My second time at Gradisca and I expect to return. The tortellini is made right in front of you and it is simply the best. This night I tried the striped bass special. The fish was amazingly fresh and the portion was generous. The wine list offers many selections from all regions of Italy.
The cavatelli was phenomenal. The older woman making pasta up front was one of the best parts. We all loved the ambiance and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. Highly recommend.
Amazing food and service, as always!
This was our first visit to Gradisca. We made an early dinner reservation on Saturday as part of my birthday celebration. The food, while very over-priced, was acceptable. However, the techno music was much too loud and sounded like tinny noise played through a cheap sound system. We asked several times for the music to be turned off or turned down but the volume kept creeping up. Since only one other table was occupied, we thought this a reasonable request. Combined with the high-pitched screams of a child at the other table in the restaurant, our dining experience was unpleasant and we were out of there in less than an hour. We let the wait staff know that it wasn't a great experience, but they shrugged it off saying we should come during the week when the music was different. There are too many restaurants in New York that we already know are welcoming and concerned with our experience for us to bother giving Gradisca another try.
We have been going here for a few years now and Gradisca is still our favorite Italian restaurant in the city. The service is always great, the food exceptional and the wine list is great as well. We've tried many things there and so far have not had a bad choice. At this visit we tried the creme brûlée appetizer option for the first time and it was simply delicious!!!!
Absolutely delicious ... fresh, handmade pasta as good as any anywhere. I had a pork loin cooked perfectly. This place is a neighborhood gem.
What a great restaurant. Great ambiance with an excellent and friendly staff.
Always wonderful. Never miss a visit to Gradisca when in NYC. All entrees are great.
Awesome experience which started as soon as we opened the door and we were immediately greeted. Service was impeccable, food exceptional, and a special dessert was created to celebrate my friend's birthday. We even saw Katerina, straight from Italy, handmaking tortellini - what an added treat
There are really no negatives here. Food, wine, staff, you name it's all very good at Gradisca. The coolest thing is the sweetest, little lady stationed in the front dining room. You get to see her make the greatest homemade tortellini. I would definitely go back.
Gradisca has the most autentic italian food in NYC!
The meat tortellini is amazing whether in cream sauce or broth. Had the chocolate gelato dessert in wine. I wanted to like the cup!
Always an excellent choice and never disappoints! The authentic Italian cuisine along with the variety of menu options make Gradisca a terrific choice for any night of the week.
Love this place. One of our steady spots to go for easy dining.
Went here for Valentine’s Day. We’ve been here before (my girlfriend loves the Carbonara). The place is firmly lit as the ambience is really nice. Our waiter, on the other hand, sucked. She took our order with ease, but we didn’t get our first entree until an hour later, and never asked how we’re were doing or explained what the hold up was. She stopped by the table next to us twice to check on them as we sat there still waiting patiently. Mind you, the table next to us arrived later than us, ate their appetizer and entrees and order dessert before we even got our first dish. When we asked where our food was she didn’t even know we didn’t receive it. That’s not an good, attentive waiter. Get it together. Food is amazing, and we usually get epic service but not this time. The other workers were on point though. Water was filled before I could even finish a glass. Plates were removed super fast. Good job to the other workers!
Delicious pasta. Wonderful ambiance. Didn't feel rushed at all. Perfect for a date night.
We used to come here quite often but haven't been here in quite a while. We ate here last week and remembered why we love it so much. The pasta is heavenly! We had the homemade gnocchi and pappardelle as well as the carbonara. We had a wonderful time and the service was impeccable as always. The only downside is that it is not inexpensive but in Manhattan nothing is! I would highly recommend!
Love this place especially on nights when Grandma is making pasta in the alcove! Also the bar is an underrated neighborhood gem for a predinner martini.
Great handmade pasta dishes ! Don’t miss the grandma making the fresh pasta when you walk in.
Cozy morern Italian cuisine spot. Delicious food and desert. Intimate atmosphere.
Overall the food was good but the restaurant needs to redo its menu so it could be honest to the customer. There is an option of a half order of pasta on the menu (no restrictions). I couldn't order the pasta with wild boar sauce except as a full order. When I got it it was so small I thought it was a half order but was full price. I ordered fish with capers, lemon, oil and tomatoes and it came in a tomato sauce. When I said I wouldn't have ordered it if it said tomato sauce I was told but it did say tomatoes. When I asked if the flourless chocolate cake was really a molten lava cake (which I hate) I was told it wasn't. Bu tit was and it went back.
How can a restaurant miss inform its customer at every course!
Gradisca has become my family's go-to place for the past couple of years. Whenever my parents visit, we would have our last meal at Gradisca before they leave. We love their food, extensive wine list, bears and the Brooklynesque ambiance in the heart of Union Square. The place is very clean, most of the staff seem to be from Italy and they have great knowledge about their menu. It is also surprisingly not so loud at all considering it is located in Union Square where there's a ton of foot traffic (although the place is usually full even on weekdays). I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a classy and quality Italian restaurant.
It was a very enjoyable experience starting with the gracious hostess . The food was fantastic from start to finish . The waiter was very attentive . The atmosphere was very friendly and warm.
Vastly overpriced for just acceptable food. Would not recommend.
Have been here many times with my daughter always great but last night it was exceptional. Also brought my son and family and everyone agreed a memorable evening
The fresh pasta’s are worth the trip. Great ambiance of historical landmark brownstone; cozy and hip. Bartender very professional, waitress and all staff extremely nice , attentive but not overbearing.
Severely understaffed and unorganized. We waited 45 minutes for our drinks!!! Was a complete mess and I would never return to this place again.
The staff is welcoming and friendly and the food is fresh and amazing
First time early for our reservation, but the host said we could eat at the bar. The service at the bar was good, bartender friendly and attentive. Very loud around the bar in addition to the band playing in the back. However, the food was above average. The pastas were el dente and very tasteful.
Food was good albeit from an abbreviated menu. Service was friendly, attentive without hovering. As someone else has written, backroom can get loud, but it's a cozier space than the front room. We will definitely return.
Amazing homemade pasta. Among the best I've ever had
Met here with my wife, son and fiancé to have dinner and talk. Food was very good, waiter was great, service was great, ambiance was also very nice. Noise level in the back room was off the chart LOUD. The loudest I've ever experienced. Couldn't talk to other than the person sitting next to me.
If I go back I'll try and sit in the front room!
We love Gradisca’s fresh pasta and ambience. Everything on the menus is excellent. Its small and quaint. Its our favorite Italian in NYC.
This is the second time we have eaten at Gradisca and we enjoyed it immensely both times. The food is well prepared and delicious, accommodated vegetarians in our group, the wine was great, the service prompt and friendly, and the gelato is unparalleled!
The place for northern Italian. Save room for dessert.
Consistently excellent Italian food made with love. Fast becoming one of my favorites. Bring your appetite.
Great hand made pasta! Recommend for pre theater dinner when you plan to go Joyce Theater!
We love Gradisca. Have eaten there many times over the last several years and are never disappointed. Wonderful fresh Italian dishes exquisitely prepared. I recommend it highly.
