Gordon Biersch Brewery Restaurant - San Diego Ratings and Reviews
We had a reservation for 7 o’clock. When we walked in the door and talked to the hostesses, they told us it would be half an hour wait or we could go sit in the bar. They were kind of rude and put me off right away. Then we found a place in the bar and were looking at the menu, the hostesses came and got us and said they have a table ready for us. It was the smallest out-of-the-way table they could possibly find. Once we were seated, everything went fine. The food is average, the prices are slightly high, and I would rather go to The yard house.
Checking in was a hassle- the hostess was flustered by our reservation. The banquet prices are too expensive and they take longer than 24 hours to respond. The service was okay for our party size but it did seem chaotic. Overall the food was good but the steak was fatty.
The food served at this restaurant was among the worst I have experienced. The exception was the warmed pretzel and bratwurst appetizer. They must not cook anything and just warm up prepackaged items...didn’t even do that well or consisistantly as some was cold, some items were warm and but one item was hot on entrees received by the for of us. This was not a good experience
Good food, great prices especially the Sunday happy hour menu. The server was slow and we had to flag her down a lot. a word to the wise- words you never want to hear from your server when you say you haven't seen her in a while-----"I've been busy!!"
But the beer and the cocktails were great also!
The staff was very pleasant. Upon being seated, we waited for service about ten minutes then I had to flag down another server and waited another five minutes before she waited on us. Then another 10 minutes before we got drinks. After that, server was very responsive.
I do not know if I will ever dine at this restaurant again. One time I went and the restroom was filthy; not just one stall but the entire restroom. It was disgusting. Worse than you would expect at a gas station restaurant. To make things worse, when I brought it to the hostess' attention, she just shrugged it off.
Recently I went to the restaurant again and both of my side dishes were cold. The prices are reasonable but still not cheap. Hot food should not be that difficult to provide.
We arrived at 5:30 per our reservation. We were seated in 5 minutes, and were waited on in another 5 minutes and ordered water and a beer. The drinks arrived in about 5 minutes. It went downhill from there. I think the waitress got lost, and we finally got to place our order after 15-20 minutes. We got our meals about 10-15 minutes later.
My personal lunch was good .The group I was with had issues with their meals (incorrect order, taste issues) Server needed help with large group .One person in group ordered clam chowder soup and we were then told when lunch was delivered is that we have no soup today ...few minutes later he returned with clam chowder??!! Not the best experience. We were celebrating a college graduation and it was not recognized although when reserved it was asked if something was being celebrated
Went for a late night dinner & drinks with friends from out of town. The food was decent and our server was really nice, but the wait times were ridiculous. It took about 25 minutes for everyone at our table of 5 to get drinks...and each refill took over 10 minutes. The restaurant was not understaffed, but there seemed to be a good amount of hanging out and chit chatting among the servers and bartenders - definitely would not recommend unless you are looking for a long, uninterrupted date night.
I ordered the Ribeye with Gorgonzola Butter. While the steak was on the “Thin” side, it was cooked just as I ordered & it was delicious. The only Mishap was our salads arrived at same time as our Entree. Not a huge deal to me, but would have preferred to enjoy my salad before my dinner arrived. Will definitely go back!
I made a reservation for a birthday party. We never had any mention of it during out trip. We also never received some requested extra sauces and drink refills because their kitchen was behind. It took an hour to get our food out. This was not the best experience and my bosses were not happy with me. I will say that our server was really great and this is not usually our experience.
Usually, very happy with this restaurant. Arrived and seated immediately in the bar. Server took our drink order and then our food order (appetizer and fries) when he delivered drinks. 45 minutes later, he returned to say the kitchen had run out of shaved beef for our sliders and had just gotten more. Our food would be out in a few minutes. 15 minutes later, still no food. A few minutes later, food arrived- cold and not what we ordered ( wanted fries with no garlic; got garlic.) Very disappointed with both food and service.
Unfortunately this place is not as good as I remember. Waiter took drink orders and never returned. Another waitress rescued us and was good after that. Took forever to get a drink though. Ordered the Ahi rare and it came medium well and dried up, basically ruined. Looked like it had been sitting a while before served. Will not return in a hurry. They also need to seriously update their beers for San Diego. Their session IPA is good but doesn't cut it compared to other craft Brewers.
It was hot that day but the air in the restaurant was not on to it's full potential. We asked several times to turn it up but no change came. We were there for 3 hours and it was hot when we walked in and hot when we left. Either fix the air or tell folks when they come in that it will be uncomfortable.
