Goode Co. Armadillo Palace
Book your next event with us
Jesse was a terrific waiter. He took great care of us!
We had the carnitas (actual half of pig head on a plate), redfish and tamales
The carnitas wasn’t a real big meal with a whole lot of edible meat on my opinion
The food was delicious and the beer was cold, but our waitress was sub par. Very inattentive and didn’t check on us much. We had to flag down other waiters to refill drinks and locate our waitress multiple times. We go to Goode Co Seafood on Westpark often and their staff is 5 star, we assumed this location would be too.
The food was amazing and the wait staff was super friendly
The food had to much rosemary and herbs. The service was very uncomfortable and seemed very rushed. Ambiance was nice, I was expecting a much better meal and excellent service but I was wrong
It's a cool restaurant. I love the Armadillo out front and my goal is to try all 5 Goode Co. restaurants. The food was good and it wasn't very busy the day we went, which was actually very nice.
Great atmosphere and great food. Will definitely be back.
Food is way overpriced and but very mediocre. Service was poor (always is). Atmosphere is great, but you can’t eat atmosphere. Too many choices around at better prices.
Disappointed.. !! the service was not up to par compared to two yrs plus ago after the change over. Staffs don’t know much about the food, menu, and the history of the place... Plus they need to bring back some of the items they were well known for ... & the loyal customers that 🥰😋 and coming back.. (chicken fried steak and chicken fried chicken...)
Wonderful service....great food!
Our table for 8 was ready for us however with 3 hostesses at the stand not one could greet or acknowledge us. Another large party had walked in ahead and was taking up space. Maybe make front area a bit larger or ask party to move aside to make room for other guests. Once we got seated, our server Trish made us feel like we were dining at her home. Everything was perfect from drinks to dinner items and all tasted delicious. We will be back for more...next time we are starting with dessert as we were too full from tamales, pork chops and gumbo to think about it.
Just ok. Like the venue, like the ambiance. Food was ok, nothing to brag about. Overall, I was just meh about the whole experience. I will give thumbs up to the venison chili. The guacamole was fair, the skirt steak was fair.
Phenomenal service paired with perfectly prepared food. From the bread basket to the seafood platter that was fried to perfection, every bite was better than the one before.
Completely enjoyed our dinner with friends. We tried guacamole and carnitas (half pig head) for appetizers. Those were a hit. For dinner had some carne asada, snapper and pork chops. Everyone thoroughly approved of all the entrees.
We’ve been several times and we’ve never been disappointed. We are huge fans of this restaurant. The food is incredible.
The food was okay. My friends really liked the taquitos and the pork dish they had. We had the same waitress we had once before and she is wonderful and very attentive. I don't remember her name. That made the night more enjoyable!
Had the grilled redfish which was excellent with side dishes of potatoes and brocolini.
Very nice. Will bring wife on next visit.
Great food and fun atmosphere. A little loud so sometimes hard to hear the waitress or people across the table. But overall my coworkers and I enjoyed our meal and will likely make this a regular stop when in Houston.
Bold, tasteful, melt in your mouth creations served in a picturesque setting in the heart of Texas.
The porterhouse was awesome. Worth $95. Service was excellent as well. Our server Candice was very helpful and attentive. I would highly recommend this place. Western wear would also be recommended.
Will be returning again many times. Nice place and they had great food
The food here is good but both times I've been it is very loud in the interior dining room. It was hard to have a conversation at my table of 4 because of the large table of 8-10 men next to us. There were plenty of open tables in another section of the restaurant and I wish they'd let us sit in a more secluded and quiet area.
Generally one of our favorite spots for a great experience but we were a bit let down during this visit. While our server was wonderful the wait time for drinks and food was crazy. The excuse given was because there were two events going on and they were just short staffed, the thing is is this a restaurant or an event venue? It certainly felt like the event venue portion was of more importance.
The margaritas were incredibly inconsistent in taste and were not the usual "Damn Goode Margarita's" we came for. You were completely out of your chocolate pie, this is your staple and have three sister restaurants in a 5 block radius, how are you all out!!
Management was accommodating in listening to our dissatisfaction, which was appreciated. But the wait times and beverage quality never improved. We also felt like we were being pushed out once we finished even though we were very much there on the patio to watch the Astros play off game. All in all an experience that will probably cause us to steer clear for awhile.
