We had a delightful meal in this charming restaurant although all the food was good the desserts were exceptional. It is filled with flowers and good cheer. I would go back in a minte
Fabulous. Thea is our new favorite person on the planet.
Everything on point at this gem of a restaurant. Super attentive and knowledgeable service with a meal paced to linger. My wife and I loved our food and the sommelier was gifted at taking some input on likes and returning the perfect recommendation.
Wonderful restaurant. Fabulous food and service
The food was, as expected creative and delicious. But what really stands out here is the service.
Absolutely Devine! Excellent service, delectable dining, wonderful hospitality & ambiance!
Wonderful service!!! The food was very good, but I’m not sure it was really worth the cost.
Overall one of the best dining experiences we’ve ever had
Amazing restaurant with fantastic service! We recommend!
Amazing in every aspect
Food, service and wine were exceptional
This was a disappointing evening at a famous restaurant that is clearly riding on it's laurels. While some of the meal was "right," the most important aspects were WRONG. My main course -- the pork belly was served cold and it was very salty. The dessert was incorrect when brought to the table and the waiter's overall attitude was surly and that he was doing us a favor to serve us. I told him the food was cold and salty and he didn't seem to care ... in fact, nobody ever came over to the table to ask how things were going. It's a lively, fun place and some of the "extras" ... amuse bouche and mignardises for dessert are fun and tasty. I certainly wouldn't go back with all the great restaurants in New York and was sorry that I had wasted a precious evening on this one. Albert
Outstanding service. Excellent food.
Tonight, it is a bit unprofessional for how it should have been.
We have been to Gramercy Tavern many times over the years, but for the first time the service fell noticeably short. After our order was taken, we felt ignored, and it was difficult to get anyone's attention to get a glass of wine. We waited many minutes before starting our entrees because we didn't have wine to go with them. It was a Sunday night and it felt like they were short-staffed.
Truly fine dining in a welcoming atmosphere. Quite possibly the best value for your money in Manhattan - meaning that it is absolutely worth the number that's going to show up on your credit card bill. All the staff are terrific, but a special shout out to Stephen the Sommellier for his excellent judgement and wit.
Everything was amazing above and beyond!!
Celebrated our anniversary here. Food and service were perfect. Tasting menu was delicious. Very comfortable, not stuffy, atmosphere. Would highly recommend!
A disappointing visit. Went for Sunday brunch/lunch and the food was no where near as memorable as it has been on past visits. Garden salad was underdressed and bland, my wife ordered the lamb medium and it was rare, not even medium rare. Waiter suggested we might like the pear-ginger soda because it wasn't sweet and it became our desert - extremely sweet and it came only after we asked about it a second time. Previously one of our favorite restaurants but nothing was remarkable.
Way overrated and overpriced. Miniscule portions, not that tasty, and getting a granola bar before leaving in case still hungry after spending over $300 on a meal for 2 (very little alcohol), tells you there's a problem. Ambience and staff were excellent, but not worth the money.
Everything about Gramercy Tavern is top notch. The food is, as always, exceptionally well prepared using the best quality ingredients combined in creative, but delicious, ways. The service is as fine as I've ever found, and the staff is always happy to accommodate requests. I am especially happy that the staff is as pleasant and helpful as always, now that the restaurant has gone to a no tipping policy.
On our first few visits we bought wine by the bottle. However, we discovered it was far more convenient to buy it by the glass, which allows us to better tailor both the quantity of wine consumed and the wine's styles to the specific courses. Better yet, we leave that to the sommelier, who always provides excellent choices, well within the parameters we request (style, price).
This is not a place for every day dining, but for a special occasion like a birthday, anniversary, or a day with a vowel in it (!), Gramercy Tavern would be very hard, if even possible, to beat.
Went here with my girlfriend for an anniversary lunch. It was her second time here and my first. Everything from the food, service/staff, ambience was all top notch. This was one of the best meals I’ve ever had. Highly recommend the tasting menu with wine paring. I could rant, but I’ll just say everything was incredible. The flavors were subtle and then built upon each other, the wine was perfectly paired and the service was friendly, knowledgeable and fun. Highly recommend!
My wife and I took our son there the evening before his wedding the next day. It was absolutely perfect. We have dined at many of the finest cafes, restaurants and bistros around the world and Grammercy Tavern should be rated at or near the top for service and unforgettable experiences. It was topped by the presentation and knowledge of Alvaro, the sommelier. Although we can only visit NYC occasionally, we will always think of Grammercy Tavern first for special events in our family life.
Amazing food and experience. Staff are extremely knowledgeable. Brilliant.
Disappointment was the overall theme of the evening. Beautiful décor, great wine and it went downhill from there. Many dishes were way too salty, service was trying with setting all the plates at the same time but then no explanation of what the dishes were or anyone checking how the meal was. We also had to refill our own water and wine glasses throughout the evening. GT dining room not what it used to be. That said, I still frequently enjoy the bar area.
Met my expectations. Cocktails were great and the food and portion sizes left me so satisfied
Wonderful from start to finish. Jason was great, unpretentious and knowledgeable!
Very good value with gratuities included it was less than $100 for a tasting menu for lunch. The staff there are very friendly, except the only thing was we had a few allergies and dietary restrictions at the table, which they accommodated but they kept serving the wrong dish to the wrong person.
I had dinner at main dining and alone.
I visited alone ,but it was comfortable .
I chose 3 course,but enough portion (I eat a lot).
Waiter is very professional and well knowledge.
I chose dishes he recommended, everything is perfect!.He recommended rose wine for bolonese pasta,it’s amazing mariage .
Very nice food, warm and attentive service. A very lovely night out
Everything was just perfect. It could not have gone any better.
We had the prefix lunch menu and it was fantastic. Table service was excellent as always.
The wine portions were too small, and the food selections were far too heavy.
We go often. Love it every time. Whether it's a business meal with a client or colleague, or just for a cocktail, or a quick bar meal, you just can't beat the Tavern for the food, the ambience and the service. All top notch.
Had the seasonal tasting menu - everything was beautiful and delicious. Service was friendly and professional. The second time I’ve been here and had the tasting menu - expensive but well worth it.
Fantastic meal and service! We were blown away by the dishes - spectacular presentation and flavor :)
We went to Gramercy Tavern on a whim to celebrate a birthday prior to the theater. The wait staff was very attentive, responsive to our questions and needs and coordinated the menu with our requested time of departure. They contributed positively to the dining experience and are more than deserving of the included hospitality charge. The orchestration and coordination when serving large parties is quite impressive. We were a small party, but parties--large or small--receive stellar service. Dishes were described with sufficient detail to allow the diner to visually take in the meal prior to consumption. The meals had delectable flavor combinations and were beautifully plated. I always wanted to eat at a Michelin-starred restaurant in NYC. Mission accomplished!
Slight disappointment given the history and name. We will give it another try, maybe an off day.
Fabulous as always. Always impressed
