excellent food, service tried but seemed rusty, timing from kitchen, redesign of room needs a rethink - food and wine were the stars
Excellent food and everything but I thought having spent $425 on dinner for 2, being asked to pay an extra $3 for a scoop of ice cream Showed a very poor Attitude although they they did begrudgingly wave it when challenged
New opening. New look. Some old faces. Ran out of an entree or two.
Generally very good.
Great new menu. Service was perfect. Will definitely return.
Welcome Back! Phenomenal evening, so happy to see Gotham reopen. You haven’t skipped a beat. Food was as good as I remember. But did miss having my Pomegranate Martini. All the best.
Fantastic staff - incredibly attentive, personable and detailed in all the best ways. The cocktails were outstanding- I’d challenge any hipster mixologist against the bartender at Gotham any day - these drinks were sophisticated and delicious. And the glassware- perfect. Our dinner was divine and made the evening’s celebration perfect. Can easily see this will be a new meet up spot and go-to dinner location.
Everything from the service to the drink and food was excellent. The presentation and the flavor of the dishes were unbelievable. I really enjoyed the dining experience and definitely coming back soon.
We were so excited that Gotham had reopened so when it came to choosing a place for our Thanksgiving dinner, the choice was clear. Sadly, the team was not ready for such an enthusiastic response to reservation avails. While the food was excellent, the service suffered seriously lapses. Items were forgotten or presented in awkward order. Our wine was opened not at our table, but elsewhere and immediately poured without the benefit of us tasting it (fortunately, it was very good). When the GM came over to apologize for the lack of synchronization, he actually said “the kitchen staff sucks.” We were appalled. Restaurants rely on their kitchen and wait staff and for this GM to throw part of his team under the bus…on Thanksgiving no less….was a complete affront to our sensibilities. Fortunately, our entrees arrived shortly thereafter and the turkey dinner was delicious. There was a subsequent misunderstanding re a second helping of wine, for which we were not charged, which was greatly appreciated. Upon asking for our check, we were presented only the signature slip and had to ask for itemized bill to ensure we were being correctly charged. When the itemized bill was finally presented, it was a crumpled mess.
We SO wanted this to be a grand comeback for this beloved east Village spot but we were sadly disappointed with service and management BUT the food was spectacular!
We are so happy Gotham has reopened. They have all new young people on the floor, they just need more training and tweaking. Service was not as it was (but was is?). I hope to continue coming back for another meal !
Thanksgiving day experience. The food was excellent and so was the restaurant.
Very comfortable and welcoming. Wonderful good and service. My new favorite restaurant!
The food, service and atmosphere was excellent. So happy to see this restaurant back and thriving! A special shout out to Joseph the Maitre D one of the best in the biz!
Fabulous food in relaxed atmosphere! As good or better than the original Gotham Bar & Grill.
So glad this latest iteration succeeds.
Great food and drink
Service fine (Thomas et alia)
Nice Brazilian music
Room is a little austere but...
One of the best restaurants I’ve been to in New York! Amazing food & wonderful service!
Revisited the location of our first date and it did not disappoint. Superb salad and fish served by knowledgeable and charming staff. Very special!
El servicio muy lento y descuidado
It’s nice to have this gem back! The food was superb and the service was outstanding. The apple tartin dessert was amazing. Can’t wait to go back.
Nice place, a bit noisy, good food, bad service (the sommeiller poured the bottom of the wine into my glass, he can't do his job)
Plates are like artwork, and they are delicious. A rare combination. Service was perhaps a little TOO good, as we were approached multiple times to check in on our meal. That being said, we were there a long time. I hadn't seen my friend since before the pandemic, so we had a lot to catch up on! Overall, I'm thrilled Gotham is back and I believe it's better than ever!!!
Loved the dinner.. cocktails were excellent as was the food.. everything served perfectly.. so nice to have this wonderful place back but with its updated personality. A true New York gem is sparkling once again.
It was so nice to be back at Gotham again, but there are some kinks to work out. It took close to 40 minutes to get our drinks, which arrived seconds before our appetizers, and our coffee, which we ordered when we placed our dessert order, arrived 20 minutes after the dessert. The food was good, but not great. The sweetbreads were kind of rubbery and under seasoned. The halibut was good, but the sauce was strange. The pork belly was delicious, as was the lamb. The salad was overdressed. I know they have just opened and I am hopeful that they will hit a better stride once they get into a rhythm, but at $160 per person (which was our total), the food needs to be uniformly great and the service needs to be much, much better.
