We went for Portland Dining month and appreciated that there were three choices for each course. A lot of restaurants only offer one entrée and cheap out on dessert. We wanted to try the Driftwood Lounge but it is small and was full. They did serve us in the lobby while we waited for our reservation, and the service was outstanding. When we moved into the restaurant, the decor is old Hollywood but not overly opulent. It's a smaller dining space, rather cozy, nice music playing. Wonderful wine list and cocktail menu. Every bite of our meal was delicious and some unique offerings. The wait staff was attentive, courteous, friendly, informative. Phenomenal experience all around.
Wonderful atmosphere and amazing food! Definitely would recommend this place to anyone.
This was our first visit to Gracies and our first experience with Portland Dining Month. The dishes were delectable! I had the beet salad and chanterelle ravioli and my husband had the gulf prawns and beef cheeks. Everything was fantastic from the service to the last bite. We will definitely return.
Went to Gracies for Portland Dining Month- 3 course dinner with several choices for starter, main and dessert. Each dish was creative, arranged beautifully, and served well. Paired with wine pour for each of the 3 that was well chose, all Northwest wines. Server was informed, had good suggestions and we were completely satisfied.
Came for portland dining month, great food, small portions, but satisfying and so tasty!
Great food and its decor is very beautiful. The service was really good. The way the tables are situated might not be everyone's cup of tea, but we liked it.
Our group of 8 went for Portland Dines Out and we were treated as honored guests. A wonderful dining experience.
We went for Portland dining months food and service were good only negative was the portions were incredibly small we ended up having to order a hamburger to go after
Gracie's is a hotel restaurant offering comfort food with great local ingredients. The decor is a mashup of comfort and elegance, great for a romantic date or a proper business dinner. The service is attentive but not overbearing. Make sure to save room for dessert. My recommendation is the White Chocolate Mousse. The chocolate espresso cake is good choice for those interested in a rich, dense and less sweet option.
Gracie's is, without a doubt, the best place for brunch in Portland.
The location was great, I was excited to go as my friends raved about the place after a big family birthday bash they had there a few months prior. That said it was an off night. Started with us getting sat 20 min past reservation time (we were in Driftwood next door but still annoying we were hungry). Then when we got sat the server we had was clearly not interested in having us as a table at all. I asked one question on the OR Dine menu they had as I have an allergy and after 20ish min waiting we had to get up and ask someone else to get us the answer. THEN when our server came over to take our order he seemed annoyed and as if we were a bother. We ordered and not a few moments later another server came and told us that our waiter was being phased and he was our new server. HE WAS AWESOME he got us bread and apologized for the service mishap. When the dinner came the food looked good, I was so hungry it didn't matter the risotto was over salted I ate it for the chick I added and didn't need all the rice. As this had been so drawn out I was afraid to say something. I did when they picked up our plates, and the new server offered to buy us dessert. It as late and we were full and tired so we thanked him for turning our horrible start to the night around. (In other news - the server we had just didn't want our table he was actually working tables and was there when we left).
We went for the PDX Dining Month. Service, drinks, and meal was absolutely phenomenal. A great selection for the 3 course dining. Brandon, our server, was top notch. He was very outgoing, personable, and helpful in recommending and describing all the choices. Thank you for a most enjoyable evening.
I have never had a bad experience at Gracie's. It just seems to get better.
We had a not-so-good experience on our last visit, which was our first time to have dinner at Gracie's. I had the lobster pot pie and there was virtually no lobster in it. Like, almost none. At $39, which I balked at because it was so (ridiculously) expensive, I assumed it would be LOADED with it. So very disappointing. Also, I have to assume the restaurant was very understaffed; it took a loooong time to get drink service, and what seemed like an eternity to get our meal. The restaurant was pretty full and everyone was just sitting around waiting for food. Can't foresee coming back.
When we made the reservation we requested a corner table so our autistic 5yr old would be in a quieter area and when we got there they had the perfect table for us! The hostess told us that she used to take care of a special needs child and totally understood what we needed! They even had an off the menu kids menu so he was super happy with his food! My husband and I decided to try the Portland dining month tasting menu and we were delighted we did! Blackened prawns were delicious, beef cheek was super tender and had a delicious sauce, my husband loved his ravioli and the desserts were amazing too!
We had a wonderful evening at Gracie’s before seeing a play at Artist Repertory Theatre. Service, food and beverages were excellent in a romantic environment. We enjoyed the Portland Dining Month menu very much! Also enjoyed the wine pairings!
Went for Portland Dining Month and was our first time at the restaurant and Hotel DeLuxe. Beautiful hotel and restaurant, very elegant yet comfortable. Service was very attentive and food was delicious. Great special occasion spot.
Excellent Brunch. Very good service!
Undoubtedly the best place for Brunch!
Great service, food, and atmosphere. Hostesses are very welcoming, and remember us, which is a plus in our book.
Terry, our server was excellent, as was his assis., Maricela.
Favourite dishes include the German Pancake, Huevos Rancheros, Salmon Benedict, and the omelets. Great coffee, also.
Never miss a weekly visit!!
