When I read the bad reviews, I was apprehensive about going here and unfortunately, the reviews were right. The service was horrible, took an hour to get our food. We were trying to make a 7:30 show at Capital One arena and barely made it. Really unfortunate because it is a gorgeous restaurant and wonderful location.

The Best Salmon--Ever. Had the seasonal special, herb-crusted salmon. It was over the moon. Probably one of the best pieces of fish I've ever had. Just terrific--5 stars.

The menu has a variety of dishes that cover both German and American tastes. They food is very tasty and plentiful. Our waiter Garry was very personable, friendly, and unobtrusive. Will definitely visit this establishment again.

It was a busy time at Gordon Biersch's, as we were gathering just prior to the Capital's game. But we checked in without difficulty, were shown to our table, and enjoyed attentive service. The food was delicious, too. And the bill was delivered promptly, too.

The food was alright, but the service was absolutely horrible! We waited almost 30 minutes just to get service, and we had to find someone several times in order to get refills. I usually do not have a bad experience here, but tonight was the worst!!

A bad experience. Have come here many, many times--our "go to" spot before Caps games. But this was a clunker. We arrived and we're seated immediately. We ordered about 5 minutes later. 35 minutes later, we still did not have our entree. When it came, only one of us was served. I was not--and we ordered the same thing. We also had to ask in order to order a beer--and then had to remind our server if she had forgotten it. I was so upset I have written a letter to GB headquarters in Chattanooga, TN. This was a bad experience.

We decided to go here because of a variety on the menu for our 10 yr old son who was with us. Our waiter was very personable and nice - he tried his best! Unfortunately they were out of the pretzel appetizer and sweet potato fries - which seemed odd for a Saturday! We were disappointed for sure. My son’s burger came wrong so it went back and he got it right 10 minutes later. Not bad but could have been better!

I’m not sure where to begin. I don’t understand how this restaurant has four stars. We arrived, were seated and ordered drinks. That’s it! Got drinks and ordered apps and entrees. An hour later our entrees came. No apps, no silverware. The food runners were so rude. Um, excuse me. We are paying. The runner was full of attitude talking back and basically saying just take what we are giving you! The apps came after entree. The food was cold or over cooked. Obviously sitting for a while. The wings came with no sauce on them! The bruschetta chicken disgusting! My pasta was so over cooked, inedible. Chicken soup cold. We left!!! The manager still made us pay for our drinks. We paid for rude service! Folks , our family has very good manners. We were not rude. We basically paid for bad rude service. Not sure how this restaurant has good reviews. Must be bar customers

I want to love this place. It’s a great location and I usually enjoy the food. The women at the host stand are super friendly.

The table service? If you can find a server once you’re seated....it’s indifferent. We waited almost 15 minutes for a server to actually acknowledge the fact that we were there...and once he did...he simply asked if we were ready to order. No greeting. Nothing. I want to chalk it up to it being busy for Black Friday, but it’s been like that every single time I’ve dined here.

This was a black friday dinner, and the place was PACKED from the growler deal they were running. I've been going to Biersch for 7 or 8 years now, and it might be the most crowded I've ever seen it. Despite that, we were seated rapidly, had a wonderful server, and the only letdown was that the burgers were a little overcooked - which I am chalking up to the massive onslaught of diners. Beer was great, though!

Service was very slow. They did send me a larger beer at one point, because it took over 15 minutes to come out to me. Waitress would disappear for long periods of time. Probably took 20 minutes for her to come back for my credit card when I placed it with the bill right away. Ordered two different single tacos (steak & fish) and a house salad. She could have warned me the tacos were 2 bites each, literally the smallest things I have ever eaten. So I sadly left hungry. My date had the "light" spicy chicken/lettuce tacos, which were larger and yummy, although very spicy if you can't handle too much heat.

My husband and I were on vacation in DC and had booked a table for supper before we attended a play at the Ford Theater. Carmen was our waitress and she was super. An appetizer is a must, the crab dip was delicious. My husband had a steak which was cooked the way he likes it and I had the bow tie pasta which was very good and very filling. Next time we are in Washington DC we will definitely eat here again.

