We had lamb meatballs, Charlie's chowder and key lime pie. Our waiter Herbie was excellent!! The food was very good and served at a proper temperature, even the dinner rolls were good and the portions were quite appropriate.
Service by Herbert was outstanding. He was very attentive and offered some good suggestions. Nice quiet evening with seats by the river contributed to our enjoyment of the evening. Staff provided a dessert to celebrate the Birthday we came for. Food was amazing as always...crab cakes are a must as well as the pomegranate martini and key lime pie.
Great atmosphere. People were very underdressed. Our server was lovely, seemed to have special needs but we were supportive. Nice view of city but never asked if we wanted to sit in main dining room.
Business dinner but they put us in a half booth half table which was really uncomfortable and awkward. They ran out of lobster and of the wine we wanted.
Waitress was very grumpy. Fish and vegetable was drowning in butter and fish did not taste fresh. Mashed potatoes were very dry and didn't taste freshly made. Restaurant could use a better chef!
This was our first time there and it was amazing! The view of the river was beautiful and the food was excellent!! It was my birthday and I received a delicious complementary dessert!! We will definitely dine there again soon!! Maybe in September for our Anniversary!
It must have been the time of day (1:00 pm) for Sunday brunch as a few items were dried out. Overall, we will be back.
I was completely underwhelmed. The entire experience is oversold, the place was crowded, hot food items were rarely restocked. No signage on any of the buffet offerings. The only reason I'd return is for a warm donut fresh out of the fryer...
Food was good.
Service was good.
Waitress was terrible. Barely came to our table, screwed our bill up twice. No happy
Late fathers day brunch
Excellent food and atmosphere.
Main dining room was closed due to a wedding, we were disappointed because that room is so lovely we wanted to sit in there.
Had 745 reservation. Didn’t get appetizers til 845. Had to ask for rolls because we were starving. Seared tuna was well done, shrimp was over cooked. Two people ordered the same thing but dishes looked completely different. The on filet mignon was thin, flat and way overdone. Very disappointed. Food was also not very warm.
Wonderful experience. Great service with outstanding seafood. Will definitely return.
I’m from out of town and I can see why everyone recommended we dine here. It was incredible
Good food, excellent service, historic location on the river.
We decided to treat our family of 5 (two adults, a teen and two toddlers) to a special dinner on the 4th. We have been to the Grand Concourse for brunch, work lunches and date night in the past. We thought this would be a night of making new memories here as a family. We left with a bad taste and aggravating memories. We were seated at 720. Didn't get food until 830. Took 20-30 mins to get our drinks. We never received any bread. When the food arrived, my husband's dinner was warm but not fresh(crab cakes), youngest daughter's was fine (butter noodles...how can you screw that up?), middle daughter's food was awful (hamburger requested medium, got well and covered in salt...as in, you could see the salt gleaming), mine wasn't horrible but cold and greasy (coconut shrimp and crab cakes) and my oldest daughters meal was horrible (medallions and potato cakes were like cold hockey pucks). They did take one plate back and brought out a new plate for my oldest that ended up being decent. We spent 160 including tip after they took off one adult meal and one kid meal. 160 is still expensive for a crappy meal at a fine dining establishment. It was the 4th of July and they were understaffed due to people calling off. We tipped our waiter on what would be our original meal cost knowing the challenges that he and the restaurant faced that night. Other than two meals being removed from the bill, we didn't get an apology from management or any further communications. Overall disappointed and doubtful we will return anytime soon.
Exceptional, Excellent, Professional, Service by Chef and staff.
Mark was the waiter and very accommodating to our interests.
Ambiance is classic at its best.
Location ideal overlooking city.
Just a surprisingly nice and pleasant all around experience.
A must go-to restaurant.
Amazing food, amazing service. Waitress was great, we just moved to the area from the West coast.
Love the atmosphere of the place and view of the city! The lamb meatballs are delicious.
Went for brunch with my girlfriend. Excellent food, service was great, very relaxing. They did not make you feel like they were in a hurry for you to leave and turn your table. My first time there. Had a great experience. Everyone was very polite. Would highly recommend.
The food was cold... The guy manning the banana's foster station was unfriendly and was putting raw brown sugar and cold butter on ice cream, he wasn't let it cook enough in the skillet... Most of the staff were unfriendly and unkempt.. Won't be returning...
It was awesome we celebrated a friends birthday and my closing. Amazing food, will always come back
A little pricey, but the options are endless and generally of good quality. Probably the best brunch in Pittsburgh. The omelettes and freshly made donuts are especially good
Went there to celebrate a anniversary food was excellent service was amazing will definitely return to celebrate in the future
Great service and food. Attentive while not overbearing.
Beautiful old building houses ambience, views, great food and good service. Staff is friendly, interested, helpful, and professional.
Me and my two girl friends went for lunch and had a great time. Great service, good food options, and the meal was reasonably priced.
We could not have asked for a better experience. Arden was a fantastic server he took great care of us. I am a former employee of the Engine House #5 in Columbus Ohio. The Grand Concourse has been on my bucket list for many years. I was thrilled to see some familiar dishes that tasted exactly as I remembered. The Martha’s Vineyard salad and Charlie’s chowder were fantastic!! We also had oysters Rockefeller, scallops, calamari and a delicious chocolate dessert. Thank you for making our dining experience everything I expected and more.
Wonderful evening. The staff was helpful and efficient and the food was prepared perfectly and set up as a colorful and tasteful plate. Thank you.
Took my daughter and son-in-law to the brunch, per their request, for their birthdays. As usual, the brunch was excellent, service very good, and the birthday desserts were such a special touch. Love this place but always eat too much. But it was worth it !!!
Sunday brunch at the Grand Concourse is a Pittsburgh tradition. The food is amazing and the views of downtown Pittsburgh are breathtaking. Brunch at the Grand Concourse is a must when visiting Pittsburgh!!
My wife and I went to the Grand Concourse and ate in the river room for our anniversary. The entire staff made our evening a very classy affair and we will be back.
My husband and I made a reservation for lunch to celebrate a "big birthday" for me. We arrived early and asked if we could be seated early. We were told that was "no problem". We had a wonderful view of the river and downtown Pittsburgh. We each had a "starter"-wedge salad for me and New England clam chowder for my husband. They were both fantastic. Our server kept a close eye on us so that we were not rushed in any way from completing our starters to ordering our entrees. Each of our entrees was perfectly prepared and we enjoyed them a lot. I was surprised that our server did not offer us dessert. To my great surprise, the server brought us a large platter on which the words "Happy Birthday" were spelled out in chocolate sauce and on the platter was a creme brulee for two!! What a happy surprise! We spent two wonderful hours at the Grand Concourse and enjoyed every moment.
Great setting and excellent food...ask for a table overlooking the river.
I have at this restaurant many times, the food and service are always excellent!
Always great food and service
Awful service, even when not busy. Waiter barely apologized, and was at the edge of rude. Embarrassing demonstration of a lack of quality service from what used to be a quality restaurant.
One of the more beautiful spaces we’ve experienced for dining. Attentive service, great food.
