I live in San Diego, CA and cannot get good Cantonese food there. I am particularly fond of Lobster Cantonese and Lobster with ginger. This restaurant always has had the best.
When I travel to Boston on business or to visit family I try to go there. This time, there was almost a SNAFU. They were out of lobster! However, the waiter and others at the restaurant went out of their way to get fresh lobster for me and my family so we were able to have both dishes AND we were NOT disappointed. It was even better than I remember. Almost worth a special trip to Boston from California.
We also had delicious spare ribs and pork strips (can't get pork strips in CA). Another dish (I don't remember the name) was shrimp with eggplant. Awesome.
If you go there, ask for Tom -- a caring top-notch waiter, who cared about customer service.
Always a nice meal. Service is usually extremely friendly and the hot towels are a nice touch.
I am usually not a big chinese food fan but I do enjoy the food here. The service was prompt and friendly, the food was served hot and flavorful. I enjoyed the general gao's chicken and my seaweed salad.
Sometimes it takes an hour for us to drive to the Golden Temple, but this gem never disappoints. From the very friendly and welcoming staff to the most delectable cuisine, we just so much enjoy this place and are always excited to share our love of this unique treasure with others. In addition, the comfortable ambiance and beautiful decor contribute greatly to a fabulous experience. Can’t wait to return!!
Amazing pork ends, Golden Temple Fried rice and shrimp with lobster sauce!
As always, it has been one of our favorites. Consistent, great food, great service, Clean, Still the best in town
This restaurant is run down and needs a facelift...the chairs are worn. We will not return.
Dirty plates, terrible-tasting scallion pancakes, dank smell from the kitchen throughout the restaurant, really old worn out furniture.
Again and I have said this before, I object to the very high prices of alcohol, especially wine by the glass. Very unnecessary for a Chinese restaurant. Wine by the glass should be 8-9 dollars
Had a ton of appetizers today. Old school egg rolls are the best. Vermicelli noodles with shrimp were a great gluten free option.
Sad to Say It's Disappointing Again
We have been long fans of this establishment and for years looked forward to the food, especially the house special spare ribs and mai tai's, clams in black bean sauce and more.Unfortunately it has to shared that for the second time in a few months the food was seriously disappointing. Even our waiter acknowledged that the food quality and preparation from the kitchen this past Saturday evening was not acceptable.
Please note that this is difficult to share but since it is obvious to customers and the folks that work there combined with no one actually caring enough to bring back the quality... what can I say...
Desperately in need of an update, this place looks dumpy and the food is mediocre
Great Father’s Day lunch!
Fantastic night. Beatrice at the bar is a fantastic bartender. Food fresh hot and served quickly. Very comfortable. A good place to visit anytime. Will be back soon
It was our first time at the restaurant and we were impressed. Everything was delicious. Price was reasonable. And the service was quick and courteous. We’ll be back again.
College graduation. Staff was so nice and friendly! Food was great!
HORRIBLE. I think the waiter was alone in the large restaurant because we almost never saw him. Food was not good, so good thing portions were tiny. 3 small pieces of chicken in our chicken stir fry. Rice arrived 1/2 hour after entrees and was crunchy. This was my daughter's graduation dinner, so meant to be a good experience. Instead it was awful.
The waiter did a very poor job in bringing our food. It came at all different times. He did not seem to be bothered by it at all.
To be fair, it was Mother’s Day, the worst day in the restaurant industry. Despite having a reservation, the waiting area was packed with parties (including us) waiting to be seated. The servers were overwhelmed with the volume. Two soups didn’t arrive until after the entrees. Those things I understand on a crazy day like that. But the food was truly sub-par. Golden Temple is expensive and “upscale” Chinese food. But the food we got was no better than what you’d get at a strip mall carryout joint. We have been coming to GT for over 25 years, but I think this visit will be our last. I don’t recommend. It’s not worth the hype and price.
Usually love the food here but did not get a chance to eat anything this time. With a reservation it still took 45 mins to be seated, and after being seated it took another 30 mins to receive water. 45 mins and 3 visits to the front desk later we walked out to another restaurant across the street. No management ever came by after multiple requests. Overall terrible experience.
Food was greasy, oily, cold. Would not return.
Food was pricey and nothing special Hot and sour soup was room temperature and entrees didn’t come with rice or veg. No green tea ice cream either
Service was horrible. The guy who seated us was the best thing there. The waiter we had was horrible. Every time someone had a question about something he would walk away from the table really fast before everyone was finished ordering. He also DEMANDED that we leave him a certain amount of money for a tip. I thought that was based on quality of service,no?
This is the best Chinese restaurant. I have been to many Chinese restaurants and Golden Temple is outstanding. The food is not greasy at all and the menu is extensive.
First time there with my husband-great food and fun ambiance! Will definitely return!
great place. grew up going there but the prices are extremely high for chinese food these days.
Took the family out to the Golden Temple again. The service can sometimes be a tad slow, but if your not in a hurry, its a great place for dinner. We compare this place to the Kowloon in Saugus. We find the rice at Kowloons just a bit better (both good), but everything else is better here.
Sat at the bar this time for dinner. Bartender fantastic. Service great food excellent. Great experience. May end up eating at bar again when she bartends. Great service. Back again and now added as double favorite.
Golden Temple was always one of our favorite restaurants but sadly we will not be returning. The food quality has gone sharply downhill. The crispy orange beef was chewy and mushy. The chicken fingers were swimming in grease on the platter and the chicken teriyaki had the consistency of plastic. The dumplings had no taste and the beef teriyaki was extremely chewy. We also observed a fellow diner feverishly sawing at a piece of teriyaki with a knife trying to cut through it. Absolutely inedible. The restaurant was barely busy and for 7:30 on a Saturday night that was quite unusual. Now we know why. Also, the walls beside our booth were filthy. Prices were very high which means we wasted $100.00 on a meal that we were unable to eat. Save your money and choose a different restaurant.
Been going here for many years- always excellent!
Great place to meet friends. Healthy food available. Always enjoy it.
Delicious food, fantastic service. I will not order wine there unfortunately, because there prices are far too high. (Went up considerably in the past few months). I think for a Chinese restaurant an $8 or $9 dollar is the most a glass of Chardonnay should cost.
Hostess sat us all the way in the back where no one was, food was okay, the waiter stood in front of us to make sure he was getting a tip as we left another couple were seated all the way in the back also. All others were seated in the front. Will not go back again.
Best Chinese food!!!
High quality food in a lovely restaurant! Only suggestion for improvement would be to repair tears in seating.
Golden Temple is comsistant, a neighborhood go to, great for large or small groups or for the special occasion. We came in and had some of our usual Golden Cloud Niodles and BBQ Ribs.
