The idea of Gracias Madre was first conceived while visiting the families of our employees in Mexico. We wanted to do both; offer organic Mexican food to the communities we serve as well as honor the mothers who work tirelessly in the kitchens of Mexico and often live without their husbands and children while they work side by side with us in California. Inspired by some of the recipes of these families and the love of their mothers, Gracias Madre serves organic, farm fresh, locally sourced food, full of flavor and love with a menu spearheaded by Executive Chef Chandra Gilbert and agave-based cocktail program by Beverage Director Jason Eisner.
Subpar at best
Amazing food, great recommendations, nice restaurant and atmosphere. Will be back!
I have a friend visiting from Praha and was curious about vegan food. I been here numerous times so I knew he'd be impressed.
We chose this due to proximity to the Troubadour where we were going. It far surpassed any expectations. Highly recommend to anyone even if they think they don’t like vegan, they won’t know!
Awesome food. Great server and excellent experience overall
Food was delicious! Great patio dining, a perfect date night.😊
Love this restaurant. Our waiter was much fun & patient. We didn’t order right away as we savored our mescal drinks. And the food is superb. So healthy!!! And elegant.
Good ambience, attentive service and excellent food!
Overall good. The food and drinks are always delicious. A little pricey but it's an experience.
Delicious!! Everything tasted fresh and amazing. Glad we chose here as one of our restaurants for our trip to LA.
Honestly, I love Gracias Madre. But last night put a bad taste in my mouth for the restaurant. My reservation was at 9. Everyone arrived and we checked in 10 minuets early. They informed us that the table hadn’t finished their meal yet and should be done shortly. I checked for a status update again at 9:15, 9:25, and then 9:30. FINALLY at 9:45 they said our table was ready. They apologized for being late and informed me that they got backed up. But people in line and walk ins kept going up and getting seated before us. Our waiter was busy with other tables, but only checked in on us once. The food as always was delicious. But the service was poor and I am disappointed considering this was a birthday dinner with friends.
We had to wait over 20 minutes even though I had a reservation
Had to wait 30 minutes for a table I reserved in advance. Food and service were average. Not worth all the trouble.
Perfect delicious like always!!! I love the food ! The place is amazing
The food is delicious. The prices are high. The biggest problem with this place is that it's CROWDED and LOUD. There are no "quiet areas"...so one must shout to speak to your dinner date.
PLEASE MAKE AN AREA WHERE YOU CAN HEAR ONE ANOTHER.....
Gracias Madre is a wonderful experience the food and wait staff are superb
Will make several more trips to the Madre.
So good! We shared the chips and guac and I got the chopped salad with the tempeh chorizo, delicious! Definitely will be back
The food was really good! A little pricey but still excellent would definitely be going back.
I’ve been to Gracias madre before a few years ago so I recommended as an option for a girlfriends bday dinner. I made a reservation but when i got there the hostess told us to wait on the side. We watched people get seated before us that seemed to have reservations or no reservations after us. After about 15 mins we asked when our table was ready and the hostess told us they have two tables one inside or outside but both are ready we said we would take any table. Then to wait another 10 mins and finally we were like look if you don’t have a table ready we can cancel our reaversrion. There was a table for 6 that was just cleaned so they sat us there - it was only 3 of us. We sit down and my one friend mentioned she was allergic to cilantro and could not eat spicy food - the waiter recommended a few options. Food comes out and it’s covered i mean covered in cilrantoZ also our waiter took a break during her shift they we legit had three different waiters. My friend didn’t eat bc we we had to wait for who ever was waiting us to send back the food. Our new waiter recommends like one option bc apparently everything has cilantro. Needless to say the food was somewhat flavorless and the service seemed to only seat “hot” looking people and also can the waiters learn that when someone has an allergy they cannot eat the food. Overall it was just a bad experience and the food was certainly not worth it. Won’t be going back.
Service was not very good. Food was mediocre.
This place is very trendy. I love the crab cakes and intimidate setting.