My husband, daughter and out went for Sunday brunch with friends who were visiting from out of town. Whether savory or sweet, we all loved our meals. The prime rib benedict was outstanding, and so was the German pancake and huevos rancheros. The spinach omelet, pancake, and sides of fried egg and bacon were good too. Would definitely go back and recommend to friends.
The only thing possibly missing was a brunch cocktail. We probably could have ordered it, but didn't see it on the menu.
Excellent choice for Portland Dining Month, friendly service and nice food selection
Brought friends for Dining Month since your menu was very appealing and we have enjoyed all of our other visits. It was a little noisier than previous visits but not excessively so. It's always a pleasurable experience dining with you.
Fancy, quaint and tasty. The Portland Dining Club menu with wine pairing was the perfect birthday dinner.
I went for Portland Dining Month, and the portions were laughable. Don't participate if you're not going to be able to feed adults.
The restaurant is lovely and our service was very good. The food was good and beautifully presented but the portions were quite small and we were not offered bread. I think for the prices, you could be a bit more generous with the portion size.
Step back in time when the old Portland hotels were ornately appointed and elegant. That's Gracie's. The service is attentive without smothering, the food is excellent (though so far I've only had breakfast). Love the ambiance and valet parking is available right across the street making it easy in and out. Highly recommend for small groups and couples dining.
Gracie's is our favorite 'go-to'! We got forgotten by our waiter, when this was brought to his attention, he treated us with a bowl of fresh fruit while we waited for our order - simple gesture made the biggest impact!
Of course, we will be back!
This is one of the few places in town with good food, great old-fashioned ambiance, great service, and validated parking. As a bonus, it is quiet and conducive to conversation. It is not a foodie hotspot, but the food is delicious, and going there is always a treat.
Friday night, about 1/3 full. . .took 20 minutes to get a cocktail (soup came before drink), server was really trying but said kitchen was backed up (?????), finally got meal. Chicken Parmesan was burnt and cold and Dover sole raw (sushi raw). Really sad because we were giving it another chance after eating there a few months ago and having another not great experience. Won't be returning for dinner.
We had a post valentines dinner.
Perfect place for a romantic Valentine’s Day dinner. The special menu had several choices and was delicious. The service was excellent as usual. Great special occasion restaurant.
The food was exceptional. We went there for Valentine’s Day. The crab salad had avocado, pineapple, toasted coconut on a bed of cucumbers. Scallops were amazing. 3 desserts! There was a chocolate meringue cookie with strawberries that was heavenly. Absolutely delicious all around!
Ambience was beautiful and elegant.
We celebrated valentines day with another couple. We all are over the top about our experience. I had teh crab salad followed with a steak. The crab was fantastic and the steak was perfect at medium rare. Incredibly tender with a delicious sauce. Portions were perfect. We enjoyed a trio of dessert tastes that were also excellent. I have been here several times and will dine at Gracie's again.
Dined here for Valentine’s Day. Food was delicious, and they accommodated a very sensitive gluten allergy, which is always a great find! Nice ambiance - could have been improved if live piano player/singer (it was Vday after all). Service was not up to expected level - simple things like not having the appropriate utensils. Waiter was awkward. Overall, we still enjoyed the food. Think there is better overall experience to be had in Portland for the price.
The prix fixe Valentine's Day dinner was excellent, a well-selected menu, and every course was deliciously prepared and presented. Our server, David, was attentive without being intrusive, and has a delightful sense of humor. A result of our experience was deciding, during dinner, that we're going to plan a staycation at Hotel Deluxe sometime soon and re-do our romantic evening at Gracie's.
We have visited Gracies many times. Most recently I took my wife and mother-in-law to celebrate Valentines. The server was the worst experience we have ever had at Gracies.
Server's initial approach was - let's hurry up, I've got too many things going on. While she seemed to regain professional composure; she would disappear for long stretches, forget to bring coffee - multiple times; returned the check after an unbelievable wait without my credit card or parking ticket. Then she returned my credit card then took it away when I pointed out that my parking ticket was missing. While we will return to Gracies, I will request another server as her behavior was grossly unacceptable.
We had a wonderful dining experience. The wood was great, the service was excellent and the atmosphere was quite. Delightful!
Service was impeccable from arrival to departure. Every employee exhibited care for us as customer and pride of representing Gracie’s as restaurant.
Cocktails were innovative and creative.
We ordered lobster pot-pie and mushroom risotto with lobster. To die for!
Unfortunately no room for desert, for which we will have to come back for.
Thank you for having us. You will see us again soon.
It had been years since our last visit to Gracie's and we were delighted to find the entire experience even better than remembered. It is a premier dining spot in Portland for relaxed dining and quiet conversation. The menu selection is stunning. Easily the best Portland dining experience we have had in Portland in a long time. The Driftwood Bar a few feet away appears to be a must-visit=soon jewel. They have assembled a professional team that pays attention to details; something I find uncommon in today's fast-paced world.
I love this beautiful place. Many good memories from the old days before it changed management. Unfortunately the chicken o my Cobb salad was a little over cooked and the hamburger tasted of fish. Might go back, try something else
