The company is now closed permanently but they still allowed people to make reservations through Open Table for a week or longer knowing they were not open during renovations. I made a reservation and showed up not knowing the restaurant was closed during that time. No one from the the restaurant contacted anyone that had made reservations during this time to cancel their reservation. Very poor business so good thing they closed their doors!
They were not open although taking reservations....this messed up my open table account because I could not cancel the reservation unless I called the restaurant and there was no one there to answer the phone! It was crazy that Open Table was not allowing me to book another reservation during this time!!!!
This restaurant is closed down. I made a reservation on open table but open table must not have known they were closed. It should be removed from the website.
Had reservations Monday night (for 12) that were canceled Sunday night for my sales team.
Was told the restaurant was having work done on HVAC system and should be back open on Thursday. I thought....perfect! It’s my Anniversary on Thursday so I made reservations on Open table . Got a call at 12:30 on Thursday canceling them bc “the renovations were not done”. Made reservations (and got a babysitter) again for Friday. Never received a call canceling but showed up to find an empty restaurant. Messaged on FB to try to figure out what happened. Read the message but never responded. TERRIBLE way to do business and now I have doubts if they will ever open. Save yourself the disappointment and go to another fabulous RVA restaurant.
Graffiato was closed for renovations during our reservations. How was I able to make reservations with it being closed?! What a waste of time.
When we arrived at Graffiato for our 6:45 reservation on 5/27 it was closed. While we made the reservation through Open Table, we had also been to the website. How can you close a restaurant and still take reservations? Or not leave an update on your website?
The cocktails were horrible and the food was just decent. Not that amazing...even though it’s a DC chain, definitely not the same...
We have eaten at this restaurant on numerous occasions, however due to HVAC issues we had to leave (a bit too warm this past Sunday). We will be back because we like the food and the atmosphere.
So good! We shared a number of small plates and everything was delicious! Highly recommend for gatherings.
Happened to show up on Mother's Day on a hot May evening, and the air conditioning was out. I still rated the ambiance "good," because imagining the experience in normal conditions, I think "good" is what it would have been. The Meat and Cheese Plate was alright - not sure if it was worth it. But the Beets appetizer and the Carbonara were so good. In terms of authentic Italian cooking, the Carbonara tasted a lot like a dish that I had in actual Italy. The layered tiramisu was pretty good - except, for some reason, the very bottom layer tasted like it had been doused with Lysol or something. It was chemical-tasting and very very bitter. This was only a problem in mine though, because I tried my mom's and sister's and theirs were fine. Our waiter was nice, but we were there for a long time, it wasn't busy at all, and I never got a refill on my soda.
We were super excited to get a last minute reservation on a Saturday night (and the weekend of VCU gradutation!). When we arrived, we found out why - their AC was not working. This on the hottest day of the Spring season! But, we decided to stay. They had fans running and it was tolerable. And of course, not their fault, just bad luck! The food was great and service spot on. Enjoyed it very much and will definitely go back!
Air conditioning out. 90 degrees outside. No notice from the restaurant.
Excellent! High quality service and food in a fun, festive atmosphere! Love Graffiato.
Loved the food--creative and fresh. Cocktails creative and we had some difficulty selecting a rye--out of stock, pricing, server knowledge.
We'd go back and recommend to those who like trying new and different food combos and unusual and handcrafted cocktails.
Went for my husband's birthday celebration because he loves Italian food. When we arrived I shared with them that we had reservations and that we
were celebrating my husband's birthday. No acknowledgement to my husband for his birthday I understand that they may not sing songs which my husband didn't want that attention anyway but some type of an acknowledgement would have been nice and appreciated. Food was okay but I think that they should be more sensitive toward people celebrating special occasions. Maybe do something as simple as if the person orders desert have a candle to put on the desert.
Great meal at Graffiato. Loved the pizza and spaghetti and meatballs. Fun vibe also.
My husband and I visited Graffiato before theater the other night. We had a reservation and when the server was taking us to our table I asked if we could have one of the two empty booths and she said they were for tables of four diners. While we ate I noticed that both booths were seated with two people each. This was disappointing since we had requested one and were told we couldn't have one because of our party size. Overall I was otherwise disappointed with my dining experience and will not be recommending Graffiato to others.
