Gordon Biersch Brewery Restaurant - Rockville
Ahi tuna was not fresh. I had ahi tuna at this restaurant before, which was much better. However, the tuna this time was suboptimal. Tasted too fishy.
Really enjoyed the food, and the beer we had was great too. Excellent service as well, I would recommend.
Indoors is very noisy but we ate outdoors. Not enough plain healthy food on menu.
Wonderful atmosphere and great food!!
This was a really disappointing outing. We had a reservation but ended up at a booth in the back corner. In spite of what seemed like a fairly moderate crowd, our service was very slow. Our server was apologetic, but our appetizer never arrived and our beers--it is a "brewery restaurant"--were slow to arrive and when we finally we asked if we wanted another round, that round came after we were all but done with our meal. We've been going for years and this visit was a real low; not sure I'll return any time soon.
I had to send my steak back; came well done but I ordered it medium rare. First time was like Waffle House; second time was like Morton’s. Asked for hot vegetables with the second steak but they never came. Asked for an empty dinner size plate and that never came.
Great place to have a dinner/drink. Sat outside on a perfect night.
We go to the Rockville restaurant often. This last time, however, was poor. They must have been training the new crop of school kids for waiters. Very poor service. Did not know how to serve hot tea. Did not know how to carry a drink tray. Could not remember the order, but did not write it down. No water when requested - no lemon either. Served entrees without noticing neither of us had anything left to drink (after tea and my husband's beer were finished). Did not bring catsup with the burger/fries. The sugar packets for my tea were *wet* (no honey available). Had to ask for a teaspoon for my tea, then he brought a large tablespoon. He gingerly carried a single cup of hot (tepid) water to my table for tea (no teapot, no tray, just a cup in his hand). Get the idea?
Gordon Biersch is an excellent restaurant if you like beer. There are so many different beers to choose from. The food is well prepared with a broad selection. Service is friendly and on warm days it is fun to sit outside and enjoy a beer and/or your dining choice. The bar area can be termed a "sports bar" since there are several big-screen TV's carrying all the sports networks.
I’ve been to this chain before and was happy with this location as well. Food was good and the portions are generous. Service was attentive, but not clingy. The beers were delicious and well priced. If you want a “safe” place to eat but want to avoid the usual chains, this is a safe bet! Also, they validate your parking! 🙌🏻
Our server provided us excellent customer service. She was very attentive and friendly. Food was ok.
My family and I come here on a pretty regular basis and the visit on Mother’s Day was not the best. It wasn’t horrible but it definitely wasn’t our best visit. The food was mediocre and the service was at a minimum. It wasn’t very busy but our server was barely attentive and it took quite a while to get greeted even though she was cleaning off the table directly behind us. Our drinks took about 5 minutes as well, our server looked in our direction and appeared to remember we had ordered drinks. She eventually got them and brought them to the table but it was about 10 minutes between the time we sat down and received the drinks, which was just water. Sadly the artichoke dip tasted more like cream cheese than anything else. My kids enjoyed their food but mine was disappointing. I’ve had the chicken and mushroom pasta almost every previous visit but for some reason it lacked taste this time. We had dessert which was probably the best part of the meal. Not sure why things were off this visit but hopefully it was just a one time thing.
The last 2 times I've been there the food has been disappointing. I like the atmosphere and beer but the food will prevent me from returning unfortunately.
Service (waiter) was great but that’s about the only positive thing
Busy and understaffed and the kitchen made several mistakes. Ordered a pasta dish and asked for no onions, ordered a chicken sandwich and asked for avocado mayo on the side. Pasta came with onions and they took it back to remake, asked for the avocado mayo and that took almost 15 minutes to secure and by then the sandwich was cold. Pasta arrived after 25 minutes and it had onions again. Wait staff was pleasant but over worked. We stopped for food on the way home.
The food we did get correct was great and the beers were wonderful. Torn about returning
Very good experience, delicious salad, and people working there are so nice and smiling!
Server forgot to bring one of us their drink.
Server argued with us when the spicy chicken tacos were ice cold
My short ribs were luke warm.
My son’s gluten free taco came out differently than we requested (we said yes to blue corn tortillas and they served lettuce wraps. Had to wait 10 minutes before his order came back out.
Server returned the cold chicken tacos to the one who complained about them being ice cold saying the condiments cooled it down. Took it away a second time and brought back lukewarm chicken with condiments on the side. Took another 10 minutes.
Server said she validated our parking. She did not.
Awful experience my first time at this restaurant on the first night I moved to MD.
Explained at front desk. Compassion but no action.
