High level of noise made conversation difficult. Server was very polite and helpful but nothing could be done. Would avoid on weekends in the future.
A very pleasant evening and a very elegant restaurant. The best part of the experience was our server, Jimi. She was completely friendly and accommodating all the way through. We plan to return during the Christmas season and looking forward to it!
I have not been to this restaurant in a few years and it does not disappoint! It is the loveliest, most elegant setting and all of the staff are just the best! Even the hotel staff was super friendly. The food was amazing and the desserts were beautiful and delicious! I have to say that celebrating my birthday there with my friend (and her birthday) was really a treat. Thank you so much to the staff at Gracies!!
We went before the Timbers game and it was perfect. Great food, great service, great ambiance. I love dining at Gracie’s.
Steak was good but overdone.
Tuna Nicoise was outstanding.
Food was excellent; service seemed off. We arrived with 4 kids and were not given kid menus or told there were kids menus. When we ordered we became aware of this - not a deal breaker, but attention to detail wasn't there. Our server was great, but they seemed to lack staff otherwise. We were not routinely offered coffee or water refrills and there was no one clearing off dinnerware that was either not being used or needing taken for washing other than the server most of that time. None of this was so bad that I wouldn't go back, but it was definitely noticeable and impacted our experience. That said, it was good for a large group.
Everything was very fresh and beautifully plated. Wonderful place for brunch!
As we enter and are whisked to our table, again--as on many prior visits-- we notice the elegant surroundings and friendliness. Menu selections are superb and prices are appropriate. Pacing was good and our waiter was superb. One "cool dude" wearing a baseball cap at a nearby table took the ambience down two notches. We will be back and bring friends.
Beautiful setting. Food was excellent - we had brunch; all four of us were delighted with our different choices. Waiter started out a little on the "I can barely fake being nice," but warmed up with the meal. Not Portland hip, but elegantly conservative; beautiful care taken for the historical details. Slightly older crowd, but some youngish peeps probably staying at the hotel. I was pleasantly surprised by the excellent food...
Judging from what I had seen online with pictures of the place it was portrayed as a much nicer spot than it was when I looking at pictures and when I got there it was like being catfished by google. The service was great. Daniel took great care of us. But for 100 bucks I was expecting far more of a “fine dining” atmosphere for the price tag. I don’t think I will be back anytime soon on less it was free and had some kind of improvement with the food.
Great atmospheric spot for brunch. The salmon Benedict was amazing!
Late anniversary dinner.
It was noisy due to a party, and chilly from AC. The chicken parmisan was edible but thick and not pounded down enough. The mushroom soup and salad were good.
I booked this with the understanding I would get 1000 points, instead seemed to have gotten none. Bait and switch?
It appeared our server was new. Asked if it was okay if all of our eggs were cooked medium poached (must be their standard) but they all came out poached hard. The raw apples in the corned beef was interesting... the corned beef seemed to have been cut and then cooked and very under seasoned. The food was bland. The by one get one mimosa was a nice touch! Also took a long time for her to run our one card for payment. If you are new or busy we understand but you didn’t communicate that to us. It appeared since we had to pay the 20% gratuity being a party over 6 people that the server didn’t feel she had to work for the tip. Disappointing... Won’t be back.
As always, an elegant space with great food and service.
Amazing ambiance. Nice classic American indulgence food...incorporating Dungeness crab. lobster and prime rib with your brunch choices. Drink a mimosa, have fresh squeezed orange juice. My guest and I both ordered the crab and avocado club sandwich on toasted sourdough. It came with a cup of tomato soup for dunking (a bit too sweet for my taste, but still good.) We split an order of mushroom risotto topped with lobster for extra indulgent yumminess. Food was very good, but the ambiance is something special. You do get that old Hollywood moving dining room/piano bar kind of feel. Love the Stardust Memories playing in the background, along with many of the old time movie soundtrack classics. This is the place for out of town guests who can stay at this lovely, beautifully appointed hotel, and then have a great meal in a relaxing, evocative environment. I will return for special occasions and occasional indulgences when I need a little dose of tasty Hollywood dining ambiance.
Valet was fantastic!
I have been to Gracie's many times and think their brunch is the best in Portland. We loved the crab
eggs benedict..but all of their choices are outstanding. The elegance of the ambience, lovely service
and setting in the Hotel Deluxe is my favorite place to bring out of town guests.
That Gracie’s was ridiculously cold colored our whole experience! We were sitting directly in the path of 2 a/c vents. The maitresse d’ noticed when she seated us, said they would adjust the air, but there was no change. The food was fine, but it was cold after about 5 minutes. Initially, service was a bit slow. Huevos Rancheros were tasty. The steak in my husband’s steak and eggs was cooked as ordered but riddled with fat. Our vegan daughter had little to choose from — oatmeal with non-dairy milk, fruit or salad (for brunch?) — which is surprising for Portland.
