Gordon Biersch Brewery Restaurant - Navy Yard Ratings and Reviews
The heat was not working when we arrived for our reservation and they sat us near a window. My friend didn't mind it but I did. We had to dine with our coats on. Even the waitstaff worked in their coats. This soiled my experience. I have visited other Gordon B. locations and will continue to patronize them. However, please either fix the heat or offer complimentary tea and coffee; we are approaching winter!
Went on a Tuesday night and there was a very large party occupying two tables. After about 40 minutes we inquired about the status of our order. We were told that our food would be ready after they finished cooking for and serving the two large tables. So it took almost an hour to get our food. The food itself was nothing special.
I recently dined at Gordon Biersch Brewery Restaurant - Navy Yard and could not have been happier with the service and food. The server provided exceptional assistance, in that she was attentive, witty, personable, and accurately recorded my requests. I’ve never had better service while dining at any Gordon Biersch location. The food was definitely on point for the first time ever, and the kitchen staff gave me exactly what I wanted with great flavor. I was truly happy to have dined out.
Went to GB for dinner before a baseball game. Fist, the A/C apparently had been out for days, and it was like a sauna. Second, the staff seemed unaware that there was a ballgame and, hence, that they would be inundated with customers. It took an hour to be served. Apologies from the waitress and manager did little to rectify the problem.
Convenient location near the Nationals ballpark and a Metro stop. We arrived about 20 minutes before our reservation and where greeted and seated immediately. It was immediately following a baseball game and the restaurant quickly filled up but they seemed to handle it quite easily. Everything we ordered was very good. I really liked the crab artichoke dip appetizer.
The food was great! I had the pineapple & mango margarita which was delicious! The wings were very favorful and we loved the coconut shrimp! It was busy so our waitress did take a little longer between courses. Also this place is very loud but if you don't mind that it is great place to go.
Although we made a reservation through Open Table, when our party of 10 arrived, the restaurant told us they do not take reservations on game days. We therefore waited until a table became available.
Our group was attending the baseball game after our meal and as we were late sitting down, we asked if they could help us get out by 7pm. It took 50 minutes until our food arrived and the server did not check back once during this time to get refills. I asked for the check as soon as the food arrived and our group rushed to eat and depart for the game.
Overall I understand they were busy in advance of a game, however they should not accept reservations if they cannot honor them.
I frequent Gordon Biersch restaurants, usually before a game or entertainment event at the Verizon Center or Nationals Park restaurants. I am a loyal Passport Rewards participant. I have seen these restaurants get mobbed with customers because of these games and events, sometimes coupled with inclement weather that delays the game or event. I have never experienced such mismanagement of reservations and table occupancy as I did on Friday, July 14th, at Gordon Biersch Navy Yard. We had a 5:45 pm reservation. We were there are time. We had to wait 45 minutes for our table. There was a bad thunderstorm and thus a delay of the concert at Nationals Park, but the managers were not at all effective in getting people, who had obviously been seated for quite some time and who had finished their meals, to pay their checks and vacate their tables to allow table turnover. Moreover, at times there was up to five tables that were cleaned and ready for seating, yet for some strange reason the hosts (which included one of the managers) did not move people into those tables quickly.
The good news is that once we did get seated, our server was fantastic, and the food was very good.
Insult to injury - an hour after we departed (and were at the concert) I got an email stating I was a no-show for my OpenTable reservation. That was quickly resolved.
Stopped here for a quick bite before heading to Nats Stadium to enjoy James Taylor. Service was very good and I do appreciate that they are ahead of mandate to list calories on the menu. The calories for each dish is clearly listed as well as the dishes that are vegetarian. Thank you! The food as good but the beer was excellent!
They could not find the reservation that I had made on line. My friend was already sitting at the table that was put in my name, since my reservation could not be found and the place was so loud and crowded I could not find my friend and she couldn't see me. So, I left after over an hour of wondering around looking for where she might be sitting, wondering around in shoulder to shoulder crowds of people that is. I understand that the place was packed on this past Friday for the James Taylor concert (we were going there also), but it was ridiculous. It was complete pandemonium! You could not hear yourself think let alone talk to anyone, the people at the reception desk taking looking for and taking reservations seemed to be completely overwhelmed, so was I. I never did find my friend, she went ahead to the concert, and I went home because I was so fed up from the experience.
Arrived early prior to concert at Nationals Park. Seated immediately while we waited for other party. Seemingly overlooked as no one came to take drink order for a long while. Another served stepped in and did a great job. Food and drinks very good and we were not rushed even though place was packed with many waiting. Perfect prior to special events at stadium or Nats game. Good parking nearby.
Our group went to this restaurant before a concert at Nationals Park. The place was packed and there was a long line. Luckily we had made a reservation through Open Table. The service was good considering the crowd. The food was OK, but not as good as on past visits -- it seemed to suffer from the heavy demand on the kitchen. The lamb was way overdone, and the chicken greasy. The beer was good as it has been before, on quieter days, but the food took a hit.
Went for lunch before the Nats game. GB always has great beer. The fish and chips are tasty and you can't go wrong with the garlic fries! We had a little mishap on an omelette order, but the attentiveness of our waitress and the manager was beyond impressive and very much appreciated. Lovely place and very well managed restaurant. We'll be back to enjoy again soon!
Planned on having dinner before the Nationals game. Arrived in time for our reservation only to find out that the restaurant does not accept Open Table reservations on game day. This is not the fault of the restaurant, as it's not posted on the reservations screen that pops up on Open Table. We were prioritized and were seated as soon as possible, which was a concern as the place was packed on July 3rd before a fireworks game. Might not be so lucky next time, so something to keep in mind.
Stopped in before a Nationals game and though it was super busy the waitress was attentive, made good beer suggestions and tried to track down calorie counts for the specials. The food was excellent! The beer was also great. I loved being able to sample a beer flavor before getting a whole glass of unknown beer. Will go back.
