Gordon Biersch Brewery Restaurant - Plano Ratings and Reviews
Great happy hour here for both drinks & food. We absolutely love the French dip sliders. My daughter's favorite dish is the boneless wings platter. They switch the beer they brew seasonally. Currently there is a coconut porter that is ok, but not as good as the macadamia one.
I've loved Gordon Biersch in the past, but I was very underwhelmed with the food. My husband and I both got burgers, both were just ok. He got a kale and quinoa salad as his side and it wasn't even dressed or anything, just flavorless. We also got the asian chicken bits for the appetizer and they were not worth the price. Just fried chicken covered in sauce, nothing special. I go their famous garlic parmesan fries, they were the shining star because of their flavor but also because of they're bottomless!
It took pretty long for our waiter to come to our table when we sat down and then after we ordered our drinks, which were just 2 waters, it took at least 10 minutes to receive them even though we could see him walking around the entire time and not really doing much. And i alsoo took a while for the refill as well, he came to my a few times while my cup was empty and before I got a chance to ask for more water, he already walked away, even though he probably should've noticed it himself.
Overall it was an OK meal, just thought it should be better based on preivous experience, the current reviews, and the nice area it is in.
My friends first time loved it and they are picky too. My husband and I really love it. Drinks food staff. 5 stars. A lot of our friends have never heard of it. We brag about the restaurant a lot so hoping word of mouth brings more patrons. We want GB around for years to come.
GB is consistently "okay." We've never had a bad meal, we've never had a great meal either. We keep returning because their beer is very good and service is normally very friendly. But if you are looking for great food, keep walking.
On this visit the waitress was very good, very friendly. We shared salmon, brat sliders, and drinks. The salmon was ordinary and the sliders were fine. We wouldn't order either again. Beer was great as always.
The only thing we've ever eaten here that was bad is their lobster mac and cheese. every waiter recommends it, but it really is the worst thing on the menu. It's not even mac/cheese... it pasta with a greasy faintly cheese flavored sauce and the lobster is either not fresh or imitation.
They had our table ready before we arrived, which was really nice. The service was amazing, our server was very personable, helpful, accommodating, and attentive without being intrusive. The food was good, everyone liked what they ordered. There are not too many healthy choices, however. Those at our table who liked beer were really happy with the beer choices.
First, the wait staff was great - friendly and attentive. We got special treatment from the manager and will definitely go back. The food was a nice surprise. The appetizer great and while I expected Good on the beer and OK on the Fish and Chips, I got "Great" on both. a nice surprise. Oh yeah, they pointed out that special requests on a menu item was welcome.
We took our daughter and her family here on their recent trip to Texas. First time having cheese curds and they were a hit at the table. We did have a hiccup with the cooking temp of a burger but the way the staff handled the situation was on point! More restaurants should take a lesson from them.
Overall, disappointing and we most likely will not be back. Beer was fine. Service was adequate but nothing special. The food was not even average. Very poor and disappointing. Salmon tasted like it had been frozen an extended period of time. Chicken was bad.
I have had better service with a small group. Made a reservation for 8, and when I told them we would be at the bar waiting for the rest of our party they thought I meant we were staying in the bar. After we all arrived I let them know we were ready for our table. Ended up in a random corner and I think our server kept forgetting about us. May not go with more than 4 people again.
Know that you are going to a brewery and what that entails. Casual is definitely the scene. My wife loved it while I thought it was okay. My boss LOVES this place. I appreciate Open Table for having his restaurant on the list and it was worth trying. I look forward to sampling more.
I can say that one of the Assistant Managers was great checking up as our server was new. Love when management gets involved. Open kitchen was nice as well.
Service was terrible. We did not get some things we ordered and we finally gave up and cancelled the items.
They were obviously overwhelmed. Three different people came to our table to help and we were never sure who our waitress/waiter was. We will not be returning
Typically this is a good restaurant - just NOT yesterday. The service was terrible as there was some internal issue about which server would handle our table. Our original server was put on "cleaning duty" (whatever that means) then we were told he was let go, then the manager came by to tell us everything was ok. Then a different server came by and took over. Because we sat outside on a Sunday night, they forgot about us -- eventually we were thinking our meal was free because it looked like they were closing and did not come back by us. Ultimately, the new server came out and said he did apologize but thought the original person was back --- ????
Thank goodness this was not my First experience, but it was for the friends I was with. My salad was a little off, but the French Dip sliders were good. We shared the crab dip and sliders with the group and everyone seemed to like their food & drinks. It took about an hour longer than it should have though!
