We had a post valentines dinner.
Perfect place for a romantic Valentine’s Day dinner. The special menu had several choices and was delicious. The service was excellent as usual. Great special occasion restaurant.
The food was exceptional. We went there for Valentine’s Day. The crab salad had avocado, pineapple, toasted coconut on a bed of cucumbers. Scallops were amazing. 3 desserts! There was a chocolate meringue cookie with strawberries that was heavenly. Absolutely delicious all around!
Ambience was beautiful and elegant.
We celebrated valentines day with another couple. We all are over the top about our experience. I had teh crab salad followed with a steak. The crab was fantastic and the steak was perfect at medium rare. Incredibly tender with a delicious sauce. Portions were perfect. We enjoyed a trio of dessert tastes that were also excellent. I have been here several times and will dine at Gracie's again.
Dined here for Valentine’s Day. Food was delicious, and they accommodated a very sensitive gluten allergy, which is always a great find! Nice ambiance - could have been improved if live piano player/singer (it was Vday after all). Service was not up to expected level - simple things like not having the appropriate utensils. Waiter was awkward. Overall, we still enjoyed the food. Think there is better overall experience to be had in Portland for the price.
The prix fixe Valentine's Day dinner was excellent, a well-selected menu, and every course was deliciously prepared and presented. Our server, David, was attentive without being intrusive, and has a delightful sense of humor. A result of our experience was deciding, during dinner, that we're going to plan a staycation at Hotel Deluxe sometime soon and re-do our romantic evening at Gracie's.
We have visited Gracies many times. Most recently I took my wife and mother-in-law to celebrate Valentines. The server was the worst experience we have ever had at Gracies.
Server's initial approach was - let's hurry up, I've got too many things going on. While she seemed to regain professional composure; she would disappear for long stretches, forget to bring coffee - multiple times; returned the check after an unbelievable wait without my credit card or parking ticket. Then she returned my credit card then took it away when I pointed out that my parking ticket was missing. While we will return to Gracies, I will request another server as her behavior was grossly unacceptable.
We had a wonderful dining experience. The wood was great, the service was excellent and the atmosphere was quite. Delightful!
Service was impeccable from arrival to departure. Every employee exhibited care for us as customer and pride of representing Gracie’s as restaurant.
Cocktails were innovative and creative.
We ordered lobster pot-pie and mushroom risotto with lobster. To die for!
Unfortunately no room for desert, for which we will have to come back for.
Thank you for having us. You will see us again soon.
It had been years since our last visit to Gracie's and we were delighted to find the entire experience even better than remembered. It is a premier dining spot in Portland for relaxed dining and quiet conversation. The menu selection is stunning. Easily the best Portland dining experience we have had in Portland in a long time. The Driftwood Bar a few feet away appears to be a must-visit=soon jewel. They have assembled a professional team that pays attention to details; something I find uncommon in today's fast-paced world.
I love this beautiful place. Many good memories from the old days before it changed management. Unfortunately the chicken o my Cobb salad was a little over cooked and the hamburger tasted of fish. Might go back, try something else
Our grandchildren love to eat at Gracie’s. It is such an elegant dining room, and the breakfast menu is great! It makes every visit feel like a special occasion.
As always, everything was wonderful. Food, service, ambience - love Gracie's!
Can't say enough about how good this place is. Wonderful food, the best service, (Terry), and a very charming Maricela, the server's assistant, who is always on top of things and helps out whenever needed, including refills on coffee, etc.
The hostesses are pleasant, welcoming, and efficient, making the visit great in every way.
will continue to return every week for brunch, and lunch on occasion.
Nice restaurant, good atmosphere, but the food was unimpressive. I had the salmon Benedict and my husband had the steak Benedict. Both were just ok, and we both agreed would be much better with greater dimension of flavors. It all tasted quite flat and generic.
This is the second time I've driven into Portland from the suburbs for a more elegant experience than I can get close to home. It is worth the drive! The restaurant is lovely and everyone's food was excellent.
The food never disappoints at Gracie's! However, this time my group did not receive the normal first class service. It was New Year's Day and my expectations were high.
Love brunch at Gracie’s. It has become a tradition
It’s my favorite place to have delicious food and coffee. I need to go there at least once a month. Love their German pancake, corned beef hash, huevos rancheros and omelette!
Celebrated wedding anniversary had nice evening. Service awesome!
Our experience was dreadful and very expensive. It took forever for food to arrive and if you like tough prime rib on top of glue-like mashed potatoes this is the place for you. Even the ice cream sundae was partially melted on arrival. The restaurant is in a stunning and elegant setting and it’s tragic the restaurant fails to deliver.
We had Thanksgiving dinner at Gracie's and enjoyed everything. We came back for Christmas dinner and we all had the rack of lamb except one of us had the prime rib. We all were disappointed with the rack of lamb. It wasn't cooked long enough. The meat was bloody and even looked raw in the center and had a huge amount of fat on it. . I had it boxed up to go. The next day I microwaved it for 2 min and it was delicious. The meat browned and the fat shrunk down to nearly othing. If it had been cooked a little longer at the Restaraunt it would have been perfect.
Also the weather was bad , it was snowing. I called to see about cancelling our reservations and was told that we would still be charged for cancelling. We we're able to make it in but I don't think it's fair to charge people for cancellation no due to uncontrollable circumstances like a snow storm.
Well probably give Gracie's another chance and come back but if if our next experience is like the one we had for Christmas that will be the last time .
We go out for dinner on Christmas Eve, and Gracie's got the nod this year. We have stayed at Hotel Deluxe over the years, even when it was the Mallory Hotel. But Gracie's was there then and it has always been outstanding. We now live in Portland, so staying there would be a rare thing for us. At any rate, the prix fix meals were outstanding, from appetizer choices, through the selection of entrees, to dessert. What a wonderful evening!
Very nice special menu for Christmas Eve; lovely atmosphere; good service
I had their Christmas Eve dinner which was very expensive ($75) . The duck was recommended to me but I found it not the best. I should have ordered the prime rib. The pumpkin soup was excellent and the dessert was great. The ambiance was nice and there was piano music (player piano).
We have been coming here for at least 20 years and love the setting of Gracie's! The food is great and it's not crazy like most breakfast places in Portland. We love it!
we went there for the special german pancake and it was not up to my expectations. everything else was excellent
Great restaurant with great food. Portion size was perfect, I even had room for desert. My only complaint was the time I had to wait to pay after finishing my meal. It took about 30 minuets to get the check and they were not busy. But the food was great and I will go there again.
In five years of patronage - the past Sunday brunch experience was disappointing - service was embarrassing as I was entertaining guests
Wonderful Sunday brunch and one of the few in town that accepts reservations.
