Gordon Biersch Brewery Restaurant - DC Ratings and Reviews
When we arrived for our reservation, the people in front of us were telling the hostess how they had such a nice time the night before, they wanted to come again. You’d think the hostess would have smiled. Instead, she explained that she really shouldn’t seat them, it was Sunday at 8 pm...if they wanted to eat, they had to seat themselves in the bar. The hostess was just as welcoming to us. Our waiter showed up after 10 minutes and took out drink order. No smiles or friendliness. I do think he tried his best. No one there seemed in a goid mood, we were wondering if they had all gotten bad news. Bad experience. Won’t go back or recommend.
We waited quite a bit before our server approached the table. When she did come to the table she was very uninterested in waiting on us or giving us any kind of service. I wondered if we could have requested a different server without worrying if she would spit in our food. The food was OK at best. We were very disappointed.
Always a pleasant place, especially before Caps games. I ordered the salmon--but because of a diet I was on, I wanted it broiled instead of grilled. No problem. And it came out beautifully--probably the best piece of salmon I have ever had. It was delicious. I also ordered sliced tomatoes instead of the normal side veggies. Also no problem. They were very accommodating.
Took my son for lunch before a Caps game for his 20th birthday. We both had excellent food, and our waitress was great. My only "complaint" is that my feet didn't touch the floor when sitting in the booth (and I'm not short)! More funny than anything else...
The service was very poor. Took forever to get drinks. Took forever to get food. Took forever for everything. Wait staff repeatedly forgot about us it seems. This was not a subjective sense of waiting -- lots of apologies from waiter. Just not an experience we'd want to repeat.
We told the waiter when we walked in that we had a little under an hour to get to a show at Ford’s Theater. He was very pleasant throughout our time there but most things arrived slow, and he frequently forgot on the first request. The food arrived late and cold, which generally means that it’s the waiter’s fault. (If it’s late but hot the delay was in the kitchen.) My burger bun was soggy by the time it arrived. If we hadn’t been in a hurry to make the show I would have taken this up with a manager.
Made reservations for dinner before a CAPS game. The service was good, for a busy night. The menu looks great, but the food we both ordered was only ok. The Ahi Tuna nachos are mostly just chips. The chicken sandwich and the fish sandwich was ok, not bad, but nothing to get excited about. Basic bar food I'd say. The prices were good though and the wait staff was friendly.
Probably the thousandth time I've eaten at this Gordon Biersch in the past ten years. This time I didn't realize until I got home that they put the wrong beer in our growlers, and charged us for them incorrectly. I think the server is still learning the ropes.
We had a very large party (20) of parents and children that Gordon Biersch was able to accommodate beautifully between two tables adjacent to each other. The two waitresses worked together to make sure parents and kids were 'paired up' - even at the two separate tables! Very impressed on how well both worked together, and the waitress who worked with our kids was even so fantastic that she always checked to ensure what kids were asking for was OK with the parent. Great experience! Been here a number of times with just my family, but will continue to come based on this experience.
We have eaten at several GB restaurants & the DC one many times, but this time the service was terrible!! Our waiter Gary, who said he has been there 2 months, needs additional training. It took him 20 minutes to get our drinks & blamed the bartender when it was really his fault. Gary was busy running around. The bartender was not that busy, we know because our booth was nearby. We ordered beer, wine, sodas & 1 mixed drink. Now it should not take 20 minutes to pour a glass of wine & 2 beers, 2 sodas & 1 mixed drink. The food was fine! The restaurant was “not crowded” which was quite surprising since it is usually packed. For a $134.00 lunch it was very disappointing & we are not sure when or if we will return!! “Whatever they decide to do, please retrain Gary!”
Came in 15 minutes early, host told us to wait. At the designated reservation time, I went back to the host stand, found out that the host forgot about us, may have seated someone else under my reservation, and gave tables to two other groups that came in after us.
On 3 different occasions at 2 different locations I've ordered meals from this chain's menu only to be told that they don't have the listed items. Once I had to order 3 different dinners before I hit on something they actually had in stock. The waitress just kept coming back and apologizing (kudos to her) and asking me to try again. Last time they didn't have the chicken tenders from the kids menu, which is the only item my nephew likes. If you're going to list a kids menu item, you need to keep it stocked. Ever seen a hangry five year old wait patiently for food only to learn they aren't getting the chicken tenders they wanted?
I love this restaurant - the food is tasty and the apple bread pudding is life changingly good - but I hope they either modify their menu or keep better stock of items.
