If you like steakhouses but prefer yours to be more old fashioned than chic, then the Golden Spur Restaurant has your number. Located right off route 66, Golden Spur Restaurant is a piece of old-world Los Angeles. Aside from the trademark cuts of meat, you can also order pasta, oysters and other forms of seafood.
The nice big booths will give you plenty of space to spread out, which makes Golden Spur Restaurant an ideal spot to relax with friends and family while enjoying excellent food and wonderful service. So if you're in the area, drop in and see why this place is such a hit.
Nothing super special but a great comfortable local spot. Food good. Service good. Prices reasonable. Visit often enough and they will know you by name.
Step back into the 1950s-1960s and enjoy the decor and food of an old roadhouse steakhouse, everything made to order. The ambiance of that era is quite delightful.
I've been here before but it's been about two years. And two years ago, I remember the food and presentation being amazing. The service was great. This last visit was different. Don't get me wrong the food was still good. Just not amazing as it was two years ago. I don't know if they had changed or just had an off night, but I was slightly disappointed. The service was still great, but the food presentation wasn't as great. I remember just ooh'ing and ahh'ing over my lobster bisque two years ago for how they presented it. And this time, it was just a bowl of soup that was too salty. I will go again some day because the previous experience was so wonderful, but this second experience has left me wanting to wait a while.
We went Feb 15th, a belated Valentine dinner. I had the filet mignon stuffed with the cheese blend. Super delicious. I would recommend this dish to everyone, and I personally will have it again and again. My honey had the rack of lamb... all I'll say is OMG, beyond good. The lamb was so very tender and juicy, but well cook and not pink (which I hate pink meat) so that is probably what I'm ordering next time. Joe, the owner, came by our table a couple of times to check up on us and to socialize. It really gave us that personal touch, made me feel special.
That sums it up... next time. There will be multiple next times. I judge a place on if I'll go back, and the Golden Spur is a place I'll go back to again and again.
Got up and left after being ignored by waiter for half an hour. Had to ask for water multiple times and when I finally got my salad it was warm and all the dressing was on the bottom. We had a reservation and we still waited 30 minutes to be seated. It was ridiculous. I've never left a restaurant before because of service, but I would never go back there again. It was the first and last time.
We had dinner on February 13th instead of the 14th, in an attempt to avoid the inevitable craziness on Valentine's Day. While the food was very good, the service was poor. I think our waiter, whom we've had in the past, and who we actually requested for the evening, was simply overwhelmed with a very full dining room.
Just the same, the food was delicious. The Shrimp Diane is TO DIE FOR!!!! And because it was also our anniversary, we were given a complimentary piece of Joe's Cheesecake - ABSOLUTELY THE BEST CHEESE CAKE I HAVE EVER EATEN!!! Not too dense, as some cheesecake can be.
The owner's brother chatted with us for a while, and encouraged us to try the newer pasta dishes on our next visit, which we will definitely do.
Had a wonderful time at Golden Spur celebrating my birthday and dad's birthday. The owner of the restaurant was so gracious and hospitable to come over to introduce himself and to wish us happy birthday!
The service was much better on this visit, but the food was a bit lacking. I ordered the almond crusted sole and when I got it, it was a dry piece of fish with dry almond slivers poured over the top of it. Not at all like what I was expecting. But once again the salad was good.
There were not enough servers for the evening. We waited a long time for our food and it came to us after it had been sitting for a while (luke warm). Our drinks(diet cokes) also watered down like they had been sitting for a while. Our water was never filled and the bread and salad was somthing you would expect from Dennys not from a Restaurant like the Golden Spur.
I have been to this restaurant before and really enjoyed the food and services. I will never come here again for New Years eve.
This is one of the nicer restaurants in the area, came for lunch and enjoyed the still up Christmas decor. I was a bit disappointed in my meal, I got the turkey club sandwich and the bacon was much too crispy it more or less "shattered" when I bit into it, and the server seemed to be dis-interested in serving me, she never brought bread to my table although I noticed every other table had a bread basket. Oh well, the house salad was really good.
