Ate here the evening of the Boston Marathon. Pizza and beer never tasted so good!! Very friendly staff.
Great 1st experience. our beautiful waitress, Abmerly, she was amazing. very attentive, right on with her recommendations. all around great experience.
Wrong food delivered and slow service
Very good food
When I am in Boston, I always make time to stop in here and grab a pint and delicious food. Thank you again for the wonderful experience. Cheers!
Disappointed, the chicken in the chicken and waffles was greasy and the fries that came with the grilled chicken sandwich were also greasy and looked like they were cooked in old oil. Also, don’t mess with waffles, sweet potato waffles were too sweet go back to the basic waffle. Was offered complimentary dessert but declined.
Usually come here for brunch and it's great but lunch was less to be desired. I ordered the Moroccan Lamb which was just bland and not really good. I didn't feel like waiting for another meal to be prepared so I just ate the lamb and left the huge bowl of mess behind. Would not recommend that dish at all. The burger looked good. Probably only order the basics- burgers, fried chicken and you'll be happy.
We have been here numerous times and it is always extremely consistent and high quality. This time may have been one of the best tasting brunches I have had.
Great menu and great location. Warmth and ambiance to spare. I gave a “moderate” sound-level rating because when we sat down, we immediately had to ask them to turn down annoying night-club level dance music which serves no purpose in a family restaurant. The people next to us agreed and said “too loud!” The staff complied and reduced the volume by half allowing us to enjoy a great meal.
This was a mostly disappointing dining experience. I had reserved a high top table for 6, when I arrived they didn’t have that table available, so we took a regular table, and which wasn’t much of an issue. The service was fine, but that’s all. Drinks were fine as well, didn’t take much time. The server seemed a bit confused or maybe just uninformed about the menu as she had trouble describing some simple elements of the dishes. The Chicken and Waffles tasted alright. The waffles were the star of the show, and that’s pretty sad. The chicken lacked flavor, and there was a very small amount. I typically wouldn’t complain about portion sizes, but I received two drumsticks that were only slightly larger than a standard buffalo wing. We ordered two flatbreads, however they were not flatbreads. They were round, not flat, and very doughy. I don’t understand how, but they were both tasteless. It was as if zero spices were used at all. It’s bad when you mess up pizza this badly. The Steak Frites dish was the worst. It showed Up slightly over cooked. The meat was very chewy, it was comparable to beef you’d find in stew. The truffle fries were quite literally dripping in grease. The greens were lovely. The fish and chips were alright. We also got potato chips, and those were really good. This had potential, but someone needs to take a more active role in the food preparation. I don’t think I’ll return for another visit, maybe for the chips though.
Nice restaurant with quality, reasonably priced, food. I would definitely go again.
Food was sub-par
Went here for my birthday with my family, and the service was spotty at best. We had to ask 3 times to 3 different people for silverware and napkins over the course of 15-20 minutes, meanwhile our apps were sitting on the table getting cold. Everything about the service was slow as molasses and it negatively impacted the tone of the celebration.
We needed a place close to the Custom House for dinner. After reading some reviews, I thought we would try this out. Chowder was excellent. Sour cream in there? Dinner was also excellent. Everyone picked something different and all was enjoyed. Service was outstanding. She was very attentive. Good beer choices. If you are down by the Acquarium and don't want to eat on the water or at Quincy Market, a good choice.
I have been many times. The food is consistently excellent. The menu has a few different options added each time I have gone and I always sample them to see what is new. I have never been disappointed! The staff and management are wonderful. The last time I was there was St. Patrick's Day. There was live music, it was crowded and festive and the corned beef and cabbage amazing. I would and do highly recommend Granary Tavern for a great meal and a fun night out!
The cauliflower is a must! The service was great.
Great kitchen for brunch. The bloody Mary had too much horseradish, though. Nice interior, but lots of families with kids being so close to the aquarium.
