Outstanding meal. Full disclosure I eat here often and had a few favorites on the old menu. This menu was updated and both guest and I remarked that the food was some of the best we had had in years. Our main meals were particularly good. Can't wait to go back and try some new things. Yes, the Goldfinch is a little pricey, but if you are looking for special food, you can't go wrong. Bravo....

Overwhelmingly disappointing experience. We chose this restaurant to enjoy a festive and fabulous New Year’s Eve celebration. The ambiance was as expected. Everything looked beautiful. We arrived for our 9:30 reservation and were seated reasonably promptly. Unfortunately, that was the extent of our positive experience. The restaurant was busy, as to be expected for such a holiday, however, something was most definitely awry. We sat at our table for at least 2.5 hours before our meal arrived. We rang in the New Year around the time our meal arrived. By that time, a few members of our party were so put off, they no longer had an appetite. On the other hand, I was so hungry, I was relieved to see our meal. The food was mediocre, at best. I was looking forward to the Duck Hash and, sadly, the predominant flavor was salt, same was true for the risotto. The bisque was flavorful but that was about it. It felt as though the overextended kitchen staff simply gave up and the food was flavored with their tears of frustration and ambivalent angst. This meal was not inexpensive, which, if the food was enjoyable or the experience, overall, was enjoyable, would be fine … neither was the case. Our waiter was professional and as attentive as possible, however, one waiter is simply not able to hold down the fort for an entire restaurant on one of the busiest days of the year. The waiter was considerate enough to acknowledge the poor experience and even extended a customer service gesture to adjust our bill. The gesture was welcome, however, if we are being fair, the restaurant did not deliver, the meal should have been comped. There is no way any party should wait in excess of 2 hours for a meal. That’s simply not how it works, especially not when engaging in a fine dining experience. In good conscience, I cannot recommend this restaurant and will not dine here again. I was deeply embarrassed of my recommendation to our party and incredibly disappointed

Went here for the NYE 3 course tasting menu and it was awful. Food was subpar. Service was terrible and very slow we had to wait 40mins to order from our waiter. They forgot to bring us the complimentary starters at the beginning of the meal and we had to ask after our second course what they were since every other table was getting them but us.

Our experience wasn’t great. It took two hours to have 4 entrees and one appetizer. We also ordered a bottle of wine and cocktails. The food was fine but not worth what we paid. We had to flag our server down multiple times and ended up passing on dessert purely out of a time constraint. Our $400 meal left us wishing we went somewhere else instead of revisiting what used to be a solid spot.

So disappointing. Slow, unpleasant, and inattentive service. They brought the bubbly (which was a substitute for what we ordered because they were out) about 10 minutes before the oysters, so we sat there waiting while the shellfish languished. Food is good but not extraordinary. Wine list extremely limited. For the price, it should really be so much better.

We have booked the Goldfinch since 2018 (missed 2021-covid). We have always found the experience and food outstanding. I was very disappointed this time when we ordered rib eye steak (medium), and instead received cold, very rare prime rib. My partner sent his back to be cooked and I just ate mine. While $150 a pop is not that bad a price, I expect the entree to be the highlight of the meal. In this case it was clearly the worst. It did not ruin our Christmas, but I will give very serious consideration to finding another option next year. Yes, they are the same cut, but the difference is how they are cooked and I know any first year chef knows that difference. Recommendation below should be maybe, not yes or no

Wonderful Christmas Buffet. Extensive appetizer options w/ your entree ordered from a selection of the menu and then another extensive dessert buffet. The Turkey entree was excellent - I’d love to know how they got the Turkey so moist. Thank you to the Goldfinch for a memorable Christmas meal!

We were hoping for a terrific Christmas Eve tasting dinner with wine pairings at the Goldfinch Tavern, Four Seasons Seattle but were very disappointed. We were unexpectedly seated in the bar area and the associated blenders etc made the dining experience far too noisy. In terms of the food, we shared a mussels and clams appetizer and they were delicious. The salmon and scallops (mains) were good but not great. The pumpkin creme brûlée was good but the apple tart bordered on inedible. The time between each course was excessive. The three wine pours were half a glass each and cost $60 per person!? Finally, our server was largely missing in action. All this cost $500!?! I cannot recommend this restaurant and will contact management.