Seeded as sfyyybed
First time dining here. Was not impressed. Gumbo had a skin when served and had the texture of separated gravy. Margaritas were good.
Not a lot of variety on the menu. I don't eat steak or seafood so not many options. I opted for a chicken salad. The chicken was cold, shredded and not white meat. I didn't even eat half. My guests enjoyed their steaks.
I was very upset as I had colleagues from all over the world attending a conference in Houston where I made a reservation to Armadillo Palace on Thursday night, September 27, at 6:30pm. Upon arriving and valet parking I was told there was a private party and we were not allowed in the restaurant. We were told we could go across the street to Goode Company BBQ... this was NOT what I had in mind for my guest.
I asked my colleagues to take a seat at the BBQ restaurant and I walked back to Armadillo Palace and asked to speak to the manager. After a long wait someone came to the greet me and I explained my situation. She was very apologetic and told me we could go around the corner to the Seafood restaurant. I then said I would like some compensation. After another long wait she said we would get free appetizers.
The seafood restaurant was great and the hospitality was awesome... which made up for the inconvenience. But I am still angry that I was not notified and had to spend >30minutes making other arrangements. I had ligit reservations!!
Best pork chop EVER! Awesome empanadas. Great salads.
Server was very knowledgeable about the menu and made good recommendations. The Redfish, Carne Arsada, and burgers were all good. The chocolate pie could use more chocolate flavor. This place is great for hanging out and you can’t beat taking a selfie with a giant armadillo with longhorns.
Food was great very pricey.
Brought a friend from out of state to Armadillo's on Friday to give her a taste of Texas. We greatly enjoyed the food in the restaurant - and had a wonderful waitress. After dinner we decided to sit in the courtyard to listen to the live music happening in the bar area. Since I'm 7 months pregnant, we didn't want to be in too much of a crowd. We were enjoying a lovely conversation when one of the waitresses came to the table and somewhat rudely grabbed a box that had been left on the table and said -- "this is only for the special events guests." It was Texas praline cookies or something similar, and we had been admiring the packaging - not planning to take it! Two seconds later, another waiter came up to us and said we couldn't order drinks if we weren't with the party. Again, I am 7 months pregnant, we had just eaten a multi-course dinner at the restaurant and were not interested in consuming anything except the ambiance of the place. NOTE: This was around 9pm -- and whatever party had been in the courtyard had dissipated well before we arrived. It was a pretty unpleasant end to an otherwise enjoyable experience, and not the type of Texas hospitality I had hoped to showcase to my friend.
Better than he last 2 times we were there. This was going to be our last visit if had been like the previous 2 but they redeemed themselves. Used to be great. Now it’s just good
A little expensive but was good would go back though for sure!
We absolutely love all the changes they have made to the Armadillo Palace. We eat there on a regular basis. Love eating indoor and outdoor. The best tamales ever. Lots of fun. I will say last Saturday night the waiter could of used some help. He was working very hard but do to lack of more help he had to cover too big of an area. Not his fault.
Trish is the best server ever!
We came here as a small group (3 people) to try out the menu during Houston Restaurant Weeks. The space was beautiful and had the venue had complimentary valet parking. There was plenty of indoor and outdoor seating available. The hostesses were sweet and helpful. The main menu seemed a bit overpriced, but with the restaurant week special we were able to try out a few items we wouldn’t have selected otherwise. My companions enjoyed their food, but the entire experience was tainted by the surprisingly bad service of our waiter. There were times where we had to ask other servers for refills for water, salt, and other items because our server basically ignored us. He repeatedly complained about using not knowing how to use their mobile device to place orders and pay the bill, and there were oddly long times between our courses though the restaurant wasn’t very busy. I’m not usually one to complain about restaurant staff, but the service was bad enough to write a review.
A wonderful evening for or entire group. The night was filled with great food in a fun atmosphere. The ambiance was fun and lively, just what we needed to be a bit rowdy.
Great food, excellent service, good drinks. The Campechana is amazing. Gumbo is rich and has lots of seafood.
Great redfish on the half shell. Try the fried pork skins with cheddar dust. Yum. Guacamole is tasty too.
The food was fabulous, Trish was great and we enjoyed the live music after dinner.
The BEST of Goode Co.!!!!
