What Insiders Are Saying
Gramercy Tavern is an incredible restaurant. But you already know that. The bar is the move you want to make here, and you want to make it often.
Came here for our engagement dinner. Food and service were both outstanding. Beautiful restaurant.
Food and service beyond expectation. A truly marvelous experience.
I arranged to take a dear friend for a special lunch at Gramercy Tavern. She’d never been and is about to move to the other side of the country. We had the tasting menu with matched wines. Wonderful meal and service from start to finish - with the added touch of a completely unexpected Bon Voyage cake at the end. Really kind and friendly wait staff who take pride in providing excellent food and service. I love the fact that Gramercy Tavern includes the service in the bill. This policy, along with delicious food and delightful people, helps make it, along with Sushi Yasuda, amongst our favorite restaurants in NYC.
Food was incredible and was service. Desserts were the best.
All of the courses were very unique and great until the palette cleansing sorbet (very strange flavor) with olive oil and salt and the dessert (frozen green Sorrel) that tasted like frozen Broccoli.
Fantastic meal. Seasonal and inventive food in beautifully composed but not precious presentation. Absolutely top notch service. Superb cheese course. Just overall wonderful.
I get together with friends for lunch about every month....Gramercy Tavern has become our go-to place. We wouldn't think of going anywhere else. Hope to see you soon.
Great anniversary dinner! Food and service were excellent!
Outstanding in every way! Unforgettable!
As ever, dining at Gramercy Tavern is a pleasure for your taste buds and your spirit. The food is...crisply (pun intended) divine; cooked to perfection and simply but elegantly presented. The wait-staff is friendly and attentive, and the restaurant extends itself (in our case, with sparkling cider--we do not drink--and an adorable cake inscribed with celebratory wishes for our anniversary) in a generous and lovely way. Gramercy Tavern has been "our place" to celebrate for a number of years, and we expect that to continue.
We had an amazing and magical evening at The Gramercy Tavern. While the food was incredibly succulent and superb, the atmosphere and hospitality was over the top. We felt loved and cared for the entire evening. They lavished us with one of the best experiences a customer could have at a Restaurant. Thank You!

Waiter was really unfriendly and not around much. Waited a long time to get served. We went on a recommendation and I’m too embarrassed to tell my friend what I really thought if the experience. Generally snooty servers.
Buenos costales y comida gourmet. Son muy estrictos con la hora de la reserva y es bastante costoso.
Lovely dinner! Chef Michael Anthony does not disappoint, vegetable tasting menu was delicious. Slightly unimpressed with the sweet potato course and the carrot salad but the other courses were out of this world. My menu was modified to accommodate a vegan diet. The dessert was sorbet with sliced almonds, it was good but not what I expect of a michelin star restaurant. I love this restaurant and rank as one of my absolute favorites but hope, one day, a proper vegan dessert will be served.
Our favorite NYC restaurant 15 years and counting.
Well, My wife and I were celebrating our 5th year wedding anniversary and I have heard about Gramercy Tavern but our experience was simply amazing. The food was excellent and they were so gracious and they even brought us a little desert and wrote Happy Anniversary on the plate.
We had an outstanding experience there and I would highly recommend the restaurant to anyone..
It was a great experience. Foods were great, services were great too.
Ivan Rios does an excellent job as well as Marci Hass
My friend and I enjoyed the tasting menu. Everything was pretty good. I would have thought there would have been more seasonal items on the menu. For instance spaghetti squash with apples screams fall to me. The service was exceptional and the wine list including by the glass was great.
Amazing, beautiful restaurant with so much charm and character! Entres and desserts were amazing along with their cocktails. A must in NYC.
Really amazing first anniversary dinner. Very attentive service. We were greeted with prosecco upon arrival since we noted in our reservation that we were celebrating. We did the tasting menu which is by far the way to go. I am not a huge seafood eater, so they actually let me do half of the vegetarian tasting menu and have the traditional which was really nice. Every course was spectacular. They even brought out a complimentary coconut meringue cake at the end with "Happy Anniversary" written in chocolate. The atmosphere was sophisticated and special without being pretentious and overdone which was really perfect for us. Really special evening that we'll never forget!
