We had an amazing time there in the afternoon. Everything was perfect, food, was light and surprisingly delicious in every bite. service was great, the atmosphere and tea set was beautiful. We loved being in the beautiful hotel with all the Christmas decorations. We highly recommend and will be coming back.

One of the best Christmas afternoon tea experience I have had . It was perfect with the live sound of Christmas Carols coming from the entrance of lobby . Service was excellent and tea sandwiches delicious. A wonderful way to celebrate the season with friends and family. This certainly will become a tradition for me.

Gotham Lounge was a perfect way to end out NYC vacation. The Holiday afternoon tea was delicious and the staff were lovely. When booking I asked for a special personalization on a menu or food item of some sort for my mother who had never been to NYC. They printed her a special menu with her name that said “Welcome to New York”. Also the hotel itself was decorated for Christmas and was gorgeous. Perfect way to end Christmas in New York.

We are two girlfriends visiting NYC and celebrating our 50th birthdays! We had the Christmas Tea plus champagne. Totally worth the $$$$$ - the experience did not disappoint. Beautiful ambiance, perfect service, delicious food and our champagne glass was never empty. Thank you to all the staff at the Peninsula Hotel and Gotham Lounge that truly made this the highlight of our weekend! It’s refreshing to meet people in the service industry who are passionate about what they do and truly care. 5 stars!!!

What a wonderful way to celebrate my 70th birthday! We came all the way from Australia for a trip of a lifetime and afternoon tea at The Gotham Lounge was definitely a highlight! Food was delicious, staff were friendly and attentive and the extra attention to detail was much appreciated! What a surprise to have a chocolate mousse cake! Thank you for making it a memorable experience!

I've been coming here since the 90's when my office was nearby, and I've always enjoyed this place! The tea and food are excellent, the atmosphere is quiet and relaxing, and the staff is among the nicest and most professional I've ever come across. I've had afternoon tea elsewhere, but nowhere else in the city beats this place!

I’ve been to several high tea services, including the Plaza Hotel, which I feel is pretty equivalent and this was probably the worst I’ve been to. The tea was lukewarm—like drinking dirty water. I sent it back only to have warmer water (not hot) added to the existing pot. The food, considering the price, was sparse to say the least. Usually the finger foods come in a 3 tier tower. This was about a 6” high tower where they included 2 adult services on. Besides that, the food was mediocre. We were also squeezed into seating where they had to put the tea pots on chairs next to us bc the table itself was overcrowded. Overall a very lackluster experience for a $350 bill.

Gotham Lounge is the perfect spot for a “spot of tea!” It’s inside the Peninsula Hotel which is decked out in the most festive holiday decorations everywhere you look. The service was impeccable. It is a bit pricey for tea, but it seems to be in the same range as some of the other luxury hotels. But it’s quiet, comfortable and a welcome respite during the hustle and bustle of the holiday season. A favorite place and highly recommended, even if just for a cocktail or celebratory glass of Champagne! 🥂🎄

Rough start to the Tea but finished well. First they had my name incorrect and then claimed not to be able to find my reservation. I showed my confirmation from open table and they sat us. Waiter was difficult at first about the food. Would not substitute or change any of the sandwiches until after he brought out the first plates. All my daughter eats is peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Is that so hard to just give all of those when they are already part of the offering? After the first plate he did nicely bring her more PB &J. Egg salad would have been good but they mixed in truffles, not just on top. Why all the truffle everything these days. Truffles are just okay, but, they actually make me very sick to my stomach so I can’t eat truffle anything. Scones were a tad over cooked. Lemon curd was very good, which is very important. Definitely need to improve the sweets. Tea selection was fine. And service overall was pretty good. I might go back, but will definitely try some other places first. Too bad The Plaza is off my list. The food is better at The Plaza but the service at the Plaza was just so bad and there is absolutely it excuse!!

In the description on opentable and the Gotham lounge website, it is not clear that reservations are only for high tea. Once we got there for our reservation, we were told we had to get the tea. My understanding was, If you want the high tea then a reservation was necessary. I showed the staff that the fine print did not say I was obligated to get it and spend $85 on some small sandwiches when a delicious bar menu was available! Not to mention, the bar menu was worth the price. The waiters were not very willing to hear me out and made it very difficulty and unwelcoming. I was disappointed in this atmosphere.

We went for afternoon tea. None of the food was fresh except for the scones. For $85 pp one at least deserves freshly made sandwiches and desserts, but NOOOOO. Don’t expect laduree desserts like the website advertises too bec you ain’t getting it, sadly. I sent a complaint to them by email. So far, no answer. Advice: don’t go, save your money and choose another place.

The Peninsula is a great hotel, and The Gotham Lounge is beautiful and intimate with a gorgeously unique chandelier dominating the middle. Unfortunately, I can in no way recommend the afternoon tea service. The food is just ok, taste as though it was mass produced in day(s) before its service. And the service is spotty at best, inconsistent, poorly timed, vaguely irritated and slow. Very disappointing performance on a terrific stage. Maybe it’s just better for happy hour or late night cocktails...

Went for afternoon tea with my mother and it was an exceptional experience. The menu was very robust for tea, with lots of types of tea to chose from and too many treats for us to eat in one sitting. The Lounge itself was beautiful and the china used made the tea feel very special. Service was attentive and our tea pots were kept warm and full throughout. I will definitely be returning for afternoon tea, but next time I'll make sure to skip lunch before to save room for all the treat included.

The high tea experience was wonderful I enjoyed my self. The setup was beautiful and I loved how it was secluded and private I felt very taken care of. The food was delicious. I did feel that for two extra mini scones $12 is a bit much especially since the plaza hotel doesn’t charge extra at all. Overall I was very pleased and satisfied.

One of best traditional afternoon teas in Manhattan. Service first rate and the "Savory" selection of finger foods & scones top notch. Not much of a sweets person, although did sample the tiny potted chocolate pudding & was delightful. Yes it's pricey, but it has all the class (and a much more intimate venue) of a Savoy or a Claridge's.

Afternoon tea at The Gotham Lounge of The Peninsula Hotel NY was a magical experience. Mr Conrado our server was attentive and he was excellent. He made us feel very important . From the Wedgewood Chine serving pieces to the delicious tea sandwiches and sweets and the decadent chocolates, this is a must have experience when in NYC. Thank you Gotham Lounge. I was very impressed with everything. It was a beautiful space, lovely service and delicious food. We had the afternoon tea and a glass of champagne and we were never made to feel rushed to get through everything as with many other afternoon teas. Definitely worth treating yourself to this.
