Have been going here for years for our anniversary after getting engaged after dinner here many years ago. Grand concourse used to be a favorite of ours, but it’s gone downhill dramatically recently. Service was fair at best- our server was very nice but obviously stressed. There was a wedding in the main room, which likely took the majority of staff for the night. Shame on management for not adjusting availability of reservations for the night accordingly. Food was mediocre. Steak rare rather than medium as ordered. Scallops tiny. Crab cakes overcooked. Desserts weren’t anything to write home about. Sadly, I think our yearly tradition has come to end…I don’t think we will be back.
Don’t ever go to the Grand Concourse when there is a wedding in the main part of bldg. it’s was extremely noisy and very loud at times seating by the River section. It was the only section available that evening. I wish they would of told us a head of time. Also they management had the air Conditioning on high and it was only57 degrees outside. It was very unpleasant. I’m sure they had it that way cause people inside were warmer due to the wedding party. I’ve going to this restaurant several times since the pandemic started including our Christmas get together last Christmas. The gentleman seating us was very irritated when I asked to seat in the hitop section by the River. He said nothing was available. Five minutes or even less after we were seated there were 3 hi tops that were available. He never mentioned if we could wait a few minutes he would have something available in that area. He could care less. During the pandemic the management was much different and more reasonable, I’m sure they appreciated our eating there at that time. Not sure if we’ll be back cause their lack of kindness as a result of everything getting back to normal maybe a sign of treatment going forward….Such a shame….
Celebrated our anniversary at the grand concourse for dinner. The food was amazing and the service was wonderful. Already planning a trip back to try Sunday brunch.
My 40th birthday! First time and will always be back!
The fish was not fresh and undercooked.
Requested window table which was accommodated. Service was great. Drinks and hors d’oeuvres came quickly. Meals were plentiful, hot and delicious. The ambiance was very good even though we didn’t eat in the main room we took some time to enjoy the architecture taking pictures.
I was skeptical because I saw some bad reviews but I was willing to give it a shot because most of the reviews were good and my experience was excellent! The architecture alone was worth seeing and the food was excellent!
Awesome servers. Gorgeous view of the city. Food was good. The bananas foster crème brûlée was divine!
Had a pre-dinner cocktail in Gandy Dancer - Service was good when available - too many customers for limited staff.
Food was good and waitress was very attentive.
Great place for a special event (birthday was what we celebrated). Will definitely be back!
It was my husband’s birthday. The food quality was only OK.
The Grand Concourse brunch is a must when in Pittsburgh. The architecture alone is worth a visit. Fun for the kids to make doughnuts and pancakes, etc.
Always a great time, service and food were beyond excellent!
Such a great pick while visiting Pittsburgh! The ambiance is so unique and everything from the service to the food was fantastic.
Good food. Beautiful restaurant. A bit short staffed but waiter worked hard to make up
My fish was 27 and pieces were not cooked. Very disappointed.
They always have an excellent food selection that fits our whole family. The ambiance and service cannot be beat. Always our go to for an evening out or special occasion.
Birthday dinner for my 91 year old mom. She enjoyed it tremendously.
Food is not good quality and overpriced for sure.
The restaurant was amazing! Very cool historic place. We went for lunch on my birthday and had the most fantastic server. I think her name was Noelle. Food and drinks were amazing! We’re from New York City and Philadelphia… so we are on the picky side. We will return next time we are in the beautiful city of Pittsburgh… hopefully for dinner so we can sit in the main dining room, which is beautiful!!!
Crispy duck was outstanding. Loved the city view and the rumble when the trains went by
After many years of feeling the Grand Concourse was only a place for tourists r special occasions, we headed back for the delicious Martha's Vineyard Salad & the offerings of fish prepared many ways. And we went back!
The waiter was not shy with his very bad attitude after he learned that we wanted to switch to another table. His attitude changed completely and immediately to being “professional” after giving him fast tips quietly into his hand. We are Chinese and he is white. Not sure if this is an issue. But regardless what’s the issue behind, money calmed down his ill manner. Was expecting a more truly professional service from this level of restaurant. Hopefully not again.
❤️’d every minute of it!!!!! We will be back. Food was excellent. Service was excellent. Atmosphere was Spectacular!!
I've only ever gone for their Sunday brunch, but it never fails. It's always been great. It is a little pricier ($35 a plate I believe; my 4-person tab including tip was $180). Service is great and the food is good. I highly recommend making a reservation, and get their early. It is usually busy but is worth the wait. Come hungry and bring friends/family. My parents were visiting from out of town this most recent trip and they really enjoyed it as well. 10/10 would highly recommend. Only downside is the crowd - but busy means it's good!
The food is good. Prime rib is very good. Enjoyed the brunch.
The food and service was AMAZING. We had the best time!
The waiter was awful. Super loud. Very in your face. Took the menu out of my hand twice to show me the other side. If your going to wear a mask wear it. Not hanging down past your lower lip and then close loud talk me.
Fantastic steaks and a beautiful setting. Recommended.
Grand Concourse is a must go while in Pittsburgh. The food was delicious, the service was stellar, and the ambiance is perfect for the perfect date night
Good atmosphere but disappointed I could not reserve River Room for party of >8.
Mediocre food for the price.
Fantastic all the way around , enjoyed it all and would most defiantly go back . The window seat with the city beside us was spectacular really added to the magnificence of the atmosphere. Can’t wait to go back for another meal with regular menu items . Another thing is the place is run great very timely and attentive staff really great experience . The bananas foster is as good as Brennan’s in New Orleans 💛🖤
We enjoyed our visit and our food at the Grand Concourse Sunday Brunch and the gentlemen who responded to our reservation request (Melo?) went above and beyond to accommodate our party of 11 with a wheelchair. The selection was amazing, the food very good, the building beautiful, the service professional and pleasant. If I had one complaint it would be the attempt to sale us the diner’s discount club membership. Our server was not at all obnoxious about it but when out enjoying good food and good times with the family, we have no interest whatsoever in hearing a sales pitch. And of course I would have preferred a slightly less expensive rate. Even with the selection, I would have put it at $30/person.
The food was not good. All three of us had steak and none found it acceptable. Nice location but essentially this is a tourist trap. The service was very slow as well. It wasn't very busy so not sure why everything took so long. Do not eat here!
Great place to have dinner. The staff was friendly, kind and helpful. The food was delicious and the facility is classic! It was a very nice dinner experience!
I hadn't a first date with a young lady and she was very very impressed 👏. Thank you for helping me get browny points. I would definitely go back again.
Everything was excellent!
Food was good but the restaurant was very crowded and the server was VERY busy. Need to have more servers to improve the fast service. Overall it was a great experience!
Cool looking building with dishes that can’t be matched. Service was great too!
The Brunch Buffet is excellent. I recommend it to all.
