Grafton Street Pub and Grill Ratings and Reviews
First visit to Grafton but we are big fans of Hourly Oyster and Russell House Tavern. Food was very good but service was fair...waitress friendly and tried her best! Service was extremely slow and did not seem well versed with menu and struggled to answer questions. She could not tell us where the oysters where from but after a few questions we were able to look up on iphone and they were delicious! We had similar response when asking about menu items...will try again.
I've loved this restaurant for a long time. The menu changes seasonally to capture fresh ingredients, and the food is always delicious! The papardelle bolognese was incredible and the goat cheese bruschetta was a great start to the meal - fried goat cheese with fresh tomatoes and toasted bread - what more could you ask for?? The only complaint is how loud the restaurant is, which makes it difficult to have a conversation or any type of romantic ambiance.
We chose the Grafton Street Pub because of previous reviews and proximity to our hotel. We loved it. Made a reservation and arrived on time and our table was ready within 3 minutes. The service was excellent and we enjoyed our beverages, the meal and the lively but not raucous atmosphere.
This place is usually pretty good; this visit wasn't the best one we've had. I ordered the Irish breakfast with fried eggs; they were so undercooked even the whites were still runny which I just find repulsive. The sausages were pretty tough, like they'd been sitting out a while. The beans were great though! They offered my daughter chocolate chips for her pancakes to which she agreed, but there were so many chocolate chips and the pancakes themselves were a but undercooked, so that the whole pile turned in to a bit of a soggy mess. I"m starting to feel like going to a popular area for brunch on a Sunday is like going to basically any restaurant on Valentine's Day...its just not going to provide the best experience. Too hurried, too busy, too many items that need to be prepped in advance and left sitting; too too too. Oh well.
Went for a 1PM business brunch. We were assigned a table with stools and we requested a regular table. The waiter was very pleasant and went to inquire. The answer was that the tables we could see had reservations. Yet all throughout our meal we saw the one table open. Halfway through the meal there were several open tables and we were not offered to move.
We were very disappointed with our server (presumably Melvin G, the name on the receipt) - tall, thin, dark hair, accent. He tried to upsell us on absolutely everything - every drink, most menu items. He argued with my friend that she should get wine, not a beer (when a beer was all she wanted).
When we tried to pay our bill, he didn’t follow the directions. He charged more on each of our credit cards than we wanted despite clear instructions. We asked him to give us some of the cash back that we had put in with our cards since he didn’t do the transactions right. He made us late for the show we were going to, because the bill wasn’t handled quickly...
Very disappointing. I haven’t had a server quite this bad in years... Maybe ever.
We came here on two successive New Year's Eves and had a great time both times. The service was excellent and the setting cozy and joyful. The entrees were excellent, though I have to admit that the clam chowder was a bit ordinary (but not terrible). Very good wine list.
The food was okay. My friend's was bettter, from what I gather, than mine. 'Seems like much of my plate was consumed by french fries (fish and chips). The fish was good, but the batter was soft (not crisp). 'Not sure why. The creme brulee was excellent. I definitely recommend that.
The calamari was fine, but the pizza was not cooked well enough (the cheese melted but had congealed into a pale white sheet of plasticity) and the dough did not seem fresh (it had a chewy toughness to it) and we never got a beet salad we ordered (but we were not charged, so I'm guessing the waiter never heard the request)
We came for dinner before an A.R.T show (10% off with ticket), and everything was delicious. Everything was reasonably priced, so we ended up splurging a bit and getting drinks, dinner and dessert. Food was wonderful, fresh, and prompt (the scallops were perfect!). Drinks were good and the dessert (though a tad small for the price) was also wonderful.
Would definitely recommend.
Honored our reservation! Our table was cozy! Great waitress!Attentive but not clingy!
I had scallops over risotto with spinach and I really enjoyed it! Very fresh! My guest had pork chop dinner and loved it! Pinot Grigio very good and coffee hot and rich!
It was close to Sanders Theater so we could park and walk around Harvard Square! Perfect!
The scallops were delicious - best I’ve had in a long time! Unexpected delight - have to give 5 stars for this. The mussels appetizer was also delicious. The Caesar Salad was pretty good. Portions are fairly generous. Service was speedy, wait staff polite, “no frills” service style. We had a corner window table that I would request if/when we go back - you should too. Overall, very pleasant dining.
I have been to a few other restaurants owned by this group and to Grafton Street a few times, but I have to say I was quite disappointed this time around. I ordered calamari, which was quite greasy. For dinner I had a burger which I ordered medium rare but was delivered so rare I was afraid to eat it. Our waitress graciously asked the kitchen to cook me another burger, which was delivered well, and tasted good, but the timing was off and overall the experience suffered. Our cocktails were great and service and ambiance were fine as well, was just a bit let down by the food, especially at that price.
We had to ask twice to be moved to a suitable table; despite having had reservations, we were given rather awful tables at first. Finally, were given a nice, quiet table in a little alcove. However, the food was really good (Thanksgiving menu), the service cheerful, competent, and responsive, and we were, overall, extremely happy with our choice for this special occasion. A bit better than casual atmosphere but not a “fine dining” room either. We will return, I think, often.
Always a pleasure! We get the table we request and the service is always friendly without being intrusive. Food is fresh and modifications allowed with charge. Celebrated being with our sons and loved every minute! Been here four times and all were equally as enjoyable.
