   It was a wonderful experience to celebrate our 39th anniversary! The staff wish solicitous gracious, warm, and fun! The food was as good as one could expect at the desert, which was a apple tartine was superb. I highly recommend got the restaurant that just for a special occasion, but for a comfortable quiet adult eating experience

   We had a wonderful meal at the Gotham for Restaurant Week. The food was superb/amazing. We started with squash soup and then had the pappardelle and brandzino. The mushroom pasta was creamy and flavorful and the fish was crispy on the outside but extremely tasty and moist on the inside. The chocolate flourless cake was the richest flourless I have ever had. Extremely dense , good quality chocolate. A standout. Truly a gourmet lunch. Service and atmosphere were excellent.

   Sat at bar . Very helpful and pleasant bar tender. Had halibut and pork belly dinner along with oysters and delicious French apple tart. Every aspect of dinner was memorable.

    The food at Gotham is always excellent. On this particular evening we had an early dinner and were seated away from any other customers (which was lovely), but it meant that no one bothered to keep our wine poured. We finally asked that the bottle be put next to us so that we could pour it ourselves. As for value, Gotham is expensive. It offers "good" value, but not "great" value.

    I was a little worried when we walked in Tuesday after New Years. It is a very large space and it was nearly empty. We were quickly seated in a great table spaced far apart from the other guests. My worries eased somewhat when we met the obviously well trained a polite waitstaff. By the time we tasted our tuna tartar appetizer we were feeling much better! When dinner arrived we were sure we had made the right choice. Everything was as advertised and prepared perfectly. I enjoyed a perfectly grilled arctic char with a slightly spicy tomato purée and roasted red pepper sauce. My companion ordered the lobster with squid ink pasta and artichokes with a light sauce added table side. We accompanied it all with a premiere cru Chablis. My companion said it was one of the best meals she ever had!

    We were back after a few years and were quiet disappointed. Tuna tartare and salad were way too salty. Way too much dressing in he salad. Service was great and main dishes were good.

    Gotham is fabulous! It's posh and brilliant from the minute you enter and see the bar area and the book shelves on the left side and until you get your delicious and delightful drinks and orders delivered to your table by the elegant staff. If you haven't been there, you must. It's an experience. Everything was outstanding: foie gras and crudo as appetizers and lobster for the main course were all cooked to perfection. I wish they had decent desserts as well. The drinks were excellent and service simply superb.

    Great 40th dinner celebration for my wife. We hadn't been back to Gotham for probably 8 yrs after moving out of the city (this was our favorite restaurant in NYC at the time so we had to return for this very special occasion). Gotham 2022 did not disappoint. Exquisite food, service, and ambiance - just as we had remembered it. We will surely be back and not in 8 yrs.

    We went for the Christmas Eve dinner. The special menu was rather short so at first I was rather disappointed at the limited choices, but everything was excellently prepared and presented and we ended up having a lovely time. There was a jazz trio playing that was also perfect--nice background music, but not so loud that you couldn't maintain a conversation.

    I sat at the bar for what I was hoping would be a lovely Christmas Eve meal. While the bartender did his very best it still ended up being a disappointment because the kitchen was so insanely slow that it took over an hour for my second course to arrive (this was pate, not something complicated!). He and the other gentlemen behind the bar were very apologetic and kept grouping together in a threesome to discuss how long my food was taking to arrive. I ended up getting comped my drinks, which at least was some consolation.

    The restaurant seemed overwhelmed when we got there for a 6:30pm dinner on Christmas Eve. There was an extremely drunk individual in the front area that kept us from being attended to, our table was in the back but in a direct line from the front door and there was a cold breeze everytime the door was opened. Our dinner order was lost and had to be re-entered. The service captain was attentive once it was lost but it seemed to be because everyone was overwhelmed.

    I've dined at the various Gotham iterations over the past 25 years. Prior to visiting in December 2022, I'd dined there in February 2020 leaving after the appetizer quite disappointed. As you can tell by this review, I gave the restaurant another try and was pleasantly surprised with the food, cocktails (exceptional) and service (warm and inviting).

    We always enjoy the exquisite food and dining experience at Gotham. Unfortunately the sommelier had an attitude problem that evening and multiple faux pas occurred. The first issue was my mistake but the subsequent ones that followed were do to his lack of communication with us and our waiter. My family orders cocktails and I the chosen wine for the dinner. Before our dinner arrived he removed everyone else’s wine glass and half way through our dinner they finally got them back. He then brought another bottle of wine and poured it for everyone. Subsequently at the the end of our dinner the waiter discovered there was still a half bottle left from the first one I had ordered.

    Once one of the true icons of the Manhattan restaurant landscape, Gotham has fallen to one of the most over-priced, mediocre dining experiences in NYC. I was SO looking forward to this not being the case, but like so many others ... even some of the legendary establishments continue to suffer from the lingering effects of COVID. Don't waste your hard earned disposable income here. You WILL be disappointed.
