An entire dining experience can be made ( or ruined ) based off your interaction with your waiter and it is because of Herby that we WILL return! He is a truly a leader in EXTRAORDINARY customer service, going above and beyond to make sure his tables are well taken care of! Now to the food - A-MAZ-ING ! The buffet options are endless and everything was cooked to perfection. There really is something for everyone! Thank you Herby and the Grand Concourse for wonderful Sunday brunch on a gorgeous day in Pittsburgh !
I was a little disappointed in our server as I waited over 20 minutes for our check.
It is a beautiful and unique setting, and the view of the city from our table was spectacular.
The service and the people were great. Unfortunately, the food was only average. Given the cost of the meals, we were disappointed with the quality of the cuisine.
The waiter was very slow and not attentive to us at all. We spent over 20 minutes waiting for a glass of wine and the cup was filthy. 30 minutes for soup and a salad and waited over and hour after for our dinner and it was not busy. The creme bruelle looked great but the presentation and taste is not what the pictures looks like. I was very disappointed cause it was my birthday dessert. The front staff where wonderful and the place as a whole is absolutely gorgeous just unfortunate we got a lazy waiter. I will go back again.
This was my first time at this venue. The interior is stunning. The woodwork and the stained glass is breathtaking. The history of the building is fascinating. I ordered the crab cake appetizer and it was fabulous. Everyone else at the table, who ordered after me, ordered seafood entrees. Unfortunately, having been the first to order, I ordered the filet. Normally, this is a good choice. However, it was not the best one to have made at this restaurant. In hindsight, I should have ordered one of the seafood options.
The kitchen was a little slow that night, not sure why. It wasn't that crowded, but it was definitely worth the wait. Wonderful crab cakes and sea bass prepared perfectly. Always love the timeless class of the surroundings!
I WENT FOR THE 5.00 CRAB CAKE - I ALSO LOVE THE NON ALCOHOLIC BLOODY MARY. I WOULDN'T HAVE KNOWN ABOUT THE CRAB CAKE IF YOU HAD NOT e-MQAILED IT TO ME.
there WAS A BIRD IN THE DINING ROOM ADJACENT TO THE RIVER. THE STAFF HANDLES THIS THE BEST THEY COULD - AND YOU COULD SEE THE TRUE CONCERN THEY HAD - BECAUSE THE BIRD WAS HITTING UP AGAINST THE GLASS.
aT ONE POINT THE STAFF OPENED THE DOOR ATTHE END OF THE ROOM - THEY ASKED ME IF I WAS ALRIGHT WITH THIS - AND I AM - THERE WAS NO OTHER WAY TO LET THE BIRD GET OUT -
II WAS PLEASED WITH EVERYTHING - AND WOULD COME BACK AGAIN - THANKS FOR ASKING - PAT HANNAN
As the Grand Concourse has always been one of my favorites, I was curious to see what the Crab Cake special was....and it was special. We had the best server, on point with requests and explanation of how the crab cake special worked ($5 per cake....nothing complicated) but didn't hover. Timed the appetizer, salads and entrees at appropriate intervals.
The crab cakes were outstanding as were the mussels. I was accommodated for some changes to my salad with no problem.
Can't wait to sit outside!
I made reservations for 4:00 PM on Thursday March 7th. When we arrived I was shocked to see that we were the only diners in the restaurant. The place is beautiful. We were seated in the River Room with a great view of the city, river and train tracks. Our waiter was very friendly and took time to explain the menus in detail. Even though that we were the only ones in the restaurant the service was very slow. We all ordered an appetizer and the filet and a glass of house wine. The food was cold and average in taste. It took 2 hours to from the time we sat down to finish and get our bill. Way too long for me. The bill for our meal was $180.00. This was way too much for an average dinner.
Was not disappointed. Selected, with no previous visit, for our 40th wedding anniversary. The restaurant was magnificent ( on historical registry) , the service top notch, the food excellent, and the view delightful (we opted for river side seating). Only issue, as with many things in Pittsburgh, best know where you are going to get there or have a good GPS.
We were celebrating my parents 50th Anniversary and they sent out a complimentary dessert for them which was very sweet. It had been a few years since we had been to the Sunday Brunch. The food left a little to be desired for our vegetarian/celiac guests. All of the salads were already dressed and none of the dressings were gluten free, leaving fruit their only option. I was surprised that they didn’t offer something, even greens from the back for them to eat considering the $ of the buffet. My patents thoroughly enjoyed themselves, so that is what really matters.
