The valet told me to pay in advance and said he didn’t have change. So I ended up over paying. There was another guy there when I got my car. Didn’t know about overpayment.
The food was very mediocre. Not worth taking any leftovers.
Overpriced. Drinks were OK. Mostly ice.
We went to celebrate Valentine's Day. The restaurant was decorated with roses and each patron received a love note at their place setting quoting various famous authors. The food was delicious, the service was attentive, the price was reasonable. We look forward to returning soon.
Fantastic. This is the freshest and best Chinese food anywhere in and near Boston. Superb. That’s why we keep coming back
Great, quality food - never disappoints - will be back soon!
Always have a delicious meal at golden temple. Have enjoyed this place for the last 40 years.
Appetizers were good. Duck was great.
We weren't impressed. Were told multiple times that things were unavailable. When we pressed our server he said he would "check with the kitchen" and miraculously they became available. I think that's their go-to line if they don't feel like making something. Food on the whole was fine, though one of my dining companions said his steak tasted spoiled (they took it back and did not charge us for it), and several of our meals arrived to the table cold. Would definitely not go out of my way to return with so many other great options in the area.
I love the food there every time I go everyone is so friendly the parking in the area is great some time they play music on the other side off restaurant witch is nice its very laid back
Surprisingly not the best experience, we have been coming here for years and always for the Lunar New Year celebration. Our waiter was pretty unavailable and never checked on us (yes it was busy but...). Every year they bring us a mug of the New Year animal - this year he didn't bring them to our table, although everyone else around us received them. When I asked he grunted ask on your way out. Felt like we were treated as second class diners.
The service was really terrible this time. Everything was slow overall and we had to wait so long to get our check it was pretty ridiculous. The food was uneven as well. Some of it was quite good and some really bland. We’ve had better experiences in the past, so maybe it was just the chaos of the lunar new year.
Golden Temple never fails to provide excellent food and service. It is a bit pricey for Asian cuisine, but everything is always fresh, hot and delicious. The Golden Temple ribs and fried rice are my favorites.
Excellent Chinese food. Had the spare ribs, scallops, and chilean sea bass. Great Mai Tai also.
If you want to find a hopping place on a weekend where they keep even large groups moving in and out at a good pace, this could be the place for you. If you are looking for inventive Asian dishes that celebrate fresh ingredients and work from a rich palette of flavors this is not the place for you.
Golden Temple is a throw-back to a different age when"Chinese food" featured bland ingredients and heavy use of corn starch.
The appetizers we ordered never arrived. The three entrees that my wife, sister and I ordered were indistinguishable amid the gray gloppy sauce until my sister noticed the asparagus pieces in hers, and I saw the telltale red finish of the pork chunks in mine. The food was not inedible. The frozen peas and celery pieces that accompanied the pork chunks in mine would have been fine if I were throwing together leftovers for dinner, but for dinner on Beacon Street on a Saturday night it was unfathomable that any self-respecting restaurant owner would allow that out of the kitchen. Then again, I guess some people like that because the dining room was packed and they were turning tables over as fast as people left.
Great food, as usual. Wonderful service. Not rushed. We were there to celebrate a friends birthday. We had a great night filled with good food and lots of fun.
Food was completely tasteless, including their specialty “spareribs.”
Help was rude!
Good service and good food
Best Chinese food in the area. Great service. Always consistent
The menu prices are inflated on New Year's Eve on the service and food didn't reflect the prices
It was a disappointment
New Years Eve. Food was still exceptional. Service was acceptable.
New’s Years Eve
Awesome food per usual! Clean and great atmospheres! Valet parking after 8 PM. On street parking and spaces across the street.
The service was poor, our food was cold, and the music was too loud.
I have no idea how this restaurant is still in business or why people go here. The waiter had zero hospitality skills, stumbled and jostled placing plates and drinks, was slow and inattentive. The food was bland. Basic Asian take out but over priced bc it’s on a plate at a restaurant(?) which btw, needs a major renovation. So many better options in Brookline and Boston for Asian cuisine. Underwhelming.
Every dish we ordered and ate was perfect. Our waiter was friendly and personable and although very busy, he made sure to check on our table periodically to ask how everything was. We most appreciated the timing between our dishes being brought out as we never felt rushed. Thanks everyone! We will be back!
Sorry to say this was a disappointing experience. I hadn’t been there in a few years, but earlier experiences were excellent. We were there on Xmas Day and I guess they were really too busy. There were two of us and we were given poor seating, in the open area next to walkers and trays. Appetizers were good but our main course and rice arrived barely warm so it must have been sitting a while.
I know it was Xmas day but they should have been prepared, too many clients, too few staff. Our chairs were cracked and uncomfortable, the lighting was dingy. They said they could not turn on any more overhead lights. Orders were delayed and then coming out all scrambled. We had to wait for our drinks and then main course came out when we were just starting appetizers. Many other tables were unhappy about service and complaining too. First time...last time !!
Food was good. But they could not handle the Christmas rush and our entrees were served 45 minutes apart to different people in the same party.
Wait was over an hour with reservations. Never got to sit. Bad, chaotic energy in there
Best Chinese food !!!
Great waiter
Comfortable seating
A little pricey
Always delicious and fresh
Christmas Eve, WITH a reservation and still had to wait an hour and 15 minutes.
Christmas Eve was very busy, there was plenty of staff but they were all rushing around on the verge of panic. Food was good but not as good as usual.
Horrible. Never go there
Great food and service, highly recommend if you’re looking for great Chinese food. Some of the best I’ve had...
The food portions were huge and well prepared. Service was attentive. Very upscale experience for a Chinese restaurant. Great for special occasion.
I liked my meal, but my date did not care for his. Service was quick, food was nice and hot, but there was minimal interaction with our waiter.
Food was greasy and without salt!
Excellent. Best food in town
Wonderful Cantonese cuisine. Try to find street parking to avoid the $15.00 Valet.
Absolutely outstanding experience and best Chinese cuisine ever.
It was very crowded and busy so it was super loud. Our waiter was nice but he was clearly overwhelmed by a very large party. It took us awhile to get our drinks and our food ordered.