This is our go-to for special occasions and any other time we feel like doing something special. New for us, this time, was the beautiful and delicious carrot salad...not at all what we expected, much better! And kudos to our fave server, Lindsay; she's a gem!
Terry the waiter was amazing. Always a solid choice for fine dining.
Really enjoyed our meal. The service was top notch.
We will return.
Ok but could have been better. Delicious food but peaches on the peach and burrata salad weren’t ripe. We shared that with the waiter and he said they were aware but yet they’re still serving the dish.
The hotel has a nice “throw-back” type vibe, which was charming and they offer a complimentary two hour valet. Quality of food was very good (we had the risotto and the pasta dish), but service was just ok. It took a while to get our food, especially considering there were very few people in the restaurant with us. We didn’t mind the slower pace but it could be a problem if you’re pressed for time.
We had a wonderful dining experience. Our server Lindsay was very pleasant and helpful, and very attentive without hovering. The restaurant was the perfect place for old friends to have a lovely dinner and great conversation because the noise level was just perfect--not so quiet you felt you were in church, and not so noisy that you had to raise your voice. The oysters were delicious, as was the salmon, the scallops and the mushroom/lobster paella. A great evening.!
Excellent food and service in a beautiful establishment. Perfect for our anniversary dinner.
Always a wonderful time at Gracies.
Such a wonderful experience at Gracies! We were celebrating our anniversary and the staff couldn’t have been better—from the moment we entered and were seated through the time we left. Lindsay took such good care of us—just the great amount of attention without being intrusive. The decor and ambiance are perfect and the cocktails and food superb! We would recommend every item we chose—crab dip, chicken parmesan, risotto, chopped salad, caramel brownie sundae, and bourbon peach crisp. We will definitely be back!
We had a lovely time celebrating my husbands birthday! I was looking for a romantic and quiet atmosphere and Gracie’s was exactly what I wanted. Service was attentive and catered to our tastes. I read some conflicting reviews about service and timing before I made a reservation but it’s possible people are not familiar with fine dining which takes a little more time but it’s done specifically to give you time to socialize and take breaks between courses. My only negative comment would be the hostess dress code. Something a little more formal (possibly just black and white) would give off a better first impression. Otherwise highly recommend!
We noticed that the menu has changed and that there are too few servers - we thought the place seemed a bit dreary rather than its usual comfortable self.
On the good side, the valet parking is a real plus downtown.
Fine dining in Old World elegance. Old Portland at its classy best - and at reasonable prices.
Seems busy and maybe understaffed? Did not feel well taken care of.
Food was good and overall not bad.
To say it was disappointment is an understatement. We were celebrating our marriage and made a reservation a few months beforehand. When I called two days prior to confirm, and to let them know that my father would be making a speech so we could hopefully have a private table, we were never told that we would have to be out an hour after our reservation began as "people were coming in to move out every table." Needless to say we were absolutely shocked when we walked in the door and were told that our food order needed to be in in 5 minutes by the host. Unsure what to do, we sat down and our server was so incredibly rude to our table we decided we would rather celebrate our important day at literally any other place with any other people than the way we were treated at Gracie's. Their staff is unorganized, unprofessional, and ill-equipped to be thought of in high regard among Portland's fine-dining restaurants.
Came back to Gracie’s for scallops as they were not on the menu for Ptld Dining Month. We were surprised to find out they were still off the menu. We were told they will be on the summer menu. We ordered pork cheeks and lamb shanks and they were delicious!!
One of my favorite places. Light and bright dining room with comfortable seating and an excellent menu. Service is impeccable My favorite part though, is how quiet it is. One of the few places in Portland where you can actually have a conversation without raising your voice. Be sure to start in the Driftwood Bar, dark, quiet, from a different era.
It’s a very pretty room for a celebration and quiet for older people which is nice but the service was terrible and there were only like four tables on a quiet Monday night . Food was probably for room service. It’s such a beautiful room
They should have at least one or two nice meals that are special for just diners.
As always, we had a great time with our group at lunch. The food and service is always good and our server Terry takes extra care in making sure we are well taken care of.
My daughter and I took her Dad out for Father’s Day breakfast. Service was exceptional, food delicious and the overall experience left us wanting to come back. Wonderful!
Needed a romantic setting for our anniversary. So, this establishment was absolutely perfect! The service was impeccable as well as the atmosphere. The food was really good...but feedback on the Caesar Salad (which I asked to go easy on the dressing - and they did). But it was VERY salty...couldn't finish it. I had the filet mignon....I always order Medium + and it comes out perfect at restaurants. But this one wasn't the best. It was good - but for a filet...I would have expected it to be more tender.. But overall we had a great anniversary. THANK YOU! Oh and thank you for picking up our dessert. Which was so amazing..brownie, ice cream, caramel sauce...heaven!
I have been here a few times & was excited to take my daughter for her birthday. I was shocked that the service was so bad. It took forever to get water & place our order. One of our orders was wrong. My steak was terribly stiff as well.