Wasn't that busy didn't really need the reservation. We were seated but don't think the server was told so it was 20 minutes before we were asked what we wanted to drink and order. The ciabatta bread was to hard to bite through the sandwich we ordered. The brownie was delicious.
Great brunch spot downtown. Warm, welcoming environment. Trendy but still good for families. Fabulous service!
Typical bar style casual restaurant. Food was good .Server was on slow side and when we ask about drinks on the drink had no idea what we were talking about.
Good service , good food
We walked into restaurant and had this overwhelming smell of fish. The hostess led us to a table in a different room so we thought we would try that room. When we got to table there were people standing all around our table speaking really loud. We actually walked out and went to restaurant right next door.
We went because we were staying at the Hilton a block or two away. We are a family of 5 with a middle schooler and two high school kids. We visited on a Friday during lent so we were limited.
The food is really fantastic. We loved two apps: potato chips & cauliflower. Both yum! I loved the mushroom flatbread but the fam loved the margarita. The thai salad had too much dressing but it was ok.
We all agreed that if we visit Boston again we will be back.
Good food in a lively atmosphere
We stopped in with two kids after an afternoon at the aquarium. The staff took good care of us and made us feel comfortable. The kids enjoyed the food (corndogs and fresh fruit) and we enjoyed our lunch specials. All in all, an easy experience and one that we would recommend to others.
The food was great and our server attentive. However, we requested a "quiet or corner table" and that didn't happen. We were seated right by the entrance, it was a freezing cold day, and one of our party was just getting over being sick. I even said to the hostess upon arrival, this doesn't look to be very quiet - and she just gave me a "what do you want me to do" look and said "we're very busy today". Two different parties with children were seated beside us, the second table had very "active" children. It was difficult for the five of us to converse, between the children and the cold.
My husband and I were attending an dance event at the long wharf and needed something in walking distance. We both ordered the scallops. It was excellent, fresh and delish! Service was very good too. Highly recommend!
Excellent food, great ambiance, and prices very reasonable! Dessert was delicious!
Granary Tavern has a great american styled menu with a nice drink selection. Their Cauliflower appetizer (with sweet and spicy chili sauce) is delicious. The menu has great variety with classic entrees, salads, flatbreads, and more.
This is a wonderful casual dining establishment that works great for families and kids. My daughter had her wedding rehearsal dinner here and the menu options were wonderful for the oldest to the youngest flower girl. We have also used it as a meeting place for informal family gatherings. The atmosphere is inviting and the food is really good. We will definitely come back the next time we are in Boston.
Very upbeat place and great for get togethers!
Great food and atmosphere. Brussels sprouts with bacon are aaaahmazing!
Amazing! Delicious food, great service, and for downtown Boston, reasonable prices! An appetizer, two meals and a dessert came in under 50 bucks. Great for date night! Try the truffle fries!
Thai salad with Tuna was terrible. My clients left the whole salad untouched. Bang bang cauliflower was great.
It was solid. No complaints
Service was excellent even though it was quite busy.
I dont know whats happened to Granary but its gone down hill significantly in the past year. In one of my last visits we had to send four beers back as they tasted like bleach. This time, the service was very slow - 45 mins to get food at lunch is ridiculous. The veggie burger was uncooked, the salad looked like it was from last week. The rest of the food was just bland. Even our group's favorite - bang bang cauliflower wasn't that good. Even one of the staff said - don't come back here, go to the place on the other side. Guess, we'll just have to cross this one off our options list. Too bad...
Had Thai salad. Very crunchy and dry. It was like eating potato chips on top of lettuce.
Waitress seemed overwhelmed and never had appetizers come out. But all other experiences here have been great
Loved this place! We will definitely return. Food was delicious, ambiance was fantastic. Rustic, home-y and elegant. Loved that they had a kids menu and chocolate milk for my son! Service was impressive. The waitress had the cooks split our meals since my mom and I were sharing. Fabulous little gem across from the aquarium.