Usually I love this restaurant, but on this occasion, the service was exceptionally poor. We arrived a few minutes early for a 6pm reservation and were told we would be seated within four minutes. However, they wanted to seat us in a booth with another party of two that we did not know. We thought this was strange, but agreed. After waiting for almost twenty minutes and watching at least a half dozen parties be seated that had entered after us (we had a reservation), we went to the desk and asked what was up. They then seated us immediately, and fortunately we did not have to share a table.

Our waiter brought us water and came back about ten minutes later to take our drink orders. We then did not see him for about 45 minutes. During which time, some other server brought our drinks and we had to grab the waiter from the tables adjacent to ours in order to get our food order in. The food and beer were great, and the guy that actually took our order was helpful. But we only saw our supposed server again when he brought us the check (and we had to flag him down, otherwise he would not have come over). We were going to the Capitals game, and ended up barely being on time, despite having a reservation for an hour and a half before the game started.

GB is a good brew pub chain. Much better than most chains (like BJ's). Service at this location was a little less attentive and slower than others I've been to, but it was super busy, so understandable. Very friendly staff overall. Food was good, as expected for GB. Pleasant experience. I'd go back.
Used Open Table for reservation and, even though it was busy and we arrived early, we were seated promptly.

We had a 5:30 reservation before a 7:00 puck drop at Capital One Arena. We were ready to order by 5:45 but the food didn't arrive until after 6:20. The fish tacos were delicious, the blackened fish sandwich was good, as was the grilled salmon. The first thing delivered was a cup, rather than bowl, of soup brought by a runner. Rather than sending it back he ate it. IT was a full 15 minutes before our server came with a bowl only to notice the cup. The explanation for the delay was that the kitchen was slammed. In truth, the restaurant was not full at all, at least by standards of the past. We finished and were out at 6:50 - a bit tight but we made it.

Our server checked on us 15 times. It was so overbearing. Then she didn’t know how to apply an open rewards credit, not my problem. My sirloin steak was not good, so she did give us a free dessert. However, I wouldn’t go back. Beers were all lukewarm, not cold.

Have eaten here many, many times--especially before Caps hockey games. But I have never had their pizza. Tried it this time and it was TERRIFIC. And the serving size was more than ample. I am usually a member of the Clean Plate Club but I just couldn't eat it all.

OUTSTANDING.

We hit this place for dinner before a Capitals game. It's 2 short blocks to the Cap One Center, so location was great. I got a reservation at the last minute and they were still able to seat us pretty quickly. They also got us in and out in about 45 minutes, despite the crowds, which was really appreciated because we were running late. Food was fine - nothing special but not bad either. I got a salad that came with a mix of romaine and spring greens. Everything was fresh but the toppings were a bit sparse. My husband got a margharita flatbread pizza that was good and ahi tuna nachos that were also good but had sparse toppings. Was more like fried chinese noodles with siracha mayo. Flavors were good but the description said it would have pineapple and scallions, which I didn't even notice were on the plate until we were 1/2-way through the pile of chips because there were so few and on the back of the plate.

Terrible experience on 10/7/17. Had a reservation 5:45. Arrived early and was seated after a few minutes. Down hill from there. Took forever for the server to even acknowledge us. Even longer for her to come back and take an order. Waited 15 minutes to get one of 2 drinks, and another 5 after I said something to get the other. The staff clearly did not have it together. You could hear them at the bar complaining and arguing about orders. Watched a couple at the table next to us get just as frustrated when they received the wrong check. After 45 min. I started asking for at least our salads. The response was that the servers were not allowed in the kitchen. With no food in sight I asked for a manager. One came over and he too really had no explanations other than to tell us the kitchen was 30 minutes behind. At this point I asked for the check. Another 10 minutes and a separate manager came over. Very nice and apologetic, but it was too late - and we still didn't have food. We left hungry and aggravated. Note: It was opening night for the Washington Capitols and it was crowded - just like it is for every Caps game. Nothing out of the ordinary, they just really dropped the ball.

This was my umpteenth visit to this particular location as we tend to go here prior to an event at the Verizon Center (Capital One Arena). We've never been disappointed. I have never made a reservation through Open Table, however, and this was nice and easy to do. Dinner for 6 people and we were seated immediately -- although the hostess desk was waayy backed up -- they should have had more than one person checking in. Waiter was nice although he failed to check on his several times as we would have ordered additional cocktails if he had done so. All food was great and served at the same time even though we had 6 separate orders. Overall, will continue to be my go-to place for events.