Food was outstanding even by upscale NYC standards. Staff was great. Excellent experience.
First of all, I’m a big fan of the old Gotham and I really root for the new incarnation to be successful and get the place in the New York dining scene it deserves. This is its second week and I have full appreciation how difficult it is to run a restaurant in the post pandemic environment. So hopefully Gotham will grow and iron out it kinks. It starts with presentation and flavor building. The tuna tartar appetizer looks now like a raw burger and was over salted. The lamb was good but not memorable and over salted. Service was excellent and the citrus desert delightful. I welcome that Gotham tries to find its own new way and has , with some work , enormous potential with its beautiful dining room and a solid foundation. Please rethink the art though. Gotham, I root for you and see you soon !
Perfect place for dinner. Food, service, vibe everything was good.
So great to have Gotham, my neighborhood splurge place, back in business. Decor has been brightened up and quality of the food remains high. It will certainly be the scene of many special occasions to come.
Having just opened this week, we expected that there would be a few bumps in the experience now that Gotham has been resurrected, after being closed for eighteen months. The service was very courteous if a little confusing, in that the server who introduced themselves to us first wound up only talking to us once or twice and not taking our order or anything. However, everyone was lovely.
We enjoyed our appetizers of mixed green salad, which was very generous and delicious, and paté de campagne. Our entrées were both fish, char and halibut, and we found them delicious. We were disappointed in the selection of desserts, in that there were no pastries, just vegan cheesecake, or fruit and ice cream dishes, or a cheese plate.
I know that Gotham will rise to its former glory as one of the top destinations in the city. Having lived down the block for the past 25 years, we are thrilled to have them back as a neighbor.
Everything was just blah. service was slow, took forever to get first drink and order. dinner was mediocre at best. our servers got switched midway through. ambiance was curious to put it nicely. it was my wife’s 40th and was really disappointed. the whole experience felt very dated.
Took over an hour and a half for entrees to arrive. When they did arrive, it was not what we ordered. This is NOT the same Gotham of the past. Stay away.
So happy to have this splendid restaurant back in the neighborhood! Generous pours on the wine and exceptional food all around. Gotham covers all your desires in ambiance too-lively, lovely and yet comfortable.
The return of Gotham was even better than we expected. From the familiar faces, Decor to the new and improved menu we couldn't have been more delighted. The man in course of steak and lamb did not disappoint both cooked to perfection! The warm apple tart for two was crisp and delicious.
To have Gotham back!!
Definitely have some kinks to work out after re-opening fish was dry took an hour to get our main courses very light on the pour her glass of wine and staff were still in training
We had a great time. Great service and delicious food. I was very impressed. The dessert offerings were not inticing but the coffee was suberb!
Welcome back to a superb restaurant! We enjoyed 2 delicious appetizers, foie gras mousse and cavatelli with mushrooms. We both ordered the lamb main course which was perfectly cooked and outstanding! Lastly we shared a dessert called coffee and chocolate. It had chocolate mousse accompanied by white russian ice cream. Simply delish! Can’t wait to go back!
The reopened Gotham is absolutely amazing - light, spacious, open, and cozy and tasty!
For such a new, post covid restaurant The Gotham is already showing signs of being a mature, seasoned restaurant. Great staff and delicious meal.
Green shoots but lots of watering and pruning ahead if they want to get back to their prior reputation for stellar service, food and ambiance.
Opening night so patience is a must! One in our party was late and they were very gracious even though we sat 1/2 hour after our reservation time. Menu was perfect, around 6 or seven choices each for starter and main dish. Each choice unique, simple, interesting without being overly contrived - the food was fantastic!!! Wine list by the bottle needs to have more reasonably priced options, at least a few @ $100 in each category. The one issue was our waiter, dinner service took almost 3 hours!!!! We could never get his attention and we waited forever between courses. Again, opening night but if they don’t fix that part quickly, even the best food won’t be worth that wait. Check was as expected. Deserts are a must have!