Food itself was delicious as usual, but it was very disappointing in terms of service. I wrote on Open table that my family was celebrating my birthday lunch. There was no acknowledgement of my birthday from the host who took us to the table to the waitress who served us. My family and I were shocked that no one even mentioned birthday wishes.
Gracias Madres need to work on focusing on customer service.
I always enjoy eating at this restaurant. The vegetarian dishes are original, authentic and so delicious. The Mexicali decor is beautiful with a effortless chic vibe. The service is always great and friendly.
The cashew coffee flan is possibly the best thing that ever happened to me
Outstanding contemporary vegan Mexican dining. A must visit in Los Angeles
Food was great and we loved the food as always!
Best appt in LA!
Came in with my mom and my grandmother. We love the environment of this amazing restaurant. The Mexican gastronomy was "riquísimo!!!". Thank you Gracias Madre for the amazing hospitality. Three generations Mexican enjoying all sazon in all your dishes... yummy goodies. OMG, the flan was my favorite and of course, we LOVED the Mezcalito!!! Big thanks to our server... he rocked... Josh C. He knows his Mezcal. -
Beautiful setting and friendly waiters but the food was just OK. I requested outside seating at the time of booking and we still had to wait 40 minutes. Waiters (we had two as one took a break) were very pleasant but we waited a really long time for our food. I had the beer battered mushroom tacos as they were out of the mushroom fajitas and they were nothing special. I would recommend on the space but not on the food.
Great food and great atmosphere! Hope to go back when visiting LA!
Beautiful venue with great outside seating. Even though it was a warm day it was still comfortable outside. The food all looked beautiful and tasted very good, but the main dishes missed an oh wow factor that would make me want to come back again and have that dish. It all could have kicked up with seasoning a notch or two, especially with the flavor and punch of the two side sauces that come on the table. Some of it is expectation, description, and pricing that makes me want more. Two side dishes stand out - the street corn and the key lime cheese cake dessert. They were both a flavor party in the mouth. The cheese cake had a wonderful creamy tartness without being too sweet or too heavy. Keep it on the menu!! On this visit the wait staff was surprisingly inattentive. Slow to check back, forgot requests, slow to bring the bill when we asked and then forgot to come back and get the credit card. I still give it a four star rating, so this is polish that would take it from a 4 to a 5 or continued inattention that could drop them to a 3.
Gracias Madre is a beautifully aesthetically pleasing restaurant. The service was good and the food was delicious but way overpriced. We ordered guacamole and for $12.50 you’d think you’d get a decent amount of it, nope 👎 Got a beautiful salad that was $15 and in reality should have been no more than at the max $12. Everything tasted fresh and delicious but it will definitely not be a restaurant (even though we could afford it) that we frequently visit due to how much the food costs.
We had an Amazing dinner! Guacamole is the best! I had the mushroom tacos and they were the business. #yum
Awesome setting outside. Great food and drinks. My second time enjoy Gracias Madre
When it comes to fine vegan dining in the city of Los Angeles one would be hard pressed to find any kitchen churning up more interesting and delicious plates then that of Gracias Madre. From the chic outdoor dining area, one can enjoy a bevy of inspired cocktails, before diving into a familiar yet elevated menu. From classics to more modern plates, one simply can’t go wrong picking any assortment. I would recommend the ceviche of coconut or the delicious gorditas. If the appetizers inspire you to dive in deeper I’d further recommend the jackfruit carnitas Tacos. For skeptics of vegan dining, this dish will truly shock you. Dessert is delicious and thoughtful. Service is quick and careful. I can’t wait to enjoy another purista margarita there soon!
I am in the tequila business and wanted to see the program at this restaurant; It was superb. Totally support the message against industrial production of tequila that they are sending and they only carry brands produced traditionally. I had never had vegan either and it was amazing. Everything about the restaurant was excellent and the ultimate praise in my view is would I go back? Yes I will come back most definitely!
Great service, great food, great vibe, great experience. I’m a big fan of Gracias 💕🌸☺️✌🏼
The host was very rude to us and the guests sitting next to us. Not a good way to start out our experience
Best Vegan spot that I have found so far!!!! Must try if in West LA.
