This is a wonderful restaurant. The food is made with imagination and a light touch. The menu is varied and inviting. Staff couldn’t be more welcoming and professional.
Menu looked good, food sucked.
The food took an hour. The steak was way over cooked the manager comped the meal. They responded to a bad situation very well.
Fun atmosphere, great food and terrific service... Thanks
Grand central is a great place to eat breakfast or dinner. The food was delicious, and the drinks were well poured. Jeff our waiter was great. Highly recommend it.
The kitchen was backed up according to staff but an effort needs to be made to let diners know this. Other than that the food was delicious.
Open concept makes the room very noisy and difficult to hear your party talk. Food and service were very good, though. Looking forward to going back and sitting outside when it gets cooler.
Finally tried Grand Central after some friends mentioned they had eaten there. It was a Sunday night, and only about 3 tables were occupied. Space is pretty cavernous when not busy, and I can’t imagine how loud the place would be if full given all the hard surfaces. Food was okay—nothing special. Salmon was good, halibut over-cooked and dry, and not much flavor. Smallest starter green salad I have seen. Too many other options in PS, so probably won’t be back soon.
Love this place. Very fresh menu, great staff and perfectly located in the heart of Palm Springs. Big windows for people watching. Always a perfect option for something casual with friends.
Great Staff and fun atmosphere. We love eating here and look forward to our next visit. Thanks...
First time at Grand Central for dinner. It was fantastic. Ended up using the Restaurant Week menu and everything was so great. Cauliflower steak very good, beet salad quite large, pinko crusted shrimp started was 4 very large shrimp. Can't say enough about Luke the bartender/waiter. Very professional, attentive and didn't miss a beat. Definitely going back.
Had lunch here when they first opened and I wasn’t impressed. We decided to give dinner a try during restaurant week. I was impressed. The entire meal was nicely presented and was delicious. Our waitress was delightful. My only complaint would be that the noise level is high, so I would recommend dining outside, weather permitting. We’ll be back soon.
I have been coming to Grand Central over the past year. This is my first time for dinner. Staff is very friendly and attentive. The menu has many delicious offerings. I chose the Lamb Bolognese. This was a first. I was so delighted with the taste and presentation. Everyone at the table were exclaiming about their selections. I will return again and again.
I’d been for breakfast and lunch. Didn’t know they had dinner until restaurant week came along. I love the design of this spacious, open, light filled space. My restaurant week dinner was outstanding. Started with the beet and orange salad recommended by my most excellent waiter. Not your ordinary beet salad and the dressing so so good. My salmon was mouthwatering from the first bite. The chickpeas veggies and sauce maybe could have been a bit zestiest but the salmon stood on its own quite well. Finished with the housemaid sorbets and berries, a perfectly light and refreshing finish. Wine pairings available as a bonus. Just go.
Restaurant week - tried the pre fix. Great value. Salads were spectacularly fresh, great house made dressing. Lamb bolognaise surprised with savory quality- an unexpected and well orchestrated pairing. The chicken havarti was tender and generously portioned. Sweet treat sorbet and gelato added a nice finish. Their draft beer selection from North Coast brewery was excellent- good to have options when not all are wine enthusiasts!
This experience ranks as one of the worst experiences I have ever had in a restaurant. We were watching all of the tables around us and we were not the only ones there having a bad experience. Everyone around us seemed to be having a bad experience with poor service and bad food. Our food came after about an hour wait. The steak was dry and the potatoes tasted like they were frozen from the grocery. I tasted it by taking a couple of bites but really wasn't interested in eating it because it was so bad. Normally when a waiter takes away my plate and I have only taken a couple of bites of food they will ask me if everything was ok. They just took the plate and brought the check. It is a beautiful space. I hope they get it together or that the next restaurant in that space does better.
The food was amazing, and the manager (John) was hospitable.
We were underwhelmed. That being said it was mother's day. Service was slow but the kitchen was slower - it took an hour to get our food after we ordered. The food was good when we got it. The room is very, very loud.
Based on the food I'd give it another try.
Disappointed with the corn meal grits and shrimp. The shrimp was delicious but the grits resembled cream of wheat. Although, the waiter did inform us but when pairing shrimp with grits, hominy grits is the real deal. Therefore, I would not recommend the grits and shrimp. The salmon and Impossible burger were great meals. The waiter was wonderful.