Worst dining experience in years. Leaving this review on Yelp soon.
Service is good, food tasted good. We are happy 😃
While normally we love Gordon Biersch, the service was horrible; the Cajun Pasta which is normally absolutely delicious was... mediocre at best. The chicken in it was burnt and crunched and while normally identifiable, was in cubes about 1/4 inch! The shrimp needed another minute or two of cooking and well... the portion seemed smaller. The burnt crunchy chicken just basically ruined it and then I found a a piece of chicken bone... The manager did give us a few dollars off but never came to our table. So much for being a GB Passport/Rewards Member!
Food, service, and beer were all excellent. I particularly loved the hefeweizen. It was fresh, creamy, and refreshing with the perfect balance of banana and clove.
Always a great place for good beer and friendly service.
The kitchen is slow. The couple sitting behind us got their meal on the house because they waited so long. We waited about 40 minutes for our food to arrive from the time we placed our order. Otherwise, we enjoyed our meal.
We were a return group of 10 ladies from a retirement community by popular demand. We were delighted with this second visit. We had a table in a small room all to ourselves; the noise was our own conversation and laughter! The service was friendly and helpful. When we left several ladies hoped we would return in a week. We’ll certainly be back — but maybe not in a week... Thanks for a wonderful experience!
Beer I had was flat. Was not good. Usually its great.
The waiter's response to a menu item inquiry was a bit surprising and not what the owners would want to hear. My wife never received a portion of her meal. The apology was lackluster.
Wonderful food and service. Celebrated a BD there and it couldn’t have been better.
Nothing exciting about GB they have reduced portion sizes across the board and the value is less than it was. Quality of food is okay they try to be more than bar food but they aren’t.
We enjoy Gordon Biersch! We had two excellent meals. My husband had ahi tuna, beans & fruit. I had a steak salad with a cup of delicious potato soup. Everything was very tasty, perfectly cooked & well served. The iced tea is great & always fresh. The price is also very reasonable & we get 2 hours free parking!
The waitress was terrible she made no suggestions as to specials.Never asked but had to be flagged down for refills . Never asked how our meals were our steaks were not done properly the medium steaks were very rare the well done steak was very red and had to be returned. There was no galic cheese sauce we had to ask for it.The drinks were wrong the long island ice tea was colored like lemon-aid and tasted like a glass of sour mix only we returned it the waitress came back and said the bartender said there was nothing wrong with it but this time it was dark and tasted like it should. The beer wasnt the size that we ordered. I don't know why we were billed for a Makers Mark my wife had a wiskey sour do they use top shelf bourbon in a wiskey sour without being requested. The waitress never asked if we wanted dessert she just brought out the check. There was no one at the front to validate our parking. This wasnt what i have come to expect
Great prices and stellar service. Something good for everyone!
We needed a place that would accommodate a table of 6 including a noisy toddler. This place was perfect for that mainly because it's big and loud. Beer was good but food wasn't. Overall it fit what we needed that night but probably won't be back as a smaller party.
The waitress was fabulous! She was patient, friendly, and overall did a great job. The chicken wings for six, as ordered, were inaccurate plus wrong selection.
The biggest disappointments were the drinks and coffee- drinks were small, overloaded with ice, and could not detect gin. Coffee just plain horrible. The waitress made us all overlook the deficiencies of the dining experience.
The dinner menu has a broad selection meaning we can find something interesting and different every time we go. We had the boneless wings, fish tacos, ham and gruyere "flatbread" (although it looked more like a quesadilla), chicken and mushroom pasta, and the chicken BLT was "SO GOOD." The dining room behind the bar was not packed on a Friday night - of course, it was raining which put a damper on getting out. In the past I worried about getting a reservation here, but we had no trouble in getting one almost last minute. Highly recommend it.
Food was very disappointing. Chicken breast tasted as if it had been left to brine for a couple of days and the texture of the meat was unusual.
I have been to several GB locations and this one is by far the most comfortable! Even though this location is a thirty minute drive, I will make this my preferred GB location!
I had a very good overall experience. My waiter was great and the food was awesome. I’ll definitely be coming back sooner than later.
Picked to come here based on their Valentines Day menu presentation in an e-mail to their loyalty card members. They made it look like a prix fixe meal but it was not. Really no special combination available although they certainly wanted you to think there was. The food we did have was good and we had excellent service. They should just hold back on the sleight of hand next year or for any special event day.
Only for happy hour, regular menu changed (not for the better) :-(
We always love dining at the Gordon Biersch Brewery Restaurant.
All dishes quite good, nice quantity, good service.
