Gracie's Ratings and Reviews
Absolutely amazing place and great service. Prime was spot on, Dover Sole with vegetables also nice. 1/2 lobster tail was a bit rubbery but had good tasting. The bread putting with whiskey pecan sauce was very nice as was the Spanish Coffee. Brandy Alexander was just ok. Service and overall ambience was top notch!!
I have been to Gracie's many times over the years and usually very much enjoy it. This time was a bit off.... notably from a service and food value perspective. Not sure if the server had too many tables to attend to or just not on the game. Had the chopped salad with chicken, which I have to say the chicken was a more substantial portion than expected.... however, the salad itself was just so-so; nothing particularly interesting.
The ambience is fantastic and sexy, old school. Service staff is fantastic and the attentive, just don't look that great, a bit frumpy. The food was tragic, making an omelet should be simple and easy, but it was overcooked and the ingredients were far from superior or fresh. Steak and eggs seemed to be the winner combination. Couldn't really do that poorly, the steak was cooked great the eggs ....arg! The bread was not good and the soup was a 4 on a 1-10 scale. The coffee was decent and the cocktails were great! Wish the food was so much better. Please fix the kitchen.
This was our fourth visit to Gracie's. We absolutely love this place. It's a Portland institution with every ounce of 1920s charm as true to the time as any place we've seen. Moreover, the food has been 5 star every time we've been there. Highly recommended.
The place is beautiful! The food was above average and we all enjoyed our meals especially those who ordered prime rib. Service was extremely slow. There appeared to be one wait person and an assistant serving the entire dining room. Although she attempted to take care of us we were a party of eight so it was difficult for her to take care of our requests and serve the other 4-5 tables that were in the restaurant at the time. The lobby was beautiful it was fun to go there so we will consider going again.
The dining room is stunning and the food is very good. Unfortunately the service is very lacking. While they were happy to leave a detailed message about how they expected to bill our table of 6 (unasked), once we were seated no server showed up until I went to ask for one (at least 15 minutes after being seated). Then when he finally showed up, he was a bunch of attitude.
We were looking forward to our dinner at Gracie's to celebrate my husbands birthday with friends. We had been to Gracie's many times and always loved it. One of the things we liked best was that the extensive menu had something to please everyone. But the menu has changed and is very limited and a little odd. There are inexpensive options like a hamburger, fish & chips & pasta. Then a huge jump on price to steaks , a little stet dish, & prime rib. The selection was so limited we all ended up having the same thing--prime rib. While it was good it was nothing you couldnt get at a hundred other restaurants. Then adding insult to injury valet parking was only free for 2 hours, then the cost went up to &20.00. So eat fast or eat somewhere else.
They have a new menu and slightly higher prices but the quality of the food was really good in comparison to other times we have eaten there. Good service; two of us split a salad and he divided it up onto 2 plates without our asking. Delicious arugala salad. Other items that we chose were all very good.
Best German pancakes, comfy chairs, can have a conversation with table guests without screaming. Service was fast, delightful and not intrusive. I have also been for Afternoon Tea which I found delicious, calming, and a while the restaurant was full it was not noisy. Street parking bountiful if no Timbers game scheduled.
We absolutely loved Gracie's! The round booths were great for having a quiet conversation. The dimmed crystal chandeliers were a lovely touch. But most importantly the food was sensational! The service was top-notch! We live an hours drive from Gracie's and it was totally worth it! We will definitely be back!
Great place for Sunday Brunch! Our server Terry was very professional and helpful in ordering a vegetarian meal. The hostess is always very efficient.
Can't say enough about how pleasant Gracie's is for lunch and Brunch.
Love to recommend the place.
Thanks also to Brandon for adding to the wonderful experience.
This was our second visit. Both times we have been impressed. The menu recently changed. We like it before, but it was great this time. We had a party of 4 for my wife's birthday. Very much enjoyed this restaurant. My steak was perfect. Sides were great. We had several different deserts and I don't know which was the best.
My mom, sister and I have an annual "spa day" in downtown Portland that starts with brunch/lunch at Gracie's and then on to the spa for pampering. Gracie's is genteel and the staff makes us feel very special whenever we are there. The food is always excellent and the dining room is beautiful.
I was smitten with Gracie's the moment I walked into the restaurant from the beautiful hotel lobby. The ambience has an old Hollywood feel without being old-fashioned. The service was incredible and our server Jordan, was very engaging and helpful from the moment we walked in the door. The food was very well prepared and scrumptious and the drinks/wine selection were good. I would recommend this restaurant for any special occasion or date night. It is the perfect place to enjoy a great meal, quiet conversation and not feel like you are being rushed out the door for the next patron to take your seat.
This time we were celebrating my daughter's birthday. The only reason I gave only 4 stars for food this time was the French toast. The last time my daughter ordered it we loved the crunchy cereal on the outside of each piece. A nice contrast to the warm soft bananas. This time her French toast only had the cereal on one side and it was a little soggy. Still yummy, but we missed the contrast of the crunch with the soft. We will be going back again and again. The menu has something for everyone, and the flavor combinations are fantastic. Added bonus Brunch is served on Saturday and Sunday. Most difficult thing is picking just one dish per person, I highly recommend bringing people who will let you sample what they select, so you can try more than one item.
Our ladies lunch group of women have been doing this since the 1970's when the restaurant was the other name ha. Gracie's always will be our favorite. When gals move away and return they stay in the hotel and we come and dine for lunch.
Love the service personnel and the food of course. Best bloody Mary in town.
Thanks you for always being so helpful when making the arrangements.
Food was very good. The setting was in a large ballroom in a grand old hotel: high ceilings, fancy wall moldings, etc. But the place was empty-- totally empty. Almost eerie.
Our server was outstanding; informed us that the menu was being completely changed the next day. Maybe they're experimenting...?