The ambiance at the Goldfinch is always very relaxed, and the service is attentive. I can thoroughly recommend the non-alcoholic blackberry cocktail. It is absolutely delicious. Steaks were cooked perfectly, and the food was well seasoned and presented. Our only niggle is that two of our group ordered the mushroom risotto and were disappointed - it was too creamy and cheesy, and mushrooms were not the star of the dish - there were only a couple of pieces per plate. We were expecting an array of wild mushrooms and a definite mushroom taste. Sadly this was absent. Apart from the risotto, everything else was perfect! We will come back but probably not order risotto again. It was a far cry from risottos we have had in Italy.

We visited at 8PM on a Friday night during the Christmas season and found our experience to be very pleasant. We had left another restaurant that was so loud and cold and we were glad we switched for dinner service. It would have been close to perfect for ambience except for a couple of loud parties close to us, not the restaurant's fault. Soft live music was an added bonus. Yes, pretty expensive plus a 20% service fee added prior to tax, which really added up. 65% goes to the server and the remainder to the rest of the staff. I'd prefer for restaurants to just raise their prices to cover staffing, and let customers tip as appropriate. We had very good service so no complaints about that. We started with the baguette ($8) and split a salad. The bread had 6 slices and the 2 end pieces were very dried out by being heated for our order. Too bad, because it was really tasty. The spinach salad was overdressed for my taste, but fresh. The kitchen had split it for us, which was great so we didn't have to wrestle with it at the table. My friend ordered the Tuna and I had the Sea Bass ($60 & $62). Both were good, nice portions and interesting presentation, but just not amazing. We had a $65 bottle of excellent Rose, tiramisu (very good) and one brandy after dinner. Our final bill was $360. We had expected an extravagant evening to celebrate the holidays, but the sticker shock might keep me from returning anytime soon. Nor was there anything we ate that I would crave enough to return. Overall, it was not all negative, I would still recommend for a nice dinner and comfortable setting. And the tiramisu :).

The ambiance of the restaurant was very nice. The cocktails were delicious and the plating presentation was elegant. The mains, while the plating was great, the food was delivered cold. As food was delivered by food runners and not our server we were unable to communicate the food temperature until 15+ min when our server came back to check in on us. When the server did check in we shared that all 4 meals were delivered cold and asked to speak to the general manager. Our feedback was taken and a few entrees were comp'd on the bill. Final notes, Goldfinch is a good restaurant and we will hopefully try again one day.

We booked a last minute table on a Saturday night. The service was incredibly slow although the restaurant did not seem overly busy. We must have waited at least 20 mins before anyone even asked us about drinks. We finally were able to order starters but before we could order our mains, our server had disappeared. We had tuna tartare to start and it was absolutely delicious. But I then had the rigatoni which was nice, but $20 nice, not over $40 nice. My friend ordered veal but asked to hold the mushrooms. The dish arrived also without asparagus and when we politely asked if it came with asparagus, we were told “no” but they could whip some up. We no longer had a menu so couldn’t check, but looking again today, we were right. For the quality of food, the prices are way too high and we had really bad service. Overall a very disappointing experience. We will sadly not be returning.

We needed dairy-free options and the waiter was very good about fully explaining the dishes and what could be altered to be dairy free without compromising the flavor. It’s worth it to ask about options rather than just take whatever is marked as dairy free on the menu. They also mark vegan and gluten free items on the menu, but ask for all your options. The beet and Dungeness crab salad was delightful in flavor and presentation. Cocktails were expensive but very good - the Snowglobe presentation smoked with rosemary was quite stunning. The cedar plank salmon was so delicious - possibly the best salmon I’ve ever tasted, it was so tender inside that it seemed to melt, and the morel mushrooms went perfectly with it. Outstanding house made sorbet (vegan)