Fab staff, amazing food, wonderful all around, thank you to the kitchen for the beautiful and delicious anniversary wishes!!!
Excellent all around. Ala carte menu for lunch seemed limited but everything was well done, somewhat unique and service was spectacular.
This was my thrid time there in the past 6 months. The food was amazing. Our server, Mike was one of the best waiters I have ever had. He was attentive and informative. The entire wait staff was "spot on"
Wonderful experience. Great food and tremendous service
First fine dining experience in NYC and this was for my lovely friends birthday. The service exceeded my expectations. Our waiter for the night was genuine and attentive, im just sad I didn’t catch his name! The food is 10/10 everything we had was delicious! Honest to say this is one of my new favorite fine dining restaurant in the world! Keep up the good work guys!! Have recommended on social media to my fans and friends! Will definitely bring my husband if we’re in town next!
This place nailed it on all counts. The food was interesting and tasty. The service was great. Man, that sour cherry dessert thing was amazing. No really, get it
Gramercy Tavern was warm and welcoming. Outstanding food. Wonderful service. Can’t wait to visit again!
A very sophisticated environment yet very casual. In other words, you’ll feel comfortable dressed up or right at home in your t-shirt (ideally have a collar). Their food is definitely worth many visits. I would say, you can go wrong with any choice you make. Special touch of a cupcake some specialty dessert was offered to help us celebrate our special day. Lastly, I favour the no tip policy that they have adopted.
Good food and experience not great
Food and service were impeccable. I will definitely visit this place again when i re-visit NYC
You really pay through the nose to sit at a linen-draped table in the spacious dining room. The three-course prix-fixe is $129 and many of the selections are bizarre. Cocktails are $25. The vegetarian tasting menu is, believe it or not, $159. For a bunch of carrots! It's all very sedate and patrician barring raucous tables nearby.
Sommelier Tori added some special touches to our evening; we are grateful for her hospitality. A memorable dinner once again at GT!
Outstanding experience overall! Fantastic meal with excellent service!
Wonderful as always♥️
Gramercy Tavern is the restaurant we return to the most often in New York because it balances incredible food with a welcoming atmosphere, and punctuated with professional yet friendly and engaging service. My partner and I were celebrating something special, so we sat in the dining room after only eating in the tavern area previously. The experience in each room is different and unique, but you will have a wonderful experience either way.
First of all, we were thrilled to see that our favorite amazing server from the tavern area, Emily, was assisting in the dining area that night and we got a chance to catch up and share some good laughs. It is always great to see her and she is singlehandedly one of the main reasons we keep coming back.
As for the meal, it was one of the finest we have had at the restaurant, which improved on its already high standards. After a few years from shying away from tasting menus, the new seasonal version with the wine pairing sounded too good to pass up. We started out with the marinated Wellfleet scallops with strawberries, and the buttery texture of the scallop was enhanced by the sweetness of the fruit. The next course was the lobster with asparagus and tarragon, and the sweetness of the lobster paired so nicely with the floral notes of the herbs. Next up was the sea bream with pumpkin seeds and a curry sauce that was delicious. The pasta course with guanciale, clams, and favs beans was wonderfully executed and loved how it fused the tastes of both spring and early summer. The main course was the duck breast and confit that was paired with Swiss chard and quinoa. The balance of flavors here was incredible, and the duck fat penetrating each component of the dish made me wish I could have more. Finally, dessert was a marvelous deconstructed strawberry dessert with angel food and cheesecake.
If you have never been here but are thinking of trying it, I cannot recommend it highly enough. You won’t be disappointed.
The service is impeccable and the food even better.
This is the second time we came. We loved it.
Steven Solomon was our waiter and so fantastic! Food was excellent-loved the carrot cake! Quite pricey but a fun experience in NYC!
