What Insiders Are Saying
Gramercy Tavern is an incredible restaurant. But you already know that. The bar is the move you want to make here, and you want to make it often.
Great food—“the Daily Prix Fix” — fab sea bass
What an exquisite meal - food and service included.
Had dined here multiple times before and remembered it as outstanding every time. Something was just a bit off this time when it comes to the food. Pasta app was cold, tartare was very unspectacular, fish main was tough. Then again, desserts, service and ambiance were outstanding, just like previous times. My only point is that at this price point, everything should be perfect every time. Won’t give up on it, though, and will be back.
Excellent ambience, beautiful flowers. Somewhat disappointed in the pork schnitzel, but the celery root soup, tagliatelle bolognese, and all four desserts were excellent. Server was charming but nonchalant (almost caused us to miss our train).
Long wait for service might have influenced slightly negative feeling
Waiter tried hard to keep us from speaking to sommelier!
He wanted to choose the wine !
Eventually we persuaded him
She was very good
I found the “cabbage” flavors too strong
Celery soup +/-
Enjoyed striped bass
Not up to what we expected
Previous after dinner hamburger at the bar was spectacular
This place is exceptional!! Excellent service and amazing food. We did the three course tasing. For an appetizer I had the Ruby shrimp with Polenta. The second course was the roasted chicken with cauliflower. For dessert I had the apple upside down cake. AMAZING!!!!
our server was very nice and pleasant, i like that the tip is included . our food was delicious . my wine pour was a little small . over all we are very happy we went to gramercy tavern . next time we will try the lounge instead of the fixed menu
AMAZING EXPERIENCE FULL STOP. Everything about it from the moment we walked in till the moment we got in the cab was just utterly exceptional. Food was absolutely impeccable, drinks were amazing. Unforgettable experience
Delicious lunch for our last day in NY. Real old school - service impeccable, food delicious.
This was by far the worst food I’ve ever tasted in my entire life!!! Their astronomically overpriced pre-fix menu is an insult to the word food itself!!! The taste of their beet salad was so horrible, no human being would dare to eat that!!! Their kitchen chief should only be allowed to prepare food for pigs, but even they most likely wouldn’t eat that!!! $556.00 for horribly tasted pre-fix dinner for 3 people( including 3 glasses of cheap red wine, $18 per glass), no napkins, no salt or pepper on the table & none was offered upon arrival of each dish!!!
On the top of everything, they tried to add additional $35.00 for something we’ve never ordered!!!
I wouldn’t recommend this joint to my worst enemy! No one in the right mind should voluntarily experience such food nightmare!!!
This was our first visit to Gramercy Tavern. We had lunch in the Dining Room and both ordered the Seasonal Tasting Menu and drinks (the Duck Hunter and a nonalcoholic Pinor Noir). In January 2018, the Seasonal Tasting Meny consisted of marinated hamachi (1), smoked arctic char (2), squid ink spaccatelle (3), duck breast (4), a palate cleanser (apple sorbet, not listed on the menu), and a vanilla yogurt mousse (5) . We were also served two types of "bites" (or pralines) and bread + butter. Everything was divine: We came here for a special occasion and were truly amazed by the outstanding food - well worth the money! It was a unique and impressive food experience like no other I have ever had. The service was perfectly timed and the waitstaff was great at describing how the different dishes had been made. I can honestly say it was some of the best food I have ever sampled. My personal favorite was the smoked arctic char (easily the best fish dish I have ever had), while my partner preferred the duck breast. We will certainly be back.
Very good food but overpriced.
Elegant, but not stuffy. Was there for an intimate 60th birthday and was treated exceptionally well.
Incredible meal. Incredibly expensive.
I told the server to give me whatever he’d like and the meal was perfection. Amazing!!.
Went there for lunch. Menu a la carte as well as a chef’s tasting set menu (this one requires 2 hours). Authentic food with a twist, outstanding service, nice ambiance. Not a bad choice of wines.
One of the best meals I’ve ever had.
Impeccable service is the norm with friendly and accommodating staff that are knowledgeable and always looking for a way to ensure you enjoy your experience.
