i love the granary. great cozy atmosphere and innovative food choice. we were there fir brunch and could ho there every week.
I’m not sure what happened to the Granary, we were so terribly disappointed to see one of our favorite Boston restaurants had lost its luster. The food quality, the drinks (ordered 2 of the same cocktail and they were completely different, neither of which were correct), and the service…we were kind and understanding of the gal (everybody has a rough/busy night). But, she had served three other four-tops, that arrived after our party of four, and one of those three tables then sat another party…we were still sitting there, waiting for food/a glance/anything! If you’re looking for the classic Granary, it’s not there anymore.
Great restaurant. Trinity, our server, was spectacular. But, but, but MUSIC IS JUST TOO LOUD. Was difficult to enjoy ourselves.
The granary was a great place food- wise. The problem I had with it was that the music was just too loud.
Despite having to use a credit card to hold the reservation, the restaurant appeared to be very crowded and not considerate of rising Covid levels in the city. Tables weren’t spaced for safety.
The place was very noisy and the music was so loud, everyone had to yell to be heard or understood.
The food was tasty. But when my friend and I asked for hot tea to go with our brunch, we were brought a half cup of lukewarm brown water which had been obviously pulled from a coffee maker. By the time the server brought around a tray of tea bags, the water was cold and when we asked for a pot of hot water, it never came.
Our food came in a timely fashion but the beverage service was less than adequate. Another in our party had to ask twice for the beer he ordered. My partner had to ask for his coffee and then again for cream and sugar.
At no time were our water glasses refilled nor were we asked if we needed or wanted anything. We even had to go to the hostess stand for our check.
This is sadly a typical story of dining during Covid. The staff when we saw them were friendly, they just seemed overwhelmed and service suffered .
Brunch service- food was fine. Service was poor, forgetful, error prone, and staff appeared overworked. Music was playing far too high- it was difficult to communicate with staff or selves. Amazingly, the staff turned it even further up half way through the meal. However, they turned it down immediately on asking.
Service was terrible. 30 minutes for a coke. 15 min for kids chocolate milk. No lunch on weekends (only brunch).
Waitress was a Gem! Had a blast with friends and good food!
Great oysters, chopped salad wonderful and the cauliflower appetizer was delicious!
We've eaten at Granary Tavern many times, and they always deliver a reliable dining experience--especially when accommodating groups! The cocktails are excellent, and the bang bang cauliflower is sensational! I noticed the menu changes around seasonally, so it's nice that Granary offers different variety throughout the year. We look forward to going back!
Not as great as it used to be. Ambiance and location are great. Service was just ok- no check backs or anything so we had to flag server for drinks. Could have just been an off night but it was not very busy. We were in and out in less than 45 minutes, so it was slightly rushed.
Great food and great service. Fun place!
Came by for an early dinner after a Bruins game with 12 people and they were very accommodating, food and service were both excellent.
The service was great for a large group of 8!
Bang Bang Cauliflower was delicious and crispy on the outside. Just perfect.
We loved this restaurant. The bang bang cauliflower was a great appetizer. I had the duck entree which was truly remarkable - one of the best duck dishes I've had in a restaurant. My husband had the burger which was a bit uninspired but had great flavor.
The waiter was absolutely awful. I ordered a non-alcoholic beer and he immediately began to act like I wasn't worth his time. I had to ask for a glass for the beer 3 times, had to ask twice for a second beer. Had to ask twice for a box. Twice for the bill. Never came to check on our food. 15 min for salt and pepper once we were able to catch him walking by. The place was practically empty at 4:45pm, business was not the problem.
I'd definitely return to the granary but this particular server was a nightmare.
Great atmosphere and food. Our waiter was so-so but that has not been my experience with this location in the past.
It was extremely loud and very disappointed that there wasn’t any beers on tap or much too choose from.
This was our second visit and it will be our last. The pancakes were thin and tough, not fluffy. The cup of coffee was small and not replenished without asking. We asked for lemons and they were placed on our table on a cocktail napkin rather than a plate or bowl. The first time we visited, we were able to order from the brunch and lunch menus at noon, but this time only the brunch menu. The meal cost us as much as our dinner out the night before and was not half as good. Very disappointing.
They had no exterior heaters. It was also understaffed. Food was good, but would NOT eat outside in the late season.
Excellent food at good prices! Glad we made a reservation though.
We had a new server but she did a great job. The food was prepared very well and with only one exception came out on a timely basis. I would go back.
The only minor complaint was that the music was loud to carry on a conversation. The music was turned down immediately once we asked and everything was fine. Great place for a small gathering.
Food was fine. Service was slow and so was the waitress… but the restaurant was in a good location and the ambiance was nice.
Hi Stacy, Thanks for reaching out. As you can imagine the labor shortage has been quite difficult for us, we are working to train the staff we do have to the best of our ability. We hope you'll come back and join us again soon!
This was a terrible experience. We were ignored at our table for a long time despite attracting the waiter's attention. When someone finally arrived she was surly and non communicative and rude. She left in a huff and we decided to leave after such terrible treatment. The owners should review their staff and do some work on customer care.
Great service, great food! Could use better lighting.
noted, thanks for sharing!
Such a disappointment. Steak was way under done, food was ok, service was awful.
Amazing food and service. Will definitely be back!
Great service and lovely dinner! Thanks, Miranda, for accomodating the kids’ birthday table separate from my husband and me! We will def be back!
Awesome, thank you so much for sharing this. We are lucky to have Maranda on our team :)
Solid selection of entrees. Opted for the Kale caesar salad with salmon - very good - light with a substantial piece of fish.
Glad to hear it Eric!
Overall a solid brunch option. Food was tasty, but 1) 3 plates arrived with 4th a solid 10 mins later and 2) avocado toast came missing seasoning and a few ingredients. Waiter was decently responsive, but didn't ask about coffee refills and didn't proactively manage either issue referenced above. Good value for the money, outside seating is lovely.
Hi Kata, Thank you for your honest review, we hope you'll come back and join us again soon!
Great atmosphere, love the windows being open, and the great drinks and food!
Great meal. Took a bit of time for the waitress to wait on us. But after that it was fine.
Waitress took long but food was great
The service was horrible. Our waitress was not friendly and did not pay any attention to us. The food was okay and not worth the price.
Great outside seating. We could hear the concert in the park and even though there were a lot of people out and about, it felt private. Great food! Try BangBang Cauliflower!!!
Very pleasant evening with great food and great ambiance.
Skip the dirty dish-water “coffee” at brunch. And the chicken and waffles. Burned fried chicken,m. Didn’t complain, but def was not satisfied.
Great appetizers and a fun vibe! Get the clam chowder!
Filet mignon was tasteless. Way undercooked for Medium rare. Had to send one back, barely cooked Got some drinks wrong, Waitress did not know what kind of pasta was in Pasta of the day! Called it guitar? We asked about dessert and wanted one of the only 2 they had and she came back and said they did not have one of them? We know help is hard to find right now but this was pretty bad. Waitress must have said she was sorry about a dozen times. Never going again, so many other choices in Boston.
