   Visited Goldwyn & Sons in Bronte with my mom and sister on a Thursday night at 6:30PM. The atmosphere and ambiance were great - sleek but inviting, and the cocktails were well-done. The small bites were decent, though not the highlight understandably.​ Unfortunately, the service was very disappointing. Despite being the first and only guests upon opening and for the duration we were there, we felt like an inconvenience. The server appeared overwhelmed and disengaged, providing curt responses to conversation starters. It took an unusually long time for our cocktails to arrive, and we had finished our charcuterie board before they were served. Had the service been more attentive, or even just a bit communicative we would have gladly stayed for a second round as we originally had planned to do. It's possible the server was unexpectedly pulled into a shift or needed more time to open the bar, but clearer communication would have helped. If there were delays or unfamiliarity with the cocktails, a simple acknowledgment or explanation would have made us feel more comfortable. Additionally, offering water upon seating is a standard courtesy that was overlooked. Ultimately, we chose to continue our evening at Plank Restobar next door, where the service was warm, drinks were promptly served, and the atmosphere was lively.​ As someone whose experienced many cocktail bars in Toronto, my personal takeaway from this visit is that while Goldwyn & Sons shows promise with its drinks and setting, the service experience needs significant improvement to match its offerings.

   Dear Isabel, This is Ryan, one of the owners. On behalf of the whole team, we are so terribly sorry. Your review was very generous given your experience. More than cocktails, we want to create a space where you and your loved ones feel invited and cared for such that you all can relax and unwind. Again, I am so sorry you experienced this.    Canto was a great bartender and could tell he really enjoys being a mixologist. Great presentation n passion with the drinks. Would like to see more options on the food menu

   What a wonderful vibe! Loved the atmosphere, music and the bartender. The drinks were excellent and we went during happy hour. You can’t beat the prices. I’ll be back! Great experience.

   Drinks were good. The atmosphere was nice, and the bartenders were friendly and knowledgeable. There was a nice scent that was used as well.

   This place is truly a hidden gem in Bronte Village! By day, it's a barbershop, but by night, it transforms into a lively bar. The bartender is a mixology wizard, passionate about crafting authentic drinks. We were thrilled as he explained the ingredients and process for each drink. It made our experience even more special and fun! We ordered secret, off the menu (Dealer’s Choice) drinks and really enjoyed them.

   Not what we expected, but we probably should have been tipped off by the fact it’s also a barber shop. So the smell of “barber shop” was huge. However, that said, the very small part that is a bar is cute(tip, perhaps close the curtains to the barber shop). Drinks were good, glasses very nice (if you’re ordering a martini with olives expect mushy ones 🙃). Anyway, probably cool for guys, get a haircut followed by a cocktail 🍸. Not a great “date-night” place, my opinion. But interesting concept!

After working so hard to ensure our cocktail experience would be on par with the best in TO, this was a terrible oversight on our part and we completely agree with your experience. We are actively rectifying all the issues you brought up. If you can give us a second chance, we would love to have you come to our bar in the evening for a complimentary night on us.
