Knowledgeable and professional staff. Imaginative food perfectly prepared.
Over half the restaurant was empty and they took 10 minutes to seat us in a table that had been open the whole time. Food was overpriced and my boyfriend hardly touched his entree because it was not good.
This place was great! I ordered the poached eggs they were really good. The mimosas were really good, one of the best mimosas I ever had. The banana and chocolate bread was fresh and warm. I didn’t rate this place a 5 because I felt like the waitress was rushing us. She was really nice, but constantly asked if we wanted our meals to be boxed although we were still eating.
The food was excellent. Those who served knew what they liked and spoke of the extraordinary dishes
that required the touch of a poet.
Grand Cafe is my personal favorite restaurant in the twin cities. The ambiance is understated casual/elegant, muted colors and nothing in your face. Here you can easily imagine you are dining in some tucked away corner of Prague. So the setting is conducive to relaxed intimacy, but the food does not disappoint. Grand Cafe has a chef that clearly loves to create original dishes. Some of the dishes suggest a French influence but nothing feels heavy or overly buttery, as French food can. Truly a delightful dining experience, with respectful and attentive service to match.
Food was excellent! Service was outstanding! Will definitely visit again.
Grand Cafe is a neighborhood gem. Simple but elegant decor. Beautifully prepared and presented food. Small but satisfying portions. Service is excellent. Gets very busy after 7pm. There is a small bar as well overlooking kitchen that would be fun to dine at.
Our table was nearly one hour late, and then the food also took a very long time. Food is delicious at this place, but the last thing I want on a Monday night is to be at dinner for 3 hours. This was the most exhausting dinner experience of my life, and this is not the first time we wait a long time for our reserved table to be ready, so it seems this is how they run their business. They were nice offering wine and appetizers while we waited at the bar, but that was not the experience we were hoping for. To be honest, it's unlikely I will come back to this place. Great good but extremely poor dinning service
Great food and amazing service. David was exceptional. His knowledge of the menu and wines pairings were perfect.
We thought it was overpriced for the food/wine. WE might go back for a special occasion but otherwise it was not your place where you go frequently.
The service was excellent. The room was noisy but visually serene. Wine list was excellent. Some dishes were superb with interesting seasoning/sauces, others (especially chicken dish) disappointed. Definitely on expensive side. recommend reviewing menu first.
Will definitely come again but need to spread my visits out a bit. To really enjoy the experience, it can get quite expensive.
Excellent dining experience. Both classic French sauces handled beautifully, as well as creative new combinations. Can't wait to go back!
Loved the food and the staff was very gracious. We will return.
Loved, loved, loved Grand Cafe! The service was impeccable. The food; divine. I felt as if I was back in Paris. The brunch was wonderful. Will be back for dinner.
I think they are making some of the best, most imaginative food in Minneapolis.
Food is excellent but expensive. Some portions are very small for the price. The crab omelette is outstanding, but is it worth $35?
As first timers, we were a little unsure of what to expect, but the three of us thoroughly enjoyed our entire experience!
The restaurant itself is styled beautifully. It's "on trend" without being obnoxious or overly done. The wait staff is incredible. Not only did our waitress do a wonderful job of keeping track of our table but all of the other servers would also fill our water if they walked by and saw we needed it. The food was well seasoned and cooked perfectly. Everything was well priced. Overall, my friends and I had a fantastic time and will certainly be back.
This dining experience was disappointing . The service was extremely slow ( not fine dining slow, but slow) and some food arrived cold. One entree was described as , “ having no taste” , another was salty beyond edible ( only ate it because I was starving). Three in my party ordered rib eye and one couldn’t cut it at all and another was extremely tough.
Paul was a great server! Food unique, incredibly tasting. Grand Cafe always goes the extra mile!!!
Food was amazing. Not a single dish that was only “just alright”. Server was friendly and fun. Recommended a wonderful sparkling wine that was fantastic. Lots of time in between courses but it was a busy Saturday night so was not unexpected. We sat indoors as it was a hot day, but the inside was just as hot, if not hotter. That was the biggest drawback - the temperature. The building is older so am sure it is hard to keep it cool, especially with the open kitchen right there. We will be back again for sure. One of my favorites!
My husband and I had a wonderful dining experience at Grand Café. The food was amazing - I can't say enough about the foie gras except order it and you will understand. Each dish was amazingly delicious and perfectly presented. The staff was knowledgeable and assisted with wine pairings when asked. We will make sure we dine here again.
Here’s the thing about Grand Café, I stop in for special occasion meals and feel like I should be eating there weekly.
It’s an amazing value for the quality of food and level of service in a neighborhood gem. I am graciously welcomed when I walk in the door, consistently served amazing food and leave wanting more.
Our server was amazing. Perfect. They were the perfect amount of attentive, informative, knowledgeable, personable, patient, encouraging, affirming, everything.
The best food and the warmest atmosphere in town! New menu items like chicken pithivier are at the same high level as the older items like the pike quenelle in Sauce Nantua and crayfish.
What an amazing meal! Thank you Grand Cafe for the excellent service and for the amazing food!
Very nice, intimate atmosphere. We were seated in the South room where it was a bit more quiet. The North room seemed too noisy to talk. We were warned by our server that food was slow coming out of the kitchen. This was helpful to set our expectations because it was very very slow. The chickpea panisse appetizer was only fair. My duck was great...the sauce was wonderful. Half of the rib-eye steak was good. The other half was gristle.
Grand Cafe is always a delight!
Delicious and rich food. Made a birthday experience extra special. Love all the interior and accessory touches.
Waited nearly 2 hours for entree' and our reservation was @ 5:00 pm. Needed Google to decipher menu items. A truly amazing "dining experience" with nearly everything on the menu something I'd never eaten before! Interesting clientele. Avant!
Another wonderful experience at Grand Cafe! The new cauliflower in brioche and chicken pithivier were fantastic!
Delicious food, we had the “snack attack” pre fixed menu and it was a delightful variety of styles and dishes that rivaled the best tasting menus in the city
Service was slow and inattentive. Ambiance was drab and a greasy fish smell was very noticeable and permeated our clothing and hair. Food was interesting and well prepared but overpriced. We left feeling disappointed and unsatisfied and decided we would not return. We would be hesitant to recommend this restaurant to others.
The whole staff at Grand made our anniversary a dream! Everyone went above and beyond to make our night extra special, plus the food was fantastic.
Amazing!!!
Always consistent and outstanding. One of our go to spots when in Minneapolis.
The servers were very good, but it took a long time for the food to be served.
The noise level was outrageous. Could not hear our dinner guests from across the table
Food was great, once it was served.
Superb! Our meal was creative, inspired, delicious, well-portioned and excellently played and served. Server Paul
was attentive and helpful with wine and food selection. We sat outside and enjoyed the cool late-May evening, but the energy and liveliness inside was palpable.
Highly recommended.
Tasty new fresh ideas. Small oysters. Interesting chicken pithivier (en croute). Bass crudo meh. Angel food cake dessert heavenly. Amusing , go-with wines. All around good time. Looking forward to going back as the menu changes to see what’s new.