Food was good. Ambiance wasn’t that excited. Lacked a vibe.
Will probably give this place a second chance but our first visit was uninspiring. We have a vacation home in PS and visit frequently and are familiar with all of the better dining venues. The service at Grand Central was slow, they seemed to be understaffed with too few servers attending too many tables so we had to wait to get attention which is not the end of the world but the wait was l o n g. The server got our order wrong (we ordered a steak salad and received a steak entree). OK fine, we asked them to bring a side salad which they did. The food was OK but nothing special. In a town hungry for more dining options Grand Central will probably survive just fine. My biggest gripe is how loud this place is. Stone floors, brick walls, wooden tables, unfinished industrial/loft ceiling of concrete. You couldn't design a louder echo chamber if you tried. We needed to almost shout to be heard and the server was leaning in close to hear our order. It seems the owners have made zero effort to introduce any sound baffling materials. There are a range of steps owners can take to stifle loud bright echoic rooms. Ceiling acoustic panels are not expensive. A thick drapery wall hanging can eat sound. At Cafe Gratitude in Venice Beach the underside of the tables is quilted fabric so the sound doesn't bounce around the room - why did they invest in such a thing that people cannot see? Because people dine out not only to eat but to converse with friends and if I can't have a conversation without shouting then I will go elsewhere. Last year I dined at an expensive restaurant in downtown LA and the Maître D asked on departure if the acoustics were OK because he had just installed a baffle system after noise complaints in his massive industrial space - yes the sound was great. I understand soft furnishings are a headache to clean and so many cafes are made solely from wipe-down surfaces but if no attention is paid to ceilings or walls then riot of sound will deter visitors.
Grand Central is located in the central part of Palm Springs. The restaurant is like a retro diner inside. I'd like to say it was a great place to eat but it just falls short in several ways. The cocktails are small and not cheap. The food is original but doesn't hold your attention. I had a chicken burger that was good, but too many flavors going on. Our friend had halibut. He said it was good but nothing special and the portion was pretty small for the price. Our server was attentive, but he was stretched among several tables.
Great food, service and wine collection. Central location. Eclectic ambience.
Our second visit to the restaurant. Great meal and great service. It is a bit loud (especially with a small child not too far from us), but the overall experience is delightful. Thanks...
Sorry to be negative on food, but service was just fine.
Food was very bland, especially the appetizers. Main dishes were somewhat better.
Tried them for dinner, food was over dressed and seemed like it was reheated from brunch. Service was ok, then waiter just disappeared while we were trying to pay our check.
Good food, good service, good ambiance! Overall we had a great experience on our first visit to Grand Central. Their menu had something for everyone and the food was delicious. I recommend and would return.
Food is good value. Chairs are HORRIBLE!! Would have stayed for more wine and dessert but couldn’t be comfortable in those lovely to look at, horrible to experience chairs. Only skinny derrières can fit and clientele does not fit that demographic.
Found this fun restaurant totally by accident. What a fun place with great Staff and a nice atmosphere. We will definitely be back. Thanks...
We had a great dinner would definitely go again
Our Saturday night dinner club enjoyed the feel of the room, the food was above average, the cocktails were great, the staff were engaging and friendly and all agreed we would definitely come back for more . . .
Excellent, attentive wait staff and ownership. Tasty food. Small portions for a big eater but fair pricing. Only downside is noise. Poor acoustics in old remodeled building. No romantic spot just yet but a definite go back again place.
We walked in just before closing and we were welcomed and taken very good care of! Our waiter suggested food selections that were spot on! The cocktails were fantastic as was the food! breakfast is served all day! the breakfast tacos were great!
This was our first time here for dinner and it far surpassed our expectations!
The service was very good but the food is just ok. It was my second time there with the same experience. It is extremely noisy due to poor acoustics.
Portions were small for the soup and steak salad. Sent them back for more. The sandwiches were large and fries decent. Service was good but the staff forgot our appetizer. Don’t know if I would go back.
Fantastic addition to Palm Springs. Chicken burger is amazing
Had all day breakfast late in the afternoon. Waiter gave great recommendations, service was very good and price was right. If I’m ever in the area I’d dine there again.
The food was great the staff were better. We met Aaron one of the owners who was very attentive and incredible person. Our server Garrett was very attentive to our table needs. Thank you.
