We four diners tried the fish taco special, pollo tacos, shrimp fajitas and Verde shrimp. Each enjoyed their dish. The top shelf margaritas were good. The taco dishes were served as 3 small tacos each; four would have been more filling. The fajitas served two tortillas but could have used three plus more veggies and guac. Overall, a nice meal. Would try them again.
Quantity of food has reduced compared to last time hence the quant low food is a hard match for price point. I would recommend for good ambience. If the food quantity matches the pricing then we have a winner.
Great service and always good food. Our waiter was funny and efficient.
First time here. Service and ambience were great! Tacos were delish except for the shrimp tacos. The spice was overpowering. Fajitas were excellent! Loved the chips and salsa.
Loved the food! The short rib tacos are to die for. It didn’t take a long time to get to us. They tried to seat us at the table in the back next to the kitchen door, I did not like that. We sat the bar instead and had a blast! Bartender was nice, the drinks were very well made. Margarita could’ve been a little better, didn’t like the tequila they used. However the restaurant was beautiful, stunning artwork. Good music!
We love Gonza!
This was my first time at this Gonza location and I loved it! It was not as noisy or overwhelming as the Lead Mine Rd location in Raleigh. The food was still top-notch and the service was great. I love how great they are about gluten-free. The atmosphere at this particular location was extra nice. I love how they could open the windows and you could feel like you were outside, almost a beach dining-like experience.
Way to expensive for portions and quality. Still very under staffed so any issues you wait a long time to get your meal or drinks resolved. $6 for an ice cream scoop of guacamole is crazy and same on queso!!
Always a great experience between the food and the service!
We enjoyed a wonderful celebration for my son’s graduation on the patio at Waverly. Our server Christopher could not have been nicer and really hustled to take care of us. Thanks for a great time!
So fun for a family dinner!
Kitchen was extremely slow. Not the servers fault. He was given 12 tables, and the kitchen was not putting out food at a reasonable pacr
The host is indifferent and unhelpful. He certainly gives the vibe that he prefers we dine elsewhere. Difficult to get a table outside even with a reservation.
Waiter was excellent.
Margaritas were delicious. The quacamole, queso dip, and salsa are bland. Grocery store alternatives taste better than these. Our food was bland as well.
The ambience of the restaurants is excellent. Great decorations and a festive, modern vibe. Restaurant and bathrooms were clean.
Logistics are great for parents of young children. There is a lovely outdoor area adjacent to playground, fountains, and grass square.
Overall we will not return due to disparity of food quality to cost.
Always love the food. Interesting that the stars no longer twinkle. The pace is hectic, so some things are overlooked, but the response is alway quick when the wait staff is asked again. Parking is challenging, and there are no handicapped spots marked in the lot closest to the restaurant.
The food and drinks are very good. Met up with some girl friends after not seeing some of them for a long time due to Covid. The waiter was ver accommodating and after we were done they didn’t kick us out. Gonza’s is great whichever location you go to
Dining at Gonza is always a good experience. The food is excellent, the decor is fun!
The food was great as always, but the restaurant was under-staffed and our server was very behind because of it. She did the best she could, but service was a bit slow.
We opted to dine outside - due to COVID concerns we are not dining indoors at this time. We had a res where we requested an outdoor table. When they called to confirm our res, the employee said they can’t guarantee outside because it’s first come first serve. We took a chance anyway. All but one table was opened when we arrived. However we were asked to wait and seated 10 minutes after and after 10 more minutes a server had not come to take a drink order. We are easygoing diners and understand many places are understaffed so like to offer grace. When we checked in about getting drinks it was clear a server had not even assigned to us. We had to request the table be cleaned of the pollen coat that had gathered. The redemption is when we got our drinks and food it was delicious as usual. Hoping our experience is a one off - but not sure we’ll be in a hurry to have a family meal here again.
Gonza is a great Mexican restaurant but the best part is their Margaritas. Especially the spicy. Great atmosphere too.
Great tasty food, prompt service, plenty of outdoor seating
Our server was outstanding and the food was delicious. Pickled Jalapeños had heat if you want something hot. Pork carnitas in their Chile Rellleno is a recommended smoky combo. The Mexican flag gives a tasty sampling of their specialties. The only reason I did not give all five stars is that even with reservations the hostess stand made it seem like an imposition to sit us in one of the three free in/outdoor tables instead of inside by the kitchen. They said we could wait 20-45min because those tables were previously reserved before my assigned table. With COVID, I plan to be safe & comfortable rather than in a hurry when dining out, so agreed to wait. They did end up relocating us within 5-10min. However after sitting and observing the open tables sat around us, I suspect the switch could have been done with less to-do, since each of those seated were asked whether they’d like to sit there. Which tells me those guests did not have the tables specifically reserved as stated.
One of my family's favorites. Great outdoor area for children to play.
Food was ok, north Raleigh branch was better.
Tacos are among the best I've had anywhere. But their bar staff is off the mark. I could make a better margarita - and have. While on the drive home, mentioned to my wife that the last two times we've been there it was the same: great food, lousy drinks. We've been on quarantine (not eating out, lowered tolerance) and two "top shelf" margaritas each had no impact at all, not worth the calories.
Menu is good, many taco selections. But no mix and match (2 or 3 of same flavor only). And generally the menu isn't deep - tacos, a few side options, handful of apps, some non-taco entrees, but not much.
We'll go back in a year when we've forgotten how bad/weak the margaritas are.
We really miss the location in Durham so we drive to Cary for dinner. Everything was great just as expected . I hope you will open a new Durham location soon !
Great Restraunt, very nice atmosphere and open concept.
Great food and fun atmosphere
Great evening. We eat there at least once a week and always enjoy it.
I have been going to Gonzas for years, it is my favorite place to bring people new to Raleigh! The food is delicious, they have the best passion fruit margaritas and the service is phenomenal. Perfect for a casual meet up or birthday celebration!
Always top notch food and service, our fav place.
Great dinner to celebrate my daughter’s birthday. Get the coconut flan.
Always great food, great service
& great atmosphere! Get the coconut flan for dessert if they have it, you won’t be disappointed!
Great meal and meeting. Always enjoy coming to Gonza. I eat there at least once a week.
Delicious food in a great atmosphere! Will definitely be back
5 of us girls went for a night out and 25 minutes later still no waitress to and for our drink order. I had to go to the hostess stand asking why. Then someone came to take our drink order and it took another 15 minutes to receive those drinks. We were there for a total of 40 minutes before a drink was served to us!
That's unacceptable. And then that same person (still not our waitress) took our dinner orders before she ever came back! Highly disappointed in the service!!!
Food was delicious though! However, if service is bad then I don't go back!
Too much of my money was spent ($50 pitcher of Top shelf Margarita) plus food to have such terrible service!
My favorite restaurant! So good
Every Gonza I have been to is outstanding. The food is some of the best Mexican around. Our waiter wasn’t outstanding, but it was a super busy night.
We’ve eaten at all the Gonza locations over the years and this on e is closest to us. Food is always amazing, but this time the service was terrible. We were there over two hours total for what was meant to be a quick dinner and drinks. Disappointing
One of my favorite restaurants in the triangle area
