The idea of Gracias Madre was first conceived while visiting the families of our employees in Mexico. We wanted to do both; offer organic Mexican food to the communities we serve as well as honor the mothers who work tirelessly in the kitchens of Mexico and often live without their husbands and children while they work side by side with us in California. Inspired by some of the recipes of these families and the love of their mothers, Gracias Madre serves organic, farm fresh, locally sourced food, full of flavor and love with a menu spearheaded by Executive Chef Chandra Gilbert and agave-based cocktail program by Beverage Director Jason Eisner.
I arrived right at 15 mins after my reservation (They had a 15 min grace period). I ended up waiting or almost an hour. There were a lot of empty tables. The front desk said it was for the upcoming reservations, WHICH DIDN’T MAKE ANY SENSE SINCE I ALSO MADE A RESERVATION. ENDED UP SITTING ON A COMMUNAL TABLE WHICH I BELIEVED IT’S BEEN EMPTY FOR AWHILE. NO ONE CAME TO OUR TABLE TO SERVE FOR WATER. My friend and I had to raise both of our hands up just to get water since no one came!!! Please treat your Asian customers nicely. Won’t recommend this place.
Just perfect! From start to finish the experience was exceptional. Our server was spot on!
Been twice now. once for lunch (business) and once for dinner (personal). Both ridiculously brilliant. Everything about the place, valet parking included, is excellent. Will look for excuses to be in that area going forward.
Excellent food, service, and drinks. Starter portions are too small for the high price, but are well flavored.
AMAZING!!! We are visiting California for vacation- we’re here for a week and halfway through our trip..we have visited gracias madre three times already! We couldn’t get enough after our first visit where we had an amazing lunch. We came another night for drinks & desserts - their spicy margaritas are outstanding & chocolate fudge brownie was the perfect way to end our night! We also came for brunch which again was incredible. We are visiting from NYC so food is important to us & Gracias Madre blew us away!
The food was amazing, I didn't know it was all vegan before going but You couldn't even notice.
I absolutely adored my visit. It was so delicious more than i expected it to be!! It was a nice reunion with friends and we’re all vegan so it was a lovely experience.
Gracias Madre is my go-to spot
I really enjoyed the celebration of my birthday at Gracias Madre! Thank you
This is really a great WeHo foodie experience; really tasty vegan cuisine and exceptional cocktails. Can get a bit crowded, and this past time we were seated near a speaker, so somewhat loud. Also not cheap, but really nice outdoor and indoor spaces. Definitely check it out at least once!
Forgot my jacket there overnight. Went the next morning and nobody on staff kept in safe-keeping for me.
Solid location/ambiance, food is mediocre so don't expect much there. But it's a hotspot with good crowd.
One of the most beautiful restaurants in LA! Wonderful staff! Most creative and delicious menu that will satisfy even die hard carnivores.
I was really disappointed by my experience given I’d heard such positive things. We went for a birthday celebration; however, no one acknowledged it. They were out of about half the entrees, so the food we had was good but disappointing to not get what we wanted. Finally, the service was horrible, from the checkin ladies to our waitress who saw us maybe 3 times.
We love Gracias Madre and we couldn't think of a better restaurant to be on Mother's Day. Our one issue is with service, which has always been slower than we would like. On this occasion, our order didn't come out for 40 minutes. other than that, this is one of our favorite restaurants. The chips, salsa, margaritas and food are great. See you next time.
The food and atmosphere is always on point. My sisters and I were taking my mom there for Mother’s Day and had reservations at 12. We told the lady at the front we wanted outside seating but not at the communal table. She said it would be within 30 minutes and we agreed. It was 11:50 when the lady came and assisted us to the communal table even after we kindly expressed not wanting it and still had to wait over 40 minutes
The food is always great (and very innovative), but the best feature was the service. It's usually great, but on Mother's Day the waiter was funny and attentive, as well as quick to get us started while never rushing us. He suggested some appetizers that were adventurous and made it very clear that if we didn't like them, he'd "take care of us." That made it easy to try some new things! The other staff seamlessly brought drinks and cleared things away quickly despite the growing crowd at brunch. A great experience.
Loved Gracias Madre. Service was outstanding. Food fresh, original and so pretty! Drinks were also amazing. The salted caramel brownie made from black beans was so good. You’d never know it was beans! Definitely will go back.
Great spot, food and service were excellent. However, our server did offer to bring us chips and guac knowing that we would be charged quite a bit for the guac.
Trendy with must have reservations and if it is raining much less seating ( in terms of finding a reservation) as outdoor patio seating is out. Food is delicious , pricey but good. Service is very good . As doors to outdoor seating on patio stay open , bring a sweater or jacket.
Verve is on the corner for a latte with milk
The crab cakes are incredibly good as is the Flautas dish a combo of black beans and sweet potato.
Street parking available with some looking as well as valet.
Always amazing. You don’t need to be vegan to enjoy the food. Highly recommend. Don’t forget a margarita!
The place is pretty cool; trendy and comfortable. The food had some hits and some misses.
The service was average. I read many reviews of being sort of forgotten and that was our experience as well.
Overall it's a solid recommendation for a nice meal out.
This is maybe my third visit to this location of Gracias Madre. It’s one of the most beautiful restaurants in town, with a gorgeous interior and patio. I requested an outside table, but was told when I arrived that they didn’t have one - that it was only a notation, not a guarantee. Within a few minutes of waiting at the bar, we got our outside table, albeit far in the back, not in the central part of the space. Our server seemed distracted, and in fact, forgot to place my order. When the rest of the food was delivered, she realized her mistake - and somehow managed to get my dish from the kitchen - probably swiping it from someone else’s table. We noticed that her indifferent attitude wasn’t just towards us - she was the same with other tables. We felt a little rushed - like they wanted us to leave - which wasn’t the greatest. All in all, the food here is fantastic, the drinks great - and the ambience is quintessential LA.
We loved our waiter!
Delicious vegan food and imaginative cocktails. Very well situated close to other exciting neighborhood destinations, yet expansive and fun layout. Great overall vibe.
Our waitress was incredible, sweet, and funny and offered us the perfect recommendations!
It was my first visit. The food and service was great. Unfortunately my partner is allergic to onions. We asked for none on an item and it came with it. Once we found out and brought it to their attention. They were very friendly and generous with the situation. We are definitely going to return.
Delicious food, beautiful ambiance, and the best margaritas ever! Come during happy hour for a variety of food and drinks and a smaller crowd. Good for couples or large groups celebrating one of life's special moments!
Great place. Delicious food and really great cocktails. Beautifully decorated and the patio with swagged lights is charming
great atmosphere, food is always great. It feels like a vibrant city with an amazing patio!
Despite a reservation we were given only two options: sit at.a lousy table inside, near the hostess stand, or sit outside but vacate the table by 8 pm for an event (reservation was at 6:30 pm). This was a business dinner with colleagues from another country. An embarrassing and unfortunate situation that demonstrates how unprofessional Gracias Madre can be. By the way, there were lots of other empty tables. I didn’t want to make a scene in front of my guests.
One of my favorite restaurants in LA and I’m not even vegan!
I was excited to visit from the E Coast after seeing all the amazing pics on their IG account, but I left disappointed. We seemed to have been forgotten sitting tightly between another table and the fireplace. The cocktail was good, and the cauliflower was pretty good, but the tostada & veg on it seemed soggy & flavorless, and the tamale had a weird artificial aftertaste to it.
Birthday dinner. Downside, they forgot us while we were waiting despite we had a reservation. Everything else was fantastic.
Bday for friend and first time visit.
Birthday; food is over priced; but the ambiance is great
