Even though we had a reservation we had to wait 30 minutes standing up on this super noisy place - it is noisy to the point we couldn’t heat each other’s . The menu is relatively small and the food really not that great , not mentioning the astronomically expensive wine .
Bottom line only the decor is worth the hassle to get a reservation there.
When I first called they said it best to make reservations 3-4 days in advance. When I called 3-4 days in advance they said, 4 weeks...think the hostess was being a bit snarky to say the least. Was a real turn-off especially when calling back...however, the food was excellent as always...just may need to work on the host. Also, when we did make reservations, we kept being told we were next but others were being seated ahead of us...ended up waiting 45 minutes. So thumbs down on hostess service. Our waitress was excellent.
The best meal I have ever had in my entire life. I am not exaggerating. BEST. MEAL. EVER.
Thanks great as always
Loved the vibe
I noted we were celebrating a birthday when making the reservation, and even mentioned the birthday in front of the server and nothing special was done. The server had to be reminded of an an inquiry 2X and service wasn’t as attentive as our last visit.
Wonderful festive atmosphere. Quite the happening place - very noisy though. Lovely wait service though - thoughtful suggestions.
Excellent food and service! Fun for a birthday or a date.
The food was outstanding, however the service left a lot to be desired. Our server was yelling over our table talking to a man a the next table. The servers need to be schooled on how to do their jobs.
Innovative Food in a Comfortable Setting
We tried this restaurant on a whim and loved it! The food was innovative, and attractively presented. Best of all, the vegan menu was perfectly satisfying to even non-vegans. I had the black bean burger, which was perfectly spiced, and served on a soft, warm and fresh bun with a side of pineapple slaw (could have used more pineapple). My guest had the sweet potato flautas which were full of flavor and nicely paired with black beans. We would go here again, if only to try the outdoor courtyard, which was not open due to rain during our visit.
Sat at the bar. Great service. Very attentive. Clean bathrooms. Will definitely return to this spot soon.
Amazingly beautiful space. The food was delicious and trendy—also love that it’s for vegetarians!
From being greeted at the hostess table to being brought to your table and speaking with your wait staff is such a wonderful experience. The customer service is top notch the food was amazing and the ambience is wanderlust. I will most definitely be coming back here again.
Gracias Madre is my favorite restaurant in Los Angeles and no, I'm not vegan! Beautiful location with a fun romantic vibe and the food and drinks are to die for. Highly recommend the tasting menu and coconut fizz.
This is a perfect restaurant and in ambience and cuisine. I am delighted it is within walking distance from my home.
It was fantastic AND very delicious!!! It was a FAMILY get-together.
They were late on our reservation; no where to wait in overcrowded bar area. Ambiance was negligent -- cold, loud, hyper. hype hype hype. Food was bland, oily, heavy.
We were crowded and not really attended to . The food was amazing the server was nice but not at all attentive to our party of 2. The party of 6 a table away from us he wouldn’t leave alone. Think it could have been because of the tip??
Even though the seating was more limited than usual because the patio was closed due to rain we were seated shortly after we arrived. It was clear that the staff was well trained to deal with a difficult situation. The bartender even came from behind the bar to take our drink order as it was too crowded to get service directly at the bar. The food was very good and we will likely return.
Emily C was our server and she was AMAZING!!! Thank you so much!
Great Vegan food. Very hip and Hollywood. Good place to take out of towners to people watch and also great place for locals to enjoy the best of LA.
I enjoyed the food and the service to find a seat immediately even as I came earlier than expected. What I didn’t appreciate was the waitress asking for my order then turning her head to speak with other waiters, then asking me what I wanted to order again, to ignore what I requested to ask again because she wasn’t giving me her undivided attention. In the future, I’d like to have that waiters undivided attention. Besides that, I really enjoyed the food & drinks!
Regular at Gracias Madre, usually walk in but this time used the open table app. So streamlined and smooth.
Our son recommended this restaurant for our anniversary. The ambience was great and so was the food. We will definitely be back.
The best Mexican vegan food ever! The nopales tacos were amazing a bit over priced though: $7 per taco. The famous cauliflower was delicious and the sopes with mango salsa were to die for. Chips and authentic Mexican and the guacamole and salsas are too. True Mexican ingredients and authentic Mexican taste. Love this place!
