Wonderful food and service in Gandy Dancer Saloon.
Excellent brunch with outstanding service by J.R. We will definitely return!
I had a great time with my friends, we enjoyed our dining area and our wait staff but the food really disappointed. I hate to complain but since I received this survey I will advise you on my experience. The selection is awesome but my waffle was cold as well as the bananas foster topping, they were both in serving warmers but they were ice cold. So I go to omelette station, ordered Veggie omelette and the chef was talking and acting silly and gave me an undercooked omelette, o showed my friends and they agreed that it was still very funny. So I finally decided to try the hot foods, 2fried chicken drumsticks, 2 pieces of andouille sausage, sauteed veggies. Well I was about to just cry when I bit into each item. Chicken was cold and dry, sausage, the same and my veggies had NO flavor. I just ordered 2glasses of Moscato and chatted with my friends and chalked it up as a loss. I spent $55+$10 tip basically for 2 four ounce glasses of wine. I hate to waste food, but I had our server take away all my food after about 2 bites. My ex-husband was a cook at your establishment for years, and he would've been infuriated with the quality.
I hope you use this review as a chance for corrective measures to be put in place as to ensure a more pleasurable dining experience for all.
Best brunch in the Burgh!
A wonderful Sunday brunch. Even the Mr. was impressed. Lots of quality variety.
This is the second time I requested this place for my birthday. That should say enough
Fantastic place and excellent food.
Make a reservation well ahead of time especially if the Steelers are playing.
We really enjoy this brunch!! We came with a guest who was a little difficult and they handled everything beautifully!
Amazing venue to celebrate the holidays or any other special occasion, especially if you're with out of town guests as we were. Unbelievable selection of food and great service. You won't be disappointed.
The staff were very pleasant and gave good service. However, the food was just ok - I wasn’t blown away by the quality. I also had a dirty dish that needed to be replaced.
I was also disappointed that I couldn’t get to see the main dining area due to a wedding party that reserved the area. I felt like I couldn’t get the full experience of the place. However, we did have a decent view of the river in the other dining area. The staff also didn’t take note of the special occasion noted on the reservation, which was disappointing.
Overall, it was an ok experience but not as amazing as I had hoped.
I used to love dining here before the Landry folks took over. Presently, food/service are adequate. Prices too high for what was served. Charged for an item not served. Had to call manager for credit. Too much drama. Probably won't return. This place reminds of what Lydia's was like a few years prior to Lydia's recent closing. Location keeps GC open.
Excellent food, service and ambiance! We had an excellent evening and will definitely return.
I had a business associate visiting Pittsburgh from Europe and had hoped we’d be able to get a table by the window in the River Room. The hostess explained there was a business party occurring and we might find it loud. She informed us she would take us back to a table and if we found it too loud, she would get a table in the main room.
The table was perfect and my associate was able to look upon the city (his first visit). Herbert was very accommodating and would check on us without being intrusive. The meal was delicious and the history of The Grand Concourse provided a great backdrop (my mom used to meet soldiers’ trains to greet them (she corresponded with a few during WWII).
The only disappointment was when Herbert said you don’t have Licor 43. I had hoped to introduce the person to a mini beer.
Thanks again for everything.
Great experience as always. Food was great. Ambiance was great! My only comment..... we only had one server for a group of 10. Drinks, starters, meal, desert. She did great but with some help it could have been a little more attending.
Like stepping back in time, Grand Concourse was classy and elegant. The lemon chicken was amazing and our complimentary Anniversary dessert made the evening even more perfect. This is an annual event for me and my husband.
Food was great to but one of our party got food poisioning from the scallops. The scallops was the only item he had different that the rest of us. He was sick all Wednesday night and Thursday he could not drive and I had to drive back to Canada for him. This was not a good time for him or the rest of the team. Please look into this. We paid a primium price to get this.
Server was Herb and he was outstanding.
It was good , food was great, they gave us a good view
Great brunch experience. The food was wonderful, the staff was friendly & attentive. The buffet never needed tending. It’s worth fighting through nearby road construction to get to it.
What a busy time to go with a Steeler game!! Only thing: we did not know about the construction... was stressful trying to navigate steeler traffic with the fences and cones...
absolutely. Our waitress wasn't as attentive as in the past. It was quite busy with large parties, that may have been the reason. This is our go to place to celebrate. Always enjoyable.
Staff was terrific!
Brunch is always a great experience.
Wishing there were Oysters
Food was good and reasonable-- Service was EXCELLENT. Great place to go for any special occasion or just to go not any more pricey than a casual theme place really
Overall a fantastic experience. Valet parking terrible, not accessible, parking lot close by.
Great great conversation with servers
Food and service we exceptional! Will always go back. Only issue we had was the placement of our table. In the entire dining room, we were sat exactly next to the only other table in the room. I felt we could have been spaced out a little more. The woman next to us was loud and rather annoying.
Another enjoyable lunch with a friend..........who was pleasantly surprised that the dessert was decorated to say Happy Birthday (glad I had given the heads-up when I made the reservation
Had a great dinner unfortunately my expensive coat was stolen and no one seemed to know where it went. Left there very upset and without it, ruined the whole dining experience.
We were there for brunch. Our table was along the River We were never told there was a whole other area in the bar area or there was an omelet station until we left
the food was awesome. brunch was pretty busy but we didn't wait long in any lines.
This is probably some of the best tasting food you can get in PGH even though a lot of items are on a buffet, still tasty and hot. A number of items are also made to order and prepared excellently. The surroundings are beautiful and very well maintained. This is just a must if you are in PGH. Love, Love, Love it.
The Grand Concourse is located in a beautiful building. The food tasted great and was of good quality, however several of the items were cold. I even got one item of the hot tray right after it was put out and it was cold. Some of the workers seemed less than enthused, our group made fun of the guy manning the carving station as having no personality and our waiter was there when we didn't need anything and not when we did want something. They also must get a perk for selling the loyalty program as our waiter seemed disappointed that no one at our table wanted to sign up. Overall though I would go back as the food was yummy and I didn't even get to eat half of what they had before I was full, the view of the river while eating was nice too.
Amazing restaurant. The food was fresh and delicious. The service was great! Perfect for our small children, as well. Love the history. Will return.
Wonderful meal for our anniversary. The calamari is the best we’ve had. Highly recommend for a romantic date night.
The setting and the ambience are matchless. The food is variable. The prime rib on a weekend was by far the best available in Pittsburgh, and the chilled stone crab claws were magnificent.
MY wife's steak had to be returned. She asked for it to have no pink. It came back rare. i ate my meal basically alone d ue to the wait. Colin did try his best by helping us with comped desserts.
Excellent facility and fast friendly service. We actually ate in the saloon and it was great!
Seafood was fresh and burgers were perfectly prepared.
Will be back.
Steak cooked perfectly. Great service
Outstanding food, ambience and service. Highly recommended.
Great service went to happy hour first
It eat in a part of Pittsburgh history. Very nice
