Portland Dining Month and Anniversary.
We took advantage of “Dine-out Downtown” month to sample this restaurant for the first time. Even if the food and service had not been great, the beauty of the design and decorations of this restaurant made for a lovely, romantic, evening. It really took you back to the elegance of less frenetic times in the early part of the 20th century.
The restaurant was not busy because of coronavirus, and there seemed to be just one server. However, the gracious Liberty handled the job superbly, at one time covering six tables including a group. She was assisted by the chef who at times brought courses from the kitchen.
There was a reasonable choice on the special menu for the month, and all courses my wife and I had were very good, and often had a twist that took them out of the ordinary. My wife’s first course was marinated prawns with a very interesting salad which included avocado, fennel, and hearts of palm. My main course of King Salmon might sound ordinary, but the salmon was beautifully cooked, and the accompaniments of Great Northern beans, Swiss chard, and andouille sausage lifted the dish. All the desserts were decadent!
There were some interesting wines available, but many were slightly over-priced as is usual in a hotel restaurant.
We intend to return to sample the whole menu.
Our waiter was amazing. The food was over the top. The Chef came out to talk to us. It was an excellent experience.
I really want to love Gracie's. The cocktails are from the driftwood lounge across the hall, totally worth it. But the food is pedestrian at best using things like (and I dont know for a fact, but the taste was remarkably similar) canned demi-glace sauces and gluey mashed potatoes. There were bright spots in the food. But unfortunately they were minimal. Also, when a server says "we prepare our salmon medium rare, is that ok with you?" I expect something less than well done salmon. Desserts were a complete miss. The service was great, the space is nice and open. But for prices on par with the better dining establishments in Portland, I think distancing themselves from Sysco pre-made products is the bare minimum one could ask. Hire a new chef, let the high school lunch lady go.
Tremendous service! Benjamin was outstanding in every way. The food was excellent as always, especially the vegetables on the side.

Fantastic Hotel/Building. Food was not good. Bland. Service was also not great. Inattentive. May be a good place to stop for a drink and see this amazing building. However with so many good food choices in Portland I would pick a different place to eat.
An enjoyable experience start to finish. We loved our server. The food was delicious and very well presented. The wine pairings were great. An elegant dining experience!

$6 for a tiny bowl of fruit. Not a vegan-friendly spot, or good value. There are much better places to go.
Our party of 4 took advantage of Portland Dining Month to dine at Gracie's. We were pleasantly surprised by the wonderful choices in appetizers, main and dessert courses. I had a shrimp salad that was prepared perfectly. Two people ordered the braised beef which was very tender and full of flavor. We all ordered the Creme Brulee for dessert and it also showed the level of care in preparation. The ambience of Gracie's is lovely and conducive to conversation. Our server was very professional and there at our table at the right moments. Loved this place and dinner. I would highly recommend and will return to Gracie's to dine again.

The smoked salmon hash had to be returned the 1st time as it was overcooked, greasy and contained very little salmon. The 2nd time around,, there were a few more bites of salmon, but it was still greasy, looked dark brown, and the potatoes were not hashed at all, but entirely small round potatoes cut in half. The 2 poached eggs were OK.
This was a big disappointment, but I have been gone from Portland for 6 years, and the quality at Gracie's has apparently gone way down hill since then. This use to be my favorite dish here.
My server, tried his best to put a happy face on it all, and checked my grapefruit juice off the check, as a way of showing good faith. Unfortunately, I won't be returning to Gracie's. Too many other good brunch spots in PDX.

Overall, it was a very nice experience. It was my birthday dinner and it was very fun to have celebrated it there. The service was good and the food was amazing!

Gracie’s is always so much fun and the food is delicious, too. For me, it’s like entering into a bygone era and it feels so romantic. The service is top notch, also.

First time here and honestly I won’t be back. The service was aggressively bad both in terms of attitude as well as responsiveness at times. Hey appeared to be way understaffed for a Sunday brunch spot. The food was average at best for all of the diners I was with.
Had lunch brunch with group of 6. Menu was perfect as 2 people chose lunch items and four had breakfast/brunch items. Everyone’s food was perfectly prepared. Sat in booth/table in rear of restaurant which was perfect for talking and catching up. Interior is consistently great each time we go.
At $100/person, the value wasn’t there.

Always a lovely place for brunch. I have been disappointed in the past but this visit the food was fresh and very good. I would have liked my coffee refill to be less stale. The server was appropriately available throughout the meal. its a mystery why the greeter said I didn't have a reservation when I arrived because two guests had already arrive and were seated under the reservation in my name. She showed me to an empty table and my party had to then come retrieve me. It was a lovely time and we stayed way past when the meal was finished and everybody was cool with that. Its a good place to eat and talk.

We have gone to this establishment numerous times over the last few years, however the visit on Feb. 9th will probably be our LAST VISIT. The wait staff (Mary P./1001) was loud, rude, and would not listen to any of my guests. There were four of us, three of us paid with credit cards and one with cash. Mary P. came out with our check and using a very loud voice that caused other restaurant patrons to turn around and look at us, said that she processed our payments, but, it was against their policy that was clearly printed on the menu. "You ladies really need to read the policy". She said that we could speak to the manager if we had a problem, we asked to speak to the manager, she came back and said that the manager was not available. One of my guests called and left a message for the manager, who has not bothered to call her back. All in all, this was really disappointing and I will not be recommending this restaurant to anyone moving forward. Thank you.
Romantic experience, enjoy the kidney table. I hope they have a piano player on Saturday evenings one day.