We sat inside on the back right — next to the round top in the corner. The enchiladas were fantastic, loved the molé sauce. Their craft margaritas are to die for!!! Our server was super friendly and attentive! I didn’t catch his name, but he overheard my friend mention it was my birthday, so he surprised me with a tasty chocolate dessert. This is the second time I’ve been here in the last two weeks. Love their vegan menu! Didn’t take photos because we were too busy enjoying the food! Thanks for a great evening!
The most awesome dining experience in America yet. Loved the food and your team , especially Toby who went beyond in making us feel totz comfortable and right at home. Can’t wait to get back. Do yourselves a favor everyone and get there soon xxx
The vegetarian/vegan spin on Mexican cuisine is tasty and creative. Prices are high as usual for West Hollywood. Nice ambiance and table service but poor handling of reservation/seating put a damper on our evening. Wasn't seated until 8:47p for an 8:15p reservation and then at a communal table near the door instead of a real table. Hostess seating for our party of 3 was mismanaged
Had a wonderful evening on Tuesday! Celebrated my boyfriends 30th birthday and we had a spectacular time. We both love the restaurant and love to bring our friends and families there whenever we have guests in town.
Excellent service and staff!
p.s. we love Jesse! He's become a friend our ours just because he was our server once and was so awesome!
Good food and drinks. Crab cakes were the best. Got really busy after 7:00.
Loved the food, great service but crowded. Very popular even on a Tuesday night.
I was unfortunately really disappointed by the food’s taste. There was an absence of basic balance in the dishes that struck me as pretty blatant. For the price, some portions are almost comedically small; 12 USD guacamole is basically a quarter avocado in a flat bowl that would hold seven olives at best. The servers were really nice though, and so was the ambiance.
My date and I enjoyed our delicious meals so much! Such a cute date spot - we will definitely be back!
My party arrived 10 minutes prior to our reservation. The hostess was extremely rude, she said you are early you’ll be seated within 15 minutes. There is zero waiting area, so I stood with my party of four right in front of her until she decided she didn’t want to look at me anymore about two minutes later and she seated my party. I was so excited to bring my family to dine and try a new experience vegan Mexican food. My family is Mexican and I thought it would be a nice dining experience, sadly I was wrong. The food server was pleasant but took a very long time to take a drink order, then took an appetizer order. We did get a second food runner bring us water, he was also very pleasant. After about 3 minutes our appetizer came out and the third food runner approached the table with food. I mentioned to him is this our tables order? We just placed this order no more than few minutes ago, I didn’t want to jump my turn in case another table ordered the same item, and the food runner may have made an error. He said did you order this and I said yes, he then placed the plate on the table and said there you go. Being an eccentric person myself; I recognized his equally eccentric self in his response. I worked in food service and I know customer can be crazy, but I was behaving myself and didn’t expect his attitude, which I thought was kind of funny, yet rude since I’m a customer not his friend. The food was beautifully presented. The food was unique and a bit on the bland side for my naughty palate. ( I like spicy and more condiment flavored food). I had heard my coworkers rave about how cool this restaurant is. The restaurant is cool, but the hostess needs some time off. I would only return for happy hour and not spend the money for another dining experience.
I had stopped coming here a while ago mainly because I felt the menu while it was good, was lacking variety. Most of the dishes before seemed to taste the same. It was hard to tell where one item ended and the other began. My experience this time of what seems to be a new menu, was completely different. There is great depth to the menu and I found it hard to decide what I wanted. Service was a tad slow- it was a busy Sunday transitioning from brunch to dinner. Drinks were over priced for what is served. They are taste size portions for 15 bucks. The crab cakes and chimichangas were absolutely amazing.
As always a great dining experience.
A bit too loud, but a wonderful experience overall.
Lovely buzzing place
Food was excellent, service not so much.
Had to wait 15 minutes for my latte, I asked for sweetener and never got it, when we were ready to get the check the waiter was AWOL.
We finally had to ask another server for our check.
Need better seats. Chairs were very uncomfortable
