Our Tavern serves an a la carte menu and welcomes guests on a walk-in basis.
Our menu pricing is inclusive of all costs associated with food, beverage, and hospitality. Tips are neither required nor expected.

Gramercy Tavern was absolutely wonderful! The tasting menu was divine, as well as the incredible service. They are extremely accommodating for allergies as well. The atmosphere was beautiful. We read about the chef In Cooking Light and we were travelling to New York so we booked the table as soon as we could. Well worth every penny. The portions were perfectly sized, the flavors were amazing. Ad definite MUST for anyone in the area. Would most definitely return on our next visit. Beautifully decorated for the Thanksgiving holiday as well. And can't say enough positive about the staff. One was more pleasurable than the next!
My partner and I had the lunch tasting menu (one regular and one vegetable.) . We both delighted in each of our dishes. I had a glass of wine and my partner had a half glass of champagne. I also had a healthy taste of a the drink paired with my dessert. The whole experience was well worth the price and lived up to the reviews I had read. Our server, Harrison was gracious, engaged, and accommodating. All the other servers who came to our table were also great and helpful.
We had an amazing experience at Gramercy Tavern. We showed up 15 minutes prior to our reservation time and were promptly seated despite the line of walk ins trying to get seats. Every single employee was smiling and courteous. The options were plentiful considering the prix fixe menu and all the food was delectable. Can’t wait to go back. Thanks GT!
The ambience was wonderful very quaint and cozy. We were all impressed as soon as we entered. Our server was knowledgeable and friendly. The food was amazing, all four of us did the tasting menu. The men did the seasonal one and us ladies decided to try the Vegetarian menu. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. I was very impressed as I am lactose intolerant and was told immediately that it was not going to be a problem, they certainly delivered, I loved every bite!
Food was very bland and my fish actually RAW in middle. While the server did offer to recook, by the time she offered everyone else was almost finished. Plus the dish was so bland, I didn’t really want any more:-). Portion sizes were also extremely odd with our desserts being larger than our appetizer and main combined. Trust me, no one needs 7 large cookies at the end of a big meal.
I️ have never had a bad experience at Gramercy and that record continues. The Hostess, wait staff, Sommelier and seasonal tasting menu with wine paring were all “on point”, as always. Bravo Danny Meyer for sustaining such a high level of quality food and service for so many years. I️ will continue to return, and recommend it to friends/colleagues as one of NYC’s finest “foodie” establishments.
My girlfriend and I each had a tasting menu with the wine pairing. My vegetarian tasting menu was worth every penny. The chestnut pudding was novel, innovative, and truly remarkable. The wines were very special, and were expertly paired to enhance or compliment the flavors in each dish.
We went to Gramercy Tavern to celebrate our engagement. The staff was nothing but excellent and kept congratulating us the whole night. We sat in the dining room and had the three course meal. Everything we had was wonderful. It was a remarkable evening to end such a perfect day.
Great food definetly fit for foodies. The problem I had was that we were seated in the back room, which was large and "sterile". The bustling ombiance of the bar & second room was lost in the large back room. My advise is to try to sit in the bar area... which does not take reservations. Fantastic staff all around. Only fixed priced tasting menus. Extremely expensive.
Excellent service. I had originally reserved a table for 2 for my parents anniversary and was going to try to wait get seated in the Tavern. They were kind enough to turn a table for 2 into a table of 4 for us. Very grateful, and couldn’t be happier with the service!
This was yet another fabulous experience at my favorite restaurant. My sister and I enjoyed the seasonal toasting menu over lunch, with wine pairings. I've been to Gramercy Tavern for dinner several times in the dining room, as well as lunch in the tavern. This was my first experience having lunch in the dining room. It was every bit as elegant as dinner! Every dish was superb , from the fluke ceviche at the start, to the scrumptious fresh desert. I absolutely loved the silky smooth sable (fish dish), with a delightful creamy sauce perfectly seasoned. I also loved the duck breast with confit , which was so juicy, tender, and tasty as to not be believed. The Gramercy chefs know how to cook duck like nobody else. I also believe the tasting menus (and wine pairings) at Gramercy are a very good value. Upscale dining is not inexpensive, especially in New York. My wife and I frequent several 3 (and occasionally 4 star) restaurants in the city. They are all very, very good. But Gramercy Tavern sets the standard for quality, while maintaining reasonable prices.
A special note to those of you that really enjoy fine dining. The service at most upscale restaurants is very good, highly professional and consistent -- but not differentiating. However, Gramercy Tavern takes service to a whole new level. Our server was not only extremely charming, but also incredibly knowledgeable about both the food and wine. I've always found that the servers at Gramercy truly engage with you to make sure you are having a great time. Couple that with fabulous gourmet food, a warm, inviting setting and you what do get? Gramercy Tavern, my favorite restaurant in the world!
It really was a beautiful experience.
If I had to say something negative, I would probably say that the dining room is a little bit too noisy and confusing for such a high level place. The time between each course was also probably a little short (I couldn’t even finish some of my wine glasses!). On a side note, some portions could have been a little bigger.
But all in all, it was a wonderful dinner and really worth the price we paid for it. The staff was especially helpful and ready to share info about food and wine.
This restaurant has lasted the test of time; it's wait people are professional and friendly, and despite the no tipping policy, service has not diminished. There is a wide choice of food selections, either a la carte or fixed menus, including one that is vegetarian selections only. The cheese choices are superb, served with pear chutney, honey and figs. Although the prices are on the high side, the food is very high quality.
