Gramercy Tavern Ratings and Reviews
We had a reservation in the Dining Room, but with the noise level we might as well have eaten in the Tavern. The food was average, not on par with other highly rated restaurants in the city. Our service was the highlight of the evening. EVERYONE we encountered was excellent!
We celebrated my husbands birthday here, and let me say it was phenomenal! The holiday decorations were beautiful! The Sommelier was very helpful. Staff highly attentive. Food was delish and we were very pleased with everything we ordered. We sat in dining room and it was very cozy and warm, they really did great job on design. When I mentioned to waiter how beautiful the after dinner chocolates were, and how I know my children would love them, he brought a box of 4 for me to take home to them! The birthday cake was such a treat!
Gorgeous interior in a seasonal warm, historic sense.
We were seated by a fine gentleman. Lovely waitstaff took our 3 course orders.
Nevertheless, I found all the scattering servers kept their gaze downward.
Hard to catch someone’s eye. Our lead waitstaff also did not coordinate that we needed to be finished within an hour and 3/4. Sad that the restaurant manager came over with a celebratory birthday cake and glasses of champagne to mark our anniversary/birthday too late to enjoy.
Long gap after main course frustrating. Cheese plate for dessert my favorite of all three courses. Food wasn’t as stellar as I’d expect. Ladies room had overflowing basket of dirty towels all over the floor. A Saturday night.
Fantastic experience from the moment we walked in until the final sip of coffee after dessert.
The head chef, Michael, came over to us multiple times with little tasters and charming conversation while we were waiting for our table.
Top shelf in every possible way.
We recently dined here for a birthday lunch. We all opted for the vegetable tasting menu which I strongly recommend. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly and the service was exceptional. The dining room was a nice contrast from the busy and crowded streets that NYC sees this time of year. We also had a toddler with us who patiently sat through a 2.5 hour lunch and received a lot of attention from staff (hence the kid-friendly rating). We made our lunch reservation a few weeks ahead of time and had several options for times. All in all, it was a great experience!
After wanting to try this Danny Meyer restaurant for a very long time, my husband and I made a reservation this past Thursday. It was everything I had heard about and more. The food was exquisite, the wait staff superb, and the ambience perfect. We will be back for sure. Highly recommend for a special meal.
Every year I meet up with my very favorite friends for a pre Christmas dinner. At first I thought we were being taken to the least attractive place in the restaurant but it was the perfect spot for us to see everything yet have the ability to talk. The tables were spaced with enough room that we weren't sharing our conversation with anyone else. Our waiter was wonderfully professional, attentive enough and helpful. The restaurant was full of festive holiday decorations and good cheer! We had a wonderful evening.