Tasting menu. Wine pairing. No need to make any decisions. Fantastic.
Always Wonderful experience. We love it. Food and staff excel
Very good service, attentive and good recommendations. We did the seasonal and our favorites were the arctic char and the duck.
Some of the best service I've ever received in a restaurant. The smell of the wood burning grill when you walk in is such a comfort -- and certainly where culinary masterpieces are made. The cocktails, extensive wine list and artfully prepared food are definitely worth waiting for.
A perfect place for Sunday lunch. We were so relaxed that we didn’t want to leave. GT does not disappoint. Service was outstanding.. food was even better. The scallops were incredible as was the carrot entree and the baklava ice cream. We can not wait to go back
I found Gramercy Tavern a very upbeat and lively venue. Full a very young people causal, full of energy with a very good bar scene.
Service was very good, my reservation was handled professionaly, even classy on a very busy night.
Well, from the ambience of the Tavern room and bar you could anticipat that maybe this is not a very serious food venue and you would be very wrong.
This is a serious restaurant with excellent and plainly delicious food. House wine parring was very good, the whole meal was a gratifying experience.
Expensive but well worth it and i will come back.
Everything was amazing!
Favorite restaurant in NYC. We are always impressed with the tasting menu- both seasonal and vegetarian- and accompanying wine tasting. Added benefit: you can always hear the other people at your table.
Best service in New York by a mile. Always excellent food. Great ambiance. Consistently one of the best restaurants in New York.
Service was below par and food not as creative as in the past.
Excellent food, service and ambience. A five star experience!!
My son and I ordered the Seasonal Tasting Menu and the Vegetarian Tasting Menu and added the Wine Pairings for a celebratory lunch. We were VERY impressed with both the food and wines, the service was friendly and EXCELLENT, especially the knowledge we received regarding the the wines. Food portion size was perfect, wine pourings generous and flavors stellar. All aspects of the experience and welcoming atmosphere from the hostess stand, coat check to the wintery decor and service worthy of the Michelin star. A very memorable meal and I would highly recommend!
GT is a lovely space and I greatly appreciate the fact that it is now a non-tipping establishment.
Considering the fact that GT boasts about having a celebrity chef, the food does not excite and and prices are far from gentle.
Brace yourself before looking at the cocktail and wine list.
A $22 martini is pretty standard these days, but the wine prices are outrageous.
We celebrated our anniversary at Gramercy and could not have found a better location to do so. The menu was diverse and exquisite. The service was exemplary and we were treated to a few special complimentary treats due to our celebration. A memorable night made more memorable.
The food is not what it used to be. And unbeknownst to me, I was sitting in a section that only allowed a 3 course or tasting menu vs a la carte. The price was way too much for what we got and the quality.
Amazing food and good vibe. Service can be bit spotty
Comfortable, lovely design with ambiance that is heightened/busy, but you can still hold conversations. The service was wonderful with very knowledgeable staff for both food and drink. Leisurely evening--never felt rushed. Excellent and delicious!
Dinner was good, not great. we expected the bill to be what it was. It was about 20 % more than I would expect at a similar place at home. Our server was excellent. We did the tasting menu pared with wines. Some of the wines were sub par, i’m convinced one was corked. The somm did not agree with me and generously offered us a special bonus wine which curiously the diners next to us left unfinished for the staff. This is a large place with much hustle and bustle. Tables are close together so there are no private conversations. Our immediate neighbor couple were making out during most of the meal. That we did not bargain for😀
Beautiful food and service, as always. Loved sitting in the MDR. Thanks for taking good care of us!
Lunch on a Tuesday post-holidays was quiet. We had exceptional service and food was delicious, as was the special cocktail of rum and cranberry. Pricey, but gratuity is included.
Damn, this was amazing, I would seriously go back for another special occasion and then another. Their fish was amazing, the lamb was good and the drinks were great. Maybe cut back on the sugar with the desserts - 5/5 and hands down my favorite restaurant in the city.
Extremely expensive for the quality of cuisine. Was sold “sea bass” that clearly wasn’t. Service was excellent though.