It has a great atmosphere and a very attentive staff. The hostess was prompt, professional and welcoming. The bar staff was knowledgeable and friendly. And the waitress was courteous, prompt and accurate. The beer and wine selections were both good.
We had a group of 8 and had no trouble getting a reservation on a Sunday night. The food selection has enough choices that everyone in the group was satisfied, even our resident vegetarian.
I will definitely eat here again when I'm in town.
The food was fantastic as it always is. One of our favorites
Excellent service and food. Their own version of a Moscow Mule is delicious.
modern/ industrial interior with lots of visual interest . Room between tables so you weren't too close. Italian tapas options. Traditional presented in new ways.
Took my girlfriend here for date night. Neither of us had been before. We were immediately greeted by the helpful host team. Started with a happy hour drink at the bar then the host was ready to show us to our table without hesitation, didn’t even need to remind them of our name. It was a quiet Tuesday night but the bar was busy. We don’t mind the noise. Everything is served family style and comes out of the kitchen as soon as it’s ready. We had the Caesar salad (cream cheese croutons were amazing!!! And the egg was a great touch) cheese plate, honey was amazing and the cheese portions were great. The pork belly, it was delicious however we would have preferred thinner slices, the fat is overwhelming for our taste. The pork gnocchi was outstating, at this point we were full and had the rest boxed up (the waitress boxed the food for us which I love) and finally we had the tiramisu also a great portion. It was a great date spot and I would recommend. Also, aside from the bar, we shared 3 more drinks at the table. And I was pleasantly surprised with the tab!
Great pizzas and small plates. Charred octupus is outstanding. Mushroom ravioli is amazing. Pasta dishes are small in size. Also great cocktails.
All together the experience was great with good food and happy service. Unfortunately, it was the first hot day outside and there was no Airconditioning on so the temperature inside was a little uncomfortable.
Waiter did not return often to our table to check on our drinks......
We were leery due to recent staff changes, but found the food to still be great. The beet dish and two pasta dishes were very good. The service was very good. The noise level was better because there were fewer people than usual and we were upstairs.
Loud, energetic atmosphere. Great for people watching. Good food, but all those small plates add up. Not a great value in the end.
Great Octopus. Pizza was awesome. Gnocchi was tasty. Service was excellent.
I was unpleasantly surprised at the small portion size of my pasta entree. I would have ordered much different had I know I would only receive 5 pieces of pasta for my main entree
We had a reservation and initially we were seated in the upstairs section, even though there were plenty of open tables downstairs (which is a much nicer setting). However, the hostess was very accommodating when we asked to be reseated, and the ambiance was great. Great happy hour deals on drinks. The food was delicious.
Had a great time. Food was amazing. More of a tapas style serving. Well prepared!
Glad we went and overall it was nice but probably will not go back because the food does not stack up against some of the other Richmond restaurants.
Our whole experience at Graffiato was generally unimpressive. The drinks were creative and our waiter was kind, but the seating was awkward (small table for multiple shared plates). We ordered pasta dishes and assorted appetizers and both were over-salted. More specifically, the bone marrow dish, while interestingly flavored, was overwhelmed by the strong garlic bread. I really wouldn’t recommend this restaurant.
Great service, yummy food, and fun atmosphere. We enjoyed cocktails, the cheese platter octopus, mushroom ravioli & the agnolotti pasta. Will definitely return on our next visit to Richmond.
The food was good, but the portions were very small and overpriced. The atmosphere was much more like a bar than a restaurant.
Small plate type restaurant, good food, noisy atmosphere.
Wonderful small plates spot in Jackson Ward! Perfectly located to grab a drink at Quirk Hotel or The Jefferson before or after dinner!
Nice small plate format. Pastas are very good and the “small plates” are less so. Was a little surprised to learn they don’t serve bread. Would be happy to pay for it. Italian type dishes beg for this accompaniment. Cocktails were well done but pricey. Was able to find street parking fairly easily.
Great servers and excellent food choices