One of our favorite places. Love the brunch , with family and friends. And work get together
Food was amazing! Service was great until we got our checks and they completely screwed them up not just once but twice! We had a large party about 10 people and had two separate checks. They flip flopped the checks and charged the wrong cards! Then the waitress tells us that it happens all of the time, well okay. Then took the checks back to fix them and after doing so we checked our bank account and there was random charges on there, but was assured that the problem was fixed that when the money would come out there would be no issues, FALSE! After a few days the finial amount came out of the bank account and they screwed the tip up and put it on the wrong card, they put it on the opposite card! So frustrating! Had to call the manager and said it will take about 4 weeks for the refund! What a mess! Kinda upsetting that management wasn’t too apologetic about the whole situation. Food was good though! Beware if you have large groups!
I was disappointed in the food. I ordered a steak well done and it came out pink/bloody in the middle. The mashed potatoes were cold. Overpriced.
I went to The Grand Concourse with my family to celebrate my 70th birthday. I thought what better place to have a celebratory dinner for a milestone birthday than this beautiful restaurant. The service was great, meals were delicious, and chocolate mousse was fantastic. Love this restaurant! The scenery of Pgh was a real treat.
It was my daughters birthday. The host who sat us was super nice and the menu had written happy birthday. Food was excellent. Our waitress made a lot of excuses for forgetting refills and forgetting things we asked for. She never acknowledged my daughters birthday. We saw other tables with candles in desserts taken to other tables. Kind of disappointed.
Waiter was cool; saloon was sweet as well.
Enjoyed dinner recently after an afternoon symphony-it's about 10 min away from the theatre district. I recommend the valet parking as the nearby lot is torn up due to construction and parking is annoying. The food was delicious-we had the plank salmon and the catch of the day special-salads and dessert were awesome as well. Highly recommended...
Lovely brunch with outstanding service. Wide variety of breakfast and lunch item. Wonderful customer service in that there were many stations ( waffles, omelet, carved meats, banana foster) to choose from. Historical landmark to take company from out of town.
Wonderful selection of foods spread into different rooms so no long lines. Everything was good. Beautiful high ceilings. Friendly service.
Our brunch experience was great! Adam was an exceptionally attentive server and the food was amazing! The only improvement could have been the position of our table. While it was a great view of the river, we were at the last table right next to the server station. It was hard to get up and down to the buffet waiting for all of the server traffic, a bit dangerous for all with the hot beverages and large trays.
We brought a friend from Australia who had never been to Pittsburgh. He loved the ambiance and the Sunday brunch was delicious !
Gorgeous decor in the main dining room - Grand Concourse is truly a gem. We enjoyed a late dinner in the River Room - beautiful view looking out at Pittsburgh skyline and the river. Amiable service. Excellent food. Outstanding experience
Our waiter Herby was awesome he explain everything and was very personable the food was great it was my girlfriend and i second year anniversy we will definitely recommend this place we will be back
Beautiful restaurant with very attentive service. Highly recommend fir your special event.
Good food and good service. We came in between Sunday Brunch clean up and the beginning of the dinner hour. Understandably, we had to wait a few minutes to be seated. Once seated, the food was great. The crab cake entree was good...but, the "sauce portions" were extremely stingy....I was surprised. I would love to return for the Sunday Brunch sometime-I bet it's spectacular.
The background music was high causing diners to talk louder to hear one another. The Banana Foster was the best. Loved the breakfast selections. Prime too raw. View of city was amazing, even though river is always muddy this time of year. We will return for Valentines Day /Wedding Anniversay again next year. 20 years this year!!
While we usually have only good things to say about the Grand Concourse, this time there were a couple of annoying issues... The omelets were way overcooked and the piped in music was far too loud for normal conversation. Prime rib was very good...!
Great brunch with family for a birthday celebration! Would 100% go back!
When you have reservations they need to adhere to your time not wait 15-30 min to be seated after your reservation time
We ate brunch and came back for dinner that same night. The brunch was great and the dinner was horrible! It took 15 minutes for our server to come to our table and another 15 minutes to get out drinks. My soup was cold and the salmon that my wife ordered was raw. My trout was so over seasoned that all you could taste was salt. Wish we would have gone to McDonalds!
Our server was great and very patient with all of our children.
This is one of my favorite places to go for a nice meal. Is a bit on the expensive side but if you are celebrating it is totally worth the price. The food and atmosphere is incredible.
